Motivation Not Sure Where to Turn Feb 06 2008

First congratulations on a healthy baby.  One answer to your question is hormones levels have not returned to normal so you should begin to loose more weight  as time goes on...keep on doing what you are doing and it will come off.  It takes nine months to change and expand it is perfectly normal..to have it take 6 months for it to come off.  Some stars do it faster but they do it with personal trainers, housekeepers and chefs...not 6 kids doing it all on your own. Hang in it will come off.

I have narrow heels and a wide foot..a fellow at the running store taught me how to lace so you can tighten the heal but not the width part of your shoe.  I wish I could tell you how...i will try but I suggest you go to a running store and ask some one will know and it is a great solution.   lace as you normal do until you get to the last eyelet then don't cross over go straight in so it looks like a line then take the lace and cross each into the other side like you normally would.  When you put your shoe on you tighten like a pulley.  I am not sure I desribed it well but it works. without tightening the top as much good luck.

I think they are an acquired taste.  Have you tried sugar snap peas?

Do you like lemon juice(squeezed from the lemon)  I add it to lots of my veggies and it makes them okay for me.  Try and find one you like...there are a alot.

I hate carrots, and cauliflower but have found others.  Take Care

You addressed the issue with your "friend" and she ignored it, you probably should cool the friendship.  You don't have to end it just keep it strictly work related for awhile and I agree if she asks tell her the comment really hurt and that she is not respecting your feelings or your efforts.

Have you thought that she might be jealous..whether or not you have lost noticeable weight right now or not..did you used to eat lunch with her at MC D's every day?  She may be feeling like she has already lost you as a friend and trying to hurt you because you are making positive  changes and she is not ready.

Hopefully you have not let that de rail you from you weight loss efforts.  I disagree with trhawley..just because if she were really your friend she would have phrased it differently and she would have apologized when you confronted her she was just out to ruin you day...so hopefully you didn't and stayed on track.  I do agree with trhawley about american idols friends and loved ones...but I think it is totally different letting some one be publicly humiliated.. I bet you have a better support system somewhere else!

Hey

Don't beat yourself up to much.  Journal this somewhere on line.  Your choices could have been better but forget it for now.  I know I have done that stood at the cupboard going I want something else..but I am not really hungry.  Stay above 1200 -1600 and try to hit your goal of 1800 but don't eat  just to get it done.  Try and make good choices..search this site for helpful hints.  Don' t look at it as 100lbs right now break it down to smaller goals for starters.  GOOD LUCK

Weight Loss I quit smoking 45 days ago, gaining weight Jan 11 2008

Smoking does have a small effect on your metabolism...not enough to outweigh the benefits of quitting to be sure.   So first congratulate your self on this very healthy step.  A couple of questions?  Are you using any form of product to quit?  That might account for incremental weight changes right now.  Remember weight can flucuate greatly due to water retention and hormones as well.

Try moving around for short burst.  ie like taking a smoke break but walking briefly instead .or some deep breathing ex. to help keep your metabolism up.  Keep up the good work

Weight Loss alcohol revisited Jan 06 2008

I feel your struggle.  I need to commit to an alcohol free few months to kick start the weight loss.  I read somewhere a long time ago that alcohol decreases your metabolism by 10% no matter the kind and that beer causes the most weight gain because of the sugar it breaks down to...so that is my problem.  I golf with a bunc of skinny women who drink alot..so this going to be tough but I have to get it under control before golf season.  Thinkin of going to wine spritzers this summer when I feel like I have to drink..or using my hubby's excuse of blood sugar struggles(he does not have it) so people don't bother me about not drinking.  I do think you are right staying off alcohol for a while is helpful

I just found this site today by accident and your post on purpose.  I am working from home alot and find the same temptations as you do.  I am determined to get my weigt under control in 2008.  I am hoping to make small changes to loose slowly I know those are changes that last.  I was thin until I hit 42 and have gained 60 lbs in 8 years ugh!   I agree with lauren ideas and hope that I can make them work for me.  If you want a buddy I am more than willing.  What I love so far about this site is it is honest advice and it is free not some body wanting you to pay $5 to 9 a week for online support.      I know that drining water and the journal are well know serious tools to help.SmileGood luck
Weight Loss Is not eating 1200 cal very unhealthy? Jan 06 2008

Jimbopc is correct 1200 is the lowest reccommend target for most people; however there are many diet physicians that place people on 1000 cal a day for several weeks to jump start weight loss.  Eating the five or six mini  meals should keep you from going into starvation mode (diets below 1000).  That is often trigged by skipping meals or saving all your calories up for one meal.  Is your diet more protien than carbs?  Protien fills you up as it takes longer to digest so you may be eating more protien.   Are you losing?  Are you eating healthy foods? Those are the questions I would be asking my self.  Good luck
