hey ladies! just like you, innocent_sin, i came on for some motivation pre-weekend...i'm having a dinner party this saturday. i don't know about you gals, but when i'm having people over, i seem to revert back to my old ways of cooking, and that always seems to mean adding extra fat and calories to make the food "tastier"...i should be focusing on serving my friends healthy meals, but i just love "comfort food"...especially in the winter...i'm in New England too, innocent_sin...we didn't do to badly with this storm, thank goodness! foxylady...i laughed at you weighing yourself until you were under a certain weight...i do the SAME THING!! too funny! Thank you for the "foods to stay away from" reminder...i can never be reminded enough...especially the part about eating my fresh fruits and veggies!! welcome to all the new gals on board...we can never have enough motivation and support. thank you, too, to all the familiar names out there who i can always count on for some new advice, or just to hear how you all are doing....have a great weekend! |

hi everyone, i'm in the exact same boat as everyone else seems to be in....the only difference with me is that i was not brave enough to come on and post my horrible weekend, oh hell, my horrible week and a half, at the beginning of the week!! I envy all you brave and confident gals who fessed up right away and didn't hide from their failure...i'm going to try like heck from now on and WE CAN DO IT! at times i just don't feel motivated anymore (until i think of summer and being at the beach). reading that i'm not the only one in a slump helps me not to feel as bad about falling off the wagon. i know it happens to everyone at times but it's so easy to be so hard on yourself you loose all hope for change! good luck everyone! oh, and i did finally get on the scale today and i'm up to 127...gained a pound. not as horrible as i thought it would be...that gives me hope...still have 12 pounds to go!! |

hi friends, i know i'm a bit late weighing-in on this (no pun intended) innocent-sin, but i just went to the doctors yesterday and received completely different news...just goes to show you how confusing these doctor's can be!! my height is 4'10" (just a shade under tall..haha!) and i weighed in 128 (fully clothed) at the doctors. I asked him what a healthy weight should be for me and his words exactly were " i probably should give you the 'doctor' answer and look at your BMI, but the BMI doesn't take into account many factors like body frame. I look at the whole picture, your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. and those look great so i say you're fine." right now my BMI is 28, which i thought was awful, but he said that it really wasn't that bad. If i aimed for a BMI of 25 (which my doctor said was great but i thought was still high) i should weigh 120. I was hoping to get between 110-115 but now i'm thinking that's too much to loose, especially when my doctor thinks i'm fine as i am!!! CRAZY! i think that all you ladies out there who said that WE know our bodies best were right. when you are comfortable with the weight you are at, that's where you should be (considering you are healthy). i personally think that everyone's body has an "ideal weight" that it's comfortable at, unfortunately for most of us, our body's comfort weight is heavier than we'd like it. so, let me know what you think of my doctor's opinion...it was my first time visiting him and i'm not sure what to think!!! thanks all! |

| OK..it's monday...official weigh-in: 127.5. Lost a pound from last week but gained a pound and a half in the last 3 days of the week...d!*n weekend!! it's been torture trying to eat right this weekend. went to my favorite restaurant on saturday night and couldn't resist their house dressing on my salad (and my dinner roll...yikes) not to mention the main meal itself (chicken parm with mashed potatoes). Then on Sunday a friend brought over another irrestible treat...smoked ribs! i did well portion wise with them, but even one rib is too many when you're on a diet, right?? To make matters worse, the leftovers are calling me from the fridge right now! Oh well, this week is another week and i'm DETERMINED to loose what i gained and more!! I will have to forget about those ribs!! How did you guys do? Superbowl can be tough (and because i'm a pats fan i was stress-eating...how horrible was that game???!!!!) Can't wait to hear from you, friends! | |||

hello friends!! i am so glad to hear that everyone is doing well. great job getting back on track, paige!! i have some good news...for the past few weeks i have weighed in from 129 to 128.5, then 128. i knew i was loosing, but i was getting sooo discouraged that the weight was coming off so slowly. i hopped on the scale today and it was down to 126!! I am thrilled. SO, everyone out there who is loosing slowly or not at all, don't despair! just keep at it and it will happen! i'm not counting this as my official weigh-in because a VERY TRICKY WEEKEND is upon us. SUPERBOWL!! My new loss just may keep me away from the hot wings and fatty dips and chips...maybe! official weigh-in monday for me...talk to you all then (fingers crossed for 126 still) wishing everyone an incredible weekend...congrats on the anniversary, paige...good luck with the potential car buying! |

| thanks for the support, paige! my hubby is very supportive of the new eating lifestyle. he does a good portion of the grocery shopping and has switched from ground beef to turkey, buys plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, and has also gotten some of those 100 calorie packs...nice for snacking. hopefully he'll start loosing without even knowing it. he carries his weight right around his middle, not good for heart disease and he was just diagnosed with high blood pressure. thank goodness we are making this change!! | |||

Hi ladies! weighed in this morning at 128. down another 1/2 lb. i was hoping to see more of a loss, but it's better than nothing. only down 4 lbs overall. my head knows that's a healthy weight loss pattern, but a friend of mine came over this afternoon and she's been dieting a week less and already lost 8lbs. depressing!! thanks for the food suggestions innocent sin. i LOVE my red meat and veggies so i'm definitely going to try it. i just got an email from a friend of mine who is planning a bachelorette party for a mutual friend in NYC in july. there was mention of "strip dancing" lessons....that's an inspiration for further weight loss right there!!! runnergirl..thanks for the reminder of this being a lifestyle change, not a diet...it helps soooo much to think of it that way. keep on keepin' on everyone!

hi everyone! i have to say...i just love reading everyone's posts!! i'm sorry i've been so out of touch. paige, congrats on the test results; runnergirl, good luck on that date tonight...you'll find something healthy, i'm sure, and indulge in 1/2 a dessert if you must...a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! vegetariangeek...thanks so much for that pasta primavera tip, i LOVE pasta and have been shying away from it in restaurants, but i'm definitely going to try the "eating the veggies first" thing...yum! foxylady, thanks for the clean eating challenge...i'm in! i've been doing very good staying off the scale during the week (i tend to get a little ocd with weigh ins). posting monday works great for me because i'm usually busy with family day on sunday and don't have a chance to log on. anyone plagued with constant hunger lately? i don't know what it is but i was FINE for the first few weeks of this reduced calorie diet and this week i've been soooo hungry and eating just as much as usual...i can't figure it out, it's not my 'girlie time', haven't been working out more...???? |

hi friends! just wanted to say how great it is to hear everyone's progress! I'm still chipping away at my weight loss...one portion size at a time. that is my biggest weakness...i just WANT that second helping of everything! innocent_sin...i have the same problem as you with regard to eating dinner late, especially now that my maternity leave is over and i'm back to work...it's virtually impossible to get dinner on the table before 7, most nights 8. anyone with advice?? also...was wondering how often you ladies weigh yourselves. i think i'm starting to get a little obsessive with it, weighing myself every day (sometimes am and pm). my weight seems to vary so much that it's hard to get an actual number so i'm wondering if i should only weigh myself once a week and hide the scale for the other 6 days. it's soooo easy to go overboard, isn't it? thank you to everyone...you guys are the best! |

hi all! still doing fairly well with my food choices, although my italian mama made some incredible chicken that i had to indulge in today...lite dinner for me! it's been two days since i've logged in my food and i HAVE to get back to it...it's so helpful to see what i'm actually eating. i've been subbing all week long in a kindergarten classroom and i'm counting that as my exercise...works for me! sorry to hear about your recent health issues, paige98...we're here for you! i go to the doc's in a few weeks and i'm dreading it!! welcome to all new members..this group is great...keep up the good work everyone! ps...runnergirl...i was right there with you eating all the bad gameday stuff, only wasn't lucky enough to have game tickets...what happens in the playoffs, stays in the playoffs...haha!! |

hi kelly! my daughter is almost 6 months old and i was very dissappointed to discover that my last 10 lbs of pregnancy weight didn't just "dissappear" like the rest had!! i had friends (very lucky friends) who didn't have to do a thing to get back to their pre-pregnancy bodies. me...not so lucky! I'm 28, and at 4'10", 10lbs looks like a lot of weight on my frame. My starting weight 132, hoping to get to 110 (10 lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight...we'll see!!) I've been successfully dieting since January 3rd and am down 3lbs already. I've discovered that because i am home all the time with the baby i was mindlessly eating and just not paying attention to what i was putting in my mouth. the fast, convient food i had in the house was chuck full of calories and never seemed to fill me up. This is what has worked for me so far: 1. I log in ALL the food i've eaten on this site...it's amazing how fast the little things add up! this keeps me in check and forces me to really think about what i'm eating. I try to stay between 1300 and 1400 calories in a day. 2. I've switched up lots of food in my house. i literally threw out all the "bad" junk food one day when i had just had it with my poor snacking habits. High protein/high fiber food fills you up faster so you eat less. Some of the better food on hand now...whole nuts, rice cakes, yogurt, lots of pre-cut veggies and hummus, 100 calorie packs for sweet cravings. I've also switched from white rice to brown, white pasta to whole grain, white potatoes to sweet, etc. 3. when the baby naps, i turn on an exercise video and MOVE for just 30 minutes, sometimes only 20 when she decides to wake up early. Some days I can't when i'm home alone so i wait for my hubby to come home and give him the baby for 30 minutes. This can be hard with twins, but i imagine you're moving around plenty just taking care of them! 4. i've made it a family lifestyle change and my husband is on board! this makes it so much easier because we're supporting each other. I know i've only been doing this for a couple of weeks and i am by no means an expert, but this has been working for me so far. It really helps to have friends on this site to motivate and inspire so THANK YOU for writing in!! It's amazing how many of us are in the same boat! |

I agree with you waddope-i was eating mindlessly and just not paying attention to what went in my mouth. ayngelina...i feel for you...i'm 2" shorter than you and know what it's like to have extra weight on such a small frame and try to loose it...but we can do it!! Everyone just keep thinking summer, even with all this snow in the NE! ps...anyone else fall prey to weekend "football game food" |

Hey Girls! Staying on track this week! yahoo! This is actually the first time I'm sticking with this whole diet thing...and it feels great! I agree with you, lin27, that actually having to log in everything i put in my body is helping me from "mindless t.v. eating". I was famous for that! I am definitely in for the 2-5 lb. loss by the end of January. Current Weight: 131 Long Term Goal: 110 by May 17th (anniversary!) at 4'10" it's should be reasonable, right?? I'm hoping!! Exercise Goal: Alternate cardio one day and Yoga the next Keep up the good work everyone!! |

hi everyone...just had my first day back to work after 5 months off with my baby...depressing! now i have a terrible headache and want nothing more than a big cocktail and a brownie sundae! i guess i'll have to settle with a yogurt and some broiled fish. can't stand to think that i have to do it all again tomorrow, but i was very good today-eating my whole wheat pita with hummus & veggies and an apple. i actually still have 750 calories left...maybe a diet hot chocolate as a treat for dessert? Hope that you all are doing well. |

Hi Everyone!! I'm new to this thread and am SOOO HAPPY to have found so many people in the same situation as me. I'm 28 years old and just had my first beautiful baby girl (by c-section) in July and am struggling to lose the weight. I'm only 4'10" and weight in at 132 lbs. All you short girls out there know that a mere 5 lb gain looks like a lot more on our small frames!! I'm looking to lose at least 20 pounds...i am realistic and don't think i'll ever get back to my 100 pound high school weight, but a girl can dream.... i'm aiming at 1300-1400 calories a day-high fiber, whole wheat, lots of fruits and veggies...also trying to get in 20 minutes of aerobics and 30 minutes of yoga a day. Exercise is NOT my favorite, so i'm aiming high knowing that i probably won't get in that much Thank you all for your inspirational words...i'm definitely in for the weigh-ins. |
