| Weight Loss | 5'5 and 99 lbs.??? | May 04 2008 22:49 (UTC) |

You just asked two different questions in one post... you start off asking if you should keep your weight loss goal of 99 lbs (which is ridiculous and you know that). Then you ask how to keep your current weight. My brain hurts after reading your post (coming from a recovering ED patient). |

| Health & Support | Ednos? | Apr 25 2008 12:27 (UTC) |

I was diagnosed with EDNOS because I had every symptom of Anorexia but was one pound away from the weight limit. You definately are having some issues around food that are unhealthy. Because of your upcoming exams it might be causing you to get even more obsessed about it because it is something in your life you can control. It is like a coping skill for all the stress that comes along with school. I would suggest to find a therapist. They will be your lifesaver! And they would be able to diagnose you properly. You can work with them to find out what is really behind all of this. What your underlying feelings really are (and I won't lie, it can be very hard) and then learn new healthy coping skills to deal with whatever it is you're trying to cope with now by controlling food. The sooner you can get in with a therapist, the better. The longer you wait, the harder it gets. And yes, it will be hard. And frustrating. But it's for the better in the long run! Plus you have summer coming up and that will give you a break from school (assuming you won't take summer school which is probably for the better with this going on) so you can concentrate on you and dealing with all of this. Good luck with everything! |

| Health & Support | Acid Reflux Meds... Anyone else gain weight on it? | Apr 12 2008 20:51 (UTC) |
|
What are you taking? I'm on Prevacid but I didn't have any weight gain from it. I'm at an eating disorder treatment center right now (was inpatient but now I'm outpatient, obviously haha) so there are several people there who are on acid-reflux meds and I haven't heard of anybody gaining weight from it. So you might want to look at other possible factors... :) |

I need accountability too! I haven't weighed in two weeks but I look and feel freakin HUGE!! Like I've gotten bigger! I'd like to lose the 15lbs I've recently gained. That weight gain made me extremely upset.... I'd like to get it off for summer. |

Yea I saw a doctor about it. That's how I found out about the arrhythmia. They sent me for an EKG but I haven't heard anything so no news is good news (I had it done last Tuesday). I think having an eating disorder brought this all on. Especially the purging. But I'm in recovery and exercising a good amount each week so my heart should start to get it's strength back. Thanks for the replies though. |

My suggestion to you is to get into your ideal weight range (unless you already are) then eat a MAINTENENCE diet and work on toning your body. You will feel better, stay healthy, and won't drift onto the wrong path. |

Well, I woke up Saturday and the left side of my jaw was a little swollen, dunno why. Then yesterday it was even bigger. I look like a freakin chipmunk on once side!! Ahh!! It's still swollen today. Even my roommate could tell it was swollen. I had my wisdom teeth removed two days after Christmas and ended up with dry socket then found out in February I got an infection on the left side. They gave me meds and it cleared up. I'm just afraid maybe it's coming back or something... I'm gonna call and make an appointment today.... but man... until then! And I have to walk around campus looking like this! Great.... grrr.... *storms off to the gym* |

| Weight Loss | I was thinking about eating one meal a day for weight loss. what do you think? | Mar 26 2008 12:50 (UTC) |
24 |
Eating one meal a day is going to slow your metabolism way down.... plus you're more likely to binge. I don't think it's a good idea.... just eat three balanced meals with correct portion sizes. And exercise. You can't just diet... you gotta move too. |

| Health & Support | Slimfast, Ensure, Boost ect....Which are healthiest??? | Feb 21 2008 01:01 (UTC) |

| Im in treatment right now for an eating disorder (was inpatient for two months, now i'm on an outpatient basis) and they make us drink a Boost if we don't eat all of our meals. They are NASTY in my opinion! The only one I could stand to chug (literally) was the vanilla. Slim fast tastes good though and they have low carb ones. I've also had AdvantEdge low carb ready-to-drink protein shakes (the chocolate one) and it's VERY good, low carb, low calorie, low fat, and high protein! But I agree with oomboo2, add protein powder to a cup of milk. You can buy huge containers of whey or soy protein powders that are low carb and taste good. I actually just use water with the powder (I still think it tastes good) but using milk makes it a little creamier and adds more nutrients. | |||

| Yes, I am in treatment. I was inpatient back in October and November and now I'm back on a two-day a week outpatient basis. Yes, I have been slipping up a few times and yes, they know. I just wanted to know if this was a serious problem since it happened tonight and I'm alone in my dorm. Sorry if I broke any rules. | |||
| Health & Support | Anyone taken ZOLOFT? | Feb 03 2008 01:49 (UTC) |

| I was put on Zoloft this time last year. It made me constantly hungry and gain weight like crazy. I stopped taking it. I couldn't do it anymore (it's no way to recover from an eating disorder). So yea... I hate that stuff. But of course every person is different. I was always hyper though. Had a lot of energy. I was a lot happier but the weight thing totally crashed everything. Made me angry. So yea, that's what it did to me. Made me eat, gain weight, and be happy. In the end it so wasn't worth it though. | |||

| Weight Loss | Chocolate | Jan 28 2008 04:15 (UTC) |

I have a bag of Hershey's sugar free dark chocolate. It's yummy and when I crave chocolate I just eat a piece. Usually I break the piece into 4ths and let them melt in my mouth. It works for me.... just don't overload on sugar free chocolate; instant laxative!! Lol but a piece here and there won't hurt you. Especially dark, it's actually good to eat a serving a day. Great antioxidants in it.
Btw, I'm a chocoholic.... lol |

obviously a snack but sugar-free jello (it even comes in those snack pack cups) is like super filling for some reason. and in the snack packs it's 5 calories for the orange and strawberry flavor and 10 for the cherry. i don't really like jello but i got the cherry cups and they're really good and they make me feel really full even though it's just that little cup. i dunno.... worth a shot... it's even got 2% calcium in it! whoo... lol |

| Health & Support | EDNOS - eating disorder not otherwise specified | Jan 19 2008 00:38 (UTC) |
11 |
| I'm diagnosed with EDNOS. The only thing keeping me from being anorexic is that I am not quite 15% below my ideal weight. I mainly restrict and overexercise but occasionally I eat a little more of something and I purge it up. I don't binge, I just eat a little of something "bad" then purge. I've had it for 2 and a half years now. It's a hard disease to overcome because you're having to work on giving both restricting and purging. Don't get me wrong, anorexia and bulimia and compulsive overeating are also very hard to overcome. Every eating disorder is tough. You just have to remember there are others out there who will support and help you. | |||

| Health & Support | Do I have an eating disorder or just weird? | Jan 17 2008 16:59 (UTC) |
1 |
| you definately do not have an eating disorder which is a VERY good thing! trust me... not something you want at all.... but i'd say you have disordered eating (yes, just flipped around haha). right now you have picked up an obssession with food. that is usually the start of a big problem. you just need to watch yourself and don't let yourself start getting so obssessed that you beging cutting out certain foods or amounts of food. are there any other interests or hobbies of yours? try getting involved in something else. it'll keep your mind off of food and on something a little better to dive into. | |||
