It could just be that as you're doing weight training, you're increasing the amount of muscle in your body. Muscle weighs more than fat so prehaps that's what happened...

I don't think anythings wrong, just fluctuations. It's quite normal depending on what time of the month it is too.

Hope this was of little help!! Smile

That would be soo nice if that was it.   I need to check my measurements I guess.  My dress size hasn't changed just what the scale says.  I don't even weigh myself everyday anymore (I used to) as it was driving me insane.   I am probably over thinking the whole numbers on the scale thing.  I am so used to the weight being what to accept as my goal.

I can't exercise in the morning, my schedule just dosn't let me.  I workout in the late afternoon or early evening for about an hour or so.  I find that after workouts if I just sit and veg in front of the tv/pc for an hour or so sleeping isnt a problem. Laughing

What about freecycle??  Freecycle are local yahoo groups where peeps give everything away for free. There are always people looking for clothes and they get picked up pretty fast. Laughing

I go to garage sales every weekend and have found some awesome smaller clothes (Yippee!) which helps with my budget.  My bigger clothes I sold some at our garage sale, and the rest I freecycled.

Hi,

I am 5'2" and right now 128lbs,, down from 152lbs.  My original goal weight was 130lb but now I am going to try to get to 125lb.  I use free weights and count calories which has been working well for me.  I also cut out pop and sweets thou I do have a cookie or York Peppermint patty from time to time. Laughing

I am 5' 2" 35 (soon to be 36 on Sat.Undecided ) and am at 129 right now.  I started with CC in Jan. at 152lbs and today I weighed in at 129.4lbs.  I have three children (13, 8 & 6) and just could not seem to get those extra pounds off.  My goal right now is 125lbs which isnt far off.

I eat between 1200 / 1600 a day and started weight / strength training. I don't do much cardio other than walking right now.  Weight training has been the key to my weight loss.  I am trying to tone up those dreaded arms (I really do not want to flap in the wind.. Surprised ) and the  butt / thighs.

First off ,, this is a great thread.

Question,, I use freeweights three times a week.  I can curl 20lbs 2 reps of 12 and I don't feel it until right at the end.

If it takes me longer to fatigue should I go with a higher weight less reps then?

thanks!

Thanks! I am learning tons , I never realized about the build and burn.  That makes total sense.  My biggest fear has been that my body would gain fat instead of building muscle.

So,, if I want to start to build muscle I need to get to my goal weight first correct?

I have another question that sort of goes along with this.  I know with having a calorie deficit I wont gain muscle but I am toning/shaping what I have correct? I have starting noticing how my arms are looking a lot better (yea!).

justlaura took the words right out of my mouth.  I too have lost a lot of weight, am starting to get serious about strength training and under no circumstances want to gain any weight back.  Input and advice would be greatly appreciated.

That is my point exactly! I have lost 20lbs and am paranoid that I will put it back on.

A pound a week sounds like your doing great! I started out losing a lb a week when I was at my highest weight (152).  Now that I am very close to my goal I am losing slower.  Watch how your clothes fit, you will be amazed.  Smile

I started taking it when I weighted 152lbs and I have lost almost 20lbs.  I have not had a side effect yet from it.  I do watch what I eat though, no fast food, nothing greasy or full of fat.

I take all three pills a day and still do eat some fats (such as butter).  I think you just need to be very careful of what you eat and when you eat it.

Weight Loss HELP! I've encountered the diet devil! Mar 17 2008

Keep at it you will break through! Smile  I stalled at 142lb for quite a while and thought I would never ever ever get into the 130s.  Well,, I broke through that and am now trying to get from the high 130s into the low 130s (it has been over a month now).   I actually found that by slowing down on my cardio and upping my strength training helped.  I also started zig zagging my calories,, I eat from 1200 to 1600 ,something different every day.

Weight Loss Water weight question Mar 17 2008
15:11 (UTC)

I have been doing the zig zagging with my calories.  I don't go below 1200 but go from 1200 to 1600 depending on the day.  That was seeming to work, but alas I didnt calorie count when I was gone. :(  I also was trying to make sure to eat a tad bit more as I was walking for hours at a time.

I was thinking that the weight should go down within a few days.  I am just so bummmed!

Whew... thanks everyone for the replies.  I was so bummed this morning.  I am going to keep my fingers crossed that its water weight,, drink a ton of water today and see what happens over the next few days.  I sort of knew that Subway was not  a healthy choice. But,, they are so tempting and I was tired and didnt feel like chopping up a salad.

I dont think I ate an extra 10,500 calories this past week.  I did eat a bit more, but that was me thinking to make sure I ate enough with all the swimming/walking that I was going to do.  We usually walk at least 3 to 4 hours at a park (thats minus the sitting for eating/riding rides/ riding the buses to get there etc).

Yup,, flmousears is my screen name for ebay too.  Laughing  I wanted something that was disney / mickey themed. LOL

Weight Loss Any suggestions for at home workouts? Mar 07 2008

Our gym/workout room is still in the process of being built where I live.  So for now I have to workout at home.  I find that if I don't do something I worry worry and worry even more that I am going to backslide.

I went out and bought a flat bench and free weights and an elliptical.  I use both and have to really make sure that I carve out time to do them.  I always am torn between cleaning the house/taking care of the kids  then working out.  I now have figured out a plan to stick to (cardio 2 days a week / strength training 3 days) and so far have lost 15lbs.   I also sometimes jump rope and use my stairs but I find that I need to mix it up a bit or it gets a tad bit boring. :)

Weight Loss Waking around Disney Mar 05 2008

If you want to log in walking around Disney use "walking for pleasure".

I go to WDW two to three times a week (I live behind Magic Kingdom about 4 mintues away from the castmember entrance) and between riding on rides , sitting to eat and standing in line you need to shave off a few hours.  Remember though,, I can walk for about 3/4 hours (which is from being at the parks for about 7/8 hours) and still burn around 600 / 700 calories.

If you want to be more specific then you need to actually figure out how much time you did walk.  I sometimes if I want a better caluclation I will time how long I sit or stand in a line.  Plus,, some of the parks are better for walking ,, example: Epcot.  I can get in quite a bit more walking than say Magic Kingdom as at MK there are more rides/standing time.

Hope this all makes sense. :)

Weight Loss Cannot lose a pound to save my life...Help! Feb 28 2008

Hi

Just going to throw in my 2 cents here.

I am also leaning towards the upping your calories side of things.  I am 5'2" and started out at 152lb and could not lose anything.  I finally realized that I was working out (2 hours a day at the gym) and eating only about 1000 calories a day (I eat alot ,, I mean alot of salads).   Once I cut back on working out and upped my calories to 1400 I have lost weight.  Today I am now at 136 which is 6lbs away from my goal weight of 130.   I only drink water and had to figure out a way to add in some sort of proteins.  I am not veg. but do not eat alot of meat /eggs / milk products (except maybe butter).  I started adding baked potatos (I eat them w/ just butter / salt and pepper) and that has helped.

Take a break from all the cardio and up your calories a bit and see what happens. Smile

Thats what I thought about eating as far as calories go.  I think I have worried myself into a corner that I am not doing something right and that I have done all the math wrong. I have been losing about a lb a week for over a month.  Since I didnt really lose this week I am totally freaking out. Frown

Okay.. I want to make sure I am doing this right.

My BMR is 1390.03 I multiply that by 1.375 ( for light activity) and I come up with 1911.  So that is the minimum amount of calories for me to eat?

I clicked in a few activities today (showering, cardio etc) and my burn meter shows that I burned 1094 so far for today.

Sorry this has been covered to death.. I am still a bit confused. :(
