| Weight Loss | Petite? | Jun 26 2008 04:19 (UTC) |

Sign me up for support from fellow short people. OK, those of you over 5'2" can claim "petite". Those under are just short. I'm 4'9" and down to 98.2 (as of this morning). I was at 108 in January. My problem is that all my weight is in my stomach. My waist is down to 27", but stays there. It is bad since I also have high cholesterol, a plate in my back (car accident), had over 31% body fat, and am 34 years old. I'm now 27% body fat, but would like to reduce this number to at least 25. I've never lost weight before, this site has helped tremendously. The simple math of calories in must be less and exercise must increase has been what has worked for me. |

| Weight Loss | I'm Sorry to get all mushy but I'm just having one of those mornings where I feel worthless | Jun 21 2008 15:28 (UTC) |

I am 4'9" and had the opposite problem. I had boobs in the 4th grade. In 8th grade, this boy said to me, "You look 10 - why did the boobs get wasted on you!" I then had a boy go out with me for a joke. These were traumatic then and I cried a ton! Things changed in a few years. I am now 34 and married to a wonderful man. I used to date only tall men, but my husband now is 5'4" and it rocks! Attraction is important. I have a weakness for built men - usually this goes with tall ones, but there are a few short ones. Anyway, you mentioned getting dressed up for church in a post. If you are a Christian, that is where your answer lies. Get very involved with Bible studies, get involved with serving God. Volunteer at your church. Find a young adult group. If you focus your energy on serving Him and developing friendships with other Christians, you will find that your focus will change. I don't think you sound immature - I think you are longing for closeness and intimacy. If you fill this with God . . . truly fill this with God, I think He will provide you your heart's desire in a wonderful husband one day! If you aren't really a believer and just attend church with your parents, then I apologize for wasting space on your post and sounding like a loon to you.

| Vegetarian | Portabello Mushroom Burgers??? | Jun 17 2008 17:47 (UTC) |

Dale's Sauce. Not sure if they sell it outside the south yet, but it is wonderful and makes the mushroom more "burger" tasting. I like mine with swiss cheese and some grilled onions. Yum!! |

| Weight Loss | I HATE being short! | Jun 12 2008 04:23 (UTC) |

Wow! You lost 12 pounds - way to go! I am 4'9" and now love being short as it saved my life. I was in the backseat of a car in the middle with just a lap belt. We were involved in a head-on collision. I dislocated my spine. The surgeon who fixed my back said that had a been even 1/8 of an inch taller, I would have been killed instantly! God has a reason we are short! It sucks sometimes as the pounds show up so much! I am 34 and struggle with weight because I eat as much as my normal-sized friends. My first husband was 6 feet, which didn't help because he could eat a ton. I recently remarried and Shawn is 5'4", so he understands my struggle with portion control. Things that worked for me : using a smaller plate, eating half, putting fresh veggies and fruit right in the front of the fridge, etc. We are at about the same place now - I am at 100 pounds (which would be around 125 if I were 5'2"). I'd like to lose about 5 more pounds, but I'm trying to have a baby. |

| I have one day a week that is my "eat whatever" day. It is important for me because I then have something to look forward to. Also, if I cave one day, then that is my "cheat" day and it takes the guilt off and keeps me from getting too frustrated. Whenever I have dieted in the past, I failed miserably because I would become so focused on what I could not have. There is also some scientific stuff that says that having a cheat day one day a week helps you lose weight. In my whopping almost two months using cc, I have weighed less the morning after my cheat days. I've lost 5 pounds so far, which is amazing for me as I have never lost weight before! Good Luck! | |||
| Fitness | Need to add resistance training... and can not go to gym... a little help, please | Feb 19 2008 04:17 (UTC) |

Go to www.weightlessfitness.com. The guy is a friend of mine and I have seen him truly sculpt his body in the past 3 years just doing resistance training stuff around the house, at the park, and while waiting on a plane in an airport! He has DVDs, but you can just watch the clips to get some ideas of things you can do around the house to exercise.

| I've got the one where you do your own songs. If you aren't that good, it works well as long as you use songs with an obvious beat. I'm 34, so I like classic rock. Unfortunately, Van Halen doesn't work so well on it. Hip hop songs work well. If you can find it cheap on Ebay, give it a try. | |||
| Foods | Can I freeze a homemade smoothie? | Jan 10 2008 03:57 (UTC) |

I freeze the unused portion all the time. Then you can just stick it in the blender again (you will need to defrost it a little first), add some more liquid (I usually add whatever kind of juice I've got in the fridge) and go for it. I don't know about the freezing part making it lose nutrients. The microwave defrosting I do probably isn't the best idea, but it beats my old doughnut and a Coke breakfast! |

| Weight Loss | Is anyone else out there short and in their 20s? | Jan 10 2008 02:17 (UTC) |

| How funny, Mcderin! I hit post, read yours, and thought they did something quirky to my post. Then logic set in and I realized that they couldn't possibly have altered my posting so quickly. I then read the rest of the post and saw your info! | |||

| I'm not in my 20's. I'm 34, but can pass for in my 20's (late 20's) since I'm 4'9". I'm at 106 and need to get down back under 100 as I've got high colesterol. I too struggle with all my weight seeming to stay in my stomach. This site is great - I'm never "on the charts" when I go to the doctor to find out what I should weigh. Dieting is a huge struggle - I put the portions on my plate that everyone else has and forget how short I am! | |||
