Hi!  I'd say I did pretty well Thanksgiving day.  I didn't deprive myself of anything but I didn't overeat either.  All moderation.  Yesterday was my day to get back into calorie watch and moderation mode!  Did pretty well except we have those butter cookies!  And those are soooo hard to resist for me!  But I usually have 2 and I'm good.  I ended up working out Thanksgiving morning and paid for it later in the day.  I did the Biggest loser cardio program that is free on On Demand.  And wow!  I've been consistant with my running but realize there are many more legand bun muscles I am missing!  So I didn't do anything yesterday.  Today I'm still sore but am gonna try it again.  Tomorrow I am supposed to run 4 miles with a "mommy run group" I have out here so we will see how that goes.  I spent all of yesterday putting up our xmas tree and decoratiing so not much time to snack all day. Plus I didn't bring any leftovers home.  If I did I'd be in Thanksgiving mode for about 3 or 4 days!  So that is the update with me, how is everyone else?

Hi!  Can I join!!??  I've been wanting to lose the last 5 for about a year!  I know I am fine and healthy but it's just that dang goal number I set I won't stop worrying about it till I get there!  I am 29, 106-107 and goal is 103 and nothing lower.  I just want to see it!  LOL!  I started my weight loss journey about 6 years ago after the birth of my son.  I had always been a average/ chunkier gal growing up but after my son came I decided to get healthy.  I was 162 pounds at 5'1 and had been getting alot of comments and I finally looked real good in the mirror and didn't like what I saw.  So I lost my weight slowly and steadily about a pound-2 lbs a week.  Plateaued here and there and then kept going.  I didn't diet, I changed my eating lifestyle entirely.  So I was able to lose succesfully but very slow.  Anyway, got to 113 and became pregnant with my daughter and after she was born, byt hte time she was 3.5 months I was back down to my pre pg weight.  And over the last 3 years have lost only 5-7 pounds.  I'm pretty good at maintaining.  Can eat almost whatever I want in moderation but I am use to doing just hat...eating whatever I want.  So I know in order to lose the last 4  I need to shock my body somewhat.  Currently I eat about 12-1400 cals a day.  And that is just what I eat to maintain.  I don't lose on it and I don't gain so any tips would be great.  Every other weekend or so I do cheat on higher cal foods and that is usually because we are at some family gathering.  I run 4 days a week and strength train 2 days a week.  I joined a mommy group  here in my city and we have trained for 5k's and 10k's.  Back in March I never ran...ever,  but now I really like it and love the muscles and definition it has given me so it's great motivation.  Hubby loves it too!  A definite  bonus on my motivation.  So that is a little about me, I'll try to post as much as I can.  I do get home late since I commute and pick my kids up.  But I'll definitely read and take in what everyone is doing and how.  Thanks for letting me join you all!

I did it in 2001.  I was desperate.  My son was 9 months old at the time and I had people asking me when I was due because Ilooked pregnant.  The food wasn't great but I did add seasonings to it and would just order the same fwe things I could tolerate and ate it with a good hearty salad and veggies or 1/2 baked potato with salsa.  In 2.5 months I lost 24 lbs and at that time it was around $260 for a months supply but it was hard to even afford that so I quit but it taught me how to eat smaller portions, better low glycemic foods and to eat and fill up on veggies and salad before digging into your entree.

After that I lost 20 more pounds but then  I became pregnant in 2004 and had my daughter in 2005 and lost all of the weight plus some for a total loss of 56 pounds (not including what I put on during the pregnancy).  So for me it taught me to eat better and portion control.  That was what I took with me.  Yea the food wasn't great but I really wanted to lose weight and be healthier for my kids so I did whatever it took.  But essentially, I didn't have to spend a dime if I just took the advice of everyone who has dieted succesfully and knows that all it takes is smaller portions, lower calorie foods, etc.    But NS is what started it all off for me.

Hi, I"m currently training to run a 10K October 26.  I ran my first 5K in June at a Nike womens Fitness festival.  I run and train with ladies that are in my mommy group here in town.  Our trainer is actually a fitness isntructor but she incorporates kids into our training if we have no other choice than to train with them.  How I started out was to run 3 days a week and my first week I started out at running 10 minutes total.  I would run for 4 and walk for 2 minutes.  The next week it was bumped up to 15 mins and to run for 5 and 6 mins and then walk for 2.  Week 3 and 4 again I would run for 15 mins but increase my running/ walking time to where at  the end of the 4th and 5th week I was running for 8 mins and walking for 2.  I was on a 12 week training program like you.  Week 6 turned into actual miles.  The first 6 weeks were for me to get used to the endurance I needed to run period and to not worry about distance and time.  By week 10 I was running 2.5- 3 miles and by Week 11 and 12 I was running 2,3, and 4 miles.  I also added one more run day in around week 7 or so.  You can PM me if  this doesn't make sense but I have a schedule saved on my computer that shows it all.

Now for my 10K, I am running 4 days a week.  I have one day off and cross train the other 2 days.  My easy days are 3 mile runs and I have 2 long days, one mid week and the other on Sunday and they are 4 miles and Sunday is 4.5.  Next week I bump it up to 5 miles.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense but before March of this year I HATED to run.  I moved 40 miles away from my family almost 5 years ago and really don't know anyone. Since the birth of my first born I have lost 60 pounds and had another in between then and now and was succesful at taking the weight off easily but it's the maintaining that is hard.  I have no friends out here to do it with so I joined this group that I found and they are great and we meet up once a week and we hava casual group runs during the week as well.  I usually can't attend the weekly ones since I work FT but now I really like  running and what it has done for me, emptionally and physically.  It's a great stress releiver and I get alot of compliments on my legs!  LOL!

Good Luck!!!

wonderful advice, thank you!!!

I currently use 8lb hand weights.  I did notice when I stopped working out several months back or stoppped working out as much (down to 1-2 times a week of cardio...no weight lifting) I did drop weight but I know it was muscle mass.  Now with all of this running, I'm getting compliments everywhere and especially from my husband!  So that is really motivating to me.  I'm gonna take all this advice with me for my next workout tomorrow.  Thanks again!!

Good point!  I do remember it and some days it still seems hard like that since I do push myself.  I started my elliptical out a year ago at level 3 now I am at 6 sometimes 7.  And it sucks!  But I was reading somewhere that it said to try doing some cardio for 5 minutes, then some strength training, than back to some cardio, the strength training, and so on for 30 minutes.  Should the cardio be my same elliptical routine or treadmill running?  Or something different??

Hi, I'm  Tiffany, 28.  I have 2 kids.  I'm 5'1 and 107.  Ultimate goal is 105.  I was there a couple weeks ago but mainly because I was sick!  I started dieting a few years back and was 162.  I too need motivation to reach my goal but to also maintain.  I have lost very slowly and have found that this is the way to go for me.  But it is almost just as hard to maintain as it is to "diet".  So looking for any tips on losing the last couple pounds and what type of exercising everyone is doing.  I currently use the elliptical from 35-45 minutes 4-5 days a week and or run outside or both like tonight.   Good luck to everyone!

I also have some in my gallery.  I am 5'1 and started out in a size 15 jeans and now wear a 0-2.  It took 5 years for me though.  And a 2nd pregnancy.  For me slow and steady wins the reace!  Best Wishes!

Hi, I'm also in the same boat and very similar.  I also lost 54 lbs.  Weigh 107.  Wanted to be 105 but really I'm not trying anymore.  I think I am fine like this.  I kept letting a number rule my life and I can't.  I'm a mother of 2 kids too and well, personally, and just my own opinion, I am fine. My husband loves me and my kids love me and I get compliments so, I'm happy.  However I was frustrated like you.  I ate 1000 cals a day and exercised on my elliptical 4-5 days a week for 40-45 minutes and nothing.  I did increase my Fiber and started eating fiber cereal in the early morning and that did give me a little boost.  I hope you find your happy medium as I'm sure your beautiful!  Don't be too harsh on yourself.  I know that a goal is a goal but I passed mine up 13 pounds ago!  I'm a happy camper!  Good luck!

Hi, I'm Tiffany, 28.  Over the last 5 years I have dieted and lost 52 pounds.  Trying to maintain at what I'm at now and the scale will go up and down a couple pounds.  Just found this website yesterday and love it so far!  I'm 5'1 and try to stay at 110 but was 111-112 this week.  I have 2 kids.  Before I was pg with my 6 year old I was 151lbs.  I met my hubby who is Portuguese and I just LOVED h is mom's cooking!  I met my hubby at 133 back in 1998!  Anyway my son was almost 1 when I got a comment from a patient who asked me when I was due and that I looked 'close'.  So I went on nutrisystem and then learned to eat helthy after 2 months of that.  2005 I had my baby girl and all the weight came off when she was 4 months old.  I"ve been maintaining for awhile now but to me, that is just as hard as dieting.  I can put weight on very easily.  Trying to keep up with the exercise as well!  AS if chasing a 2 year old and 6 year old isn't exercise enough! LOL!  Looking forward to seeing how this thread goes and best wishes for success for everyone!  You're already a huge motivation to me!

Hi, I'm new here!

Jan2007- 118

Jan 2008- 110

I've also had a roller coaster last 2 years.  In July 2006 my only brother died, I lost weight (was 115)and got down to 107 then found comfort in food and by January was 118.  In August 2007 my mom passes away unexpectedly (I had dieted prior and got down to about 113-114,) then went down to 110.  And have now been maintaining here but in a smart way.  Making good choices and eating more frequently.  I'm really hoping 2008 is better for me and I can stay around this weight!  You all should be very proud!  What an inspiration!  I'm glad I found this place!
