yes, you can totally eat your chocolate! It all comes down to eating less than your daily calorie needs and you'll lose weight. others on here will disagree, but I believe a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. |

The best thing while traveling is just to make the best food choices you can- ask for grilled, steamed, dressing on the side. I travel a lot for work and unfortunately, business trips involve a lot of socializing and ... drinking. To keep people from commenting about my lack of wine sipping, I always order a soda and lime. Keeps you hydrated, on track with the diet, and people just assume it's a vodka tonic. ^_^ |

I clean a plate every time! (Ugh, yesterday it was at chipotle with an entire bag of chips and guac- oops). Things that do work for me: bag up half your meal at a restaurant and eat for a later meal (thus not wasting) and using only the small plates at your house. Oh, and I serve myself a portion from what I make at home and put the rest away in the fridge before I even start eating. Hope these help- you'll do great! |

Personally I'd veer on the side of over estimating calorie consumption, disregard the 'revisit,' and take tomorrow as a new day. Btw, congrats on making it three weeks! I know how hard it can be when it feels like your social life revolves around it- keep it up! the not drinking, not the revisiting. LOL. |

| Weight Loss | For singles: cooking for one? | Apr 11 2008 17:44 (UTC) |

I've been a huge fan of freezing as of late. I'm in the same boat and every evening I want to whip up something new, I just divide the leftovers into single servings and plop them in the freezer. They're great for grabbing one on the way out the door for work, and perfect for those nights you don't want to actually cook. Plus, way better tasting than store bought frozen entrees, less expensive and way less sodium.

No, I've wanted to but although my gym offers 3-4 beginner classes a day on them, they're always booked. I'd be curious for feedback on it as well! |

Definitely 3-5 for me. And the scale will NOT budge until four days after. i guess its good though, keeps me on my toes every time to make sure that its not a true weight gain! |

I never thought this was possible, but I actually have given up drinking for the past 3 weeks and surprisingly lost 10 pounds by changing nothing else. I still go out 4 times a week, but just order soda water and lime now, mmm... so good that I crave it now! just wanted to throw it out there. |

I ran into a similar problem a few months back... that is until I bought a food scale. It's amazing what I thought was a portion compared to reality. Might be worth looking into if you don't currently have one. Just a thought. |

| Weight Loss | Help I need some advice!! | Mar 26 2008 16:25 (UTC) |

Why not invest in some high protein shakes to supplement your work outs, and throw in some bananas, honey, etc. to boost cals? or my fav non diet meal is 3 eggs + veggies + cheese into omelet with a little bit of salsa. Just incorporating more protein and carbs into meals will help balance out your day. I agree, I'm watching my calories and I still think it'd be hard to eat 1100 cals in one meal! Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | Deficits... Again | Mar 26 2008 16:19 (UTC) |

A deficit of more than 1000 a day for a week increases your weight loss of over 2lbs a week. There are a lot of debates, but from what I understand, a 2lb loss a week is considered healthy. I think as long as its not a daily thing, you'll be fine. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? |

ooh yeah, the joys of point counting, lol. I try to eat a 1000 calorie deficit every day, and no more than that. If i work out, definitely make sure that I eat more to not exceed 1000 cal def. I've been doing spinning lately, it completely beats me up, but surprisingly growing to like it. Oh, how i miss the sunshine, i grew in the SW! |

Hi, I'd love to join. I also need a good challenge and a group to keep me in check. Read the book, it was good and i actually went vegan for three months because of it but realized i missed my cheese too much! Going on vacay in may, need to get beach body ready... 5'10 SW:162 CW:156 GW: 148 by April 19th UGW:140 *edit 4/9* 3/18: 152.2 3/22: 149.8 3/26: 148.8 (-1.0) 3/29: 147.4 (-1.4) yay! Haven't been this weight in 5 years! 4/2: 147.0 (-.4) 4/5: 148 (+1), 4/9: 145.0 (-3!) 4/16: 144.5 (-.5) Sorry for the delayed weigh in, I started a new job this week and its been crazy. Also, I just discovered shirataki noodles at whole foods today (in their tofu section)- these noodles are no carb, high fiber, low cal, no fat, honestly, the best noodle replacement you think of. not perfect, but still good. they made me excited, so i thought i'd pass on!

Hi ladies, I'm 5'10 as well, started at 162, am now down to 156, hoping to get somewhere neat 140 before I go on vacation in May... how's the weather down in Texas? It's still pretty cold up here in chicago, so it's a little harder to keep myself focused on swimsuit season. :) how long have you been a member of cc? |

Hi Ladies, Can I join your small group? I too have a goal date of the first week of May (Going on a vacay may 16th!), so this would work out great. 5'10, starting weight 160, current weight 156 goal weight by May 5th 145, ultimate goal weight 140.

it wouldn't hurt to also talk to your doctor about the weight loss you're trying to attain as well. I had to eat (haha i mean drink) liquids for two months and amazingly lost 35 lbs and of course once i ate solids again I went right back to where i was before plus some. The doctor might be able to explain the changes in your body- it could very well be going through some sort of readjustment period. side note, was the size four while you were ill? just remember to keep expectations realistic. i wanted to be a size four again so badly, but it took me awhile to realize i was only a four because i had my mouth wired shut and wasn't healthy... |

| Weight Loss | How is it possible... | Jan 25 2008 19:18 (UTC) |

Hi Firefilly- all bodies are different and fit differently in clothing. Also, some companies are known for their vanity sizing. I'm not going to lie- the only reason I continued to wear Abercrombie jeans after college was because I magically fit into a size 4 there- and only there. Elsewhere I was an 8 or a 10.... don't compare yourself- if you feel great, own it! oh, and you might have more muscle than your friend- muscle weighs more than fat. |

Wow, sounds like the infamous Fat Flush with the mystery fat burning cranberry juice... Have to be honest though, water weight or not, this plan works and I have been known to follow it before a big event, knowing full well I can't make the weight loss stick. if nothing else, it sure feels nice to jump start the weight loss and to stay positive with dieting! |

I just thought it was because I'm out of shape that my toes went numb. lol. I'm definitely going to give the new lacing a try. Also I find that wiggling my toes while on the machine makes my toes wake up quickly and usually don't go numb again until the next time I work out. |
