| Pregnancy & Parenting | Screaming! | Nov 23 2009 23:35 (UTC) |

I think expecting him to differentiate between his "safe zone" and public is asking too much. I think you should let him know that his behavior is not desirable and leave it to him to try new behaviors until he hits on one that is a good way to express himself. Personally the few times my kiddo tried screaming to express himself I screamed right back. It shocked him so much he quit. It worked for us but I think each child is so different you'll have to try a couple of approaches until you find what works for you. Good luck! |

| Health & Support | My fiance just got told he probably has a couple tumors | Nov 23 2009 23:27 (UTC) |

I'm so sorry to hear it but remember just because a person has a tumor doesn't mean it's malignant. Don't let yourself dwell on maybes. Dwell on what IS as you get news. Dwelling on what might be won't help either of you. I was engaged to a man that had a tumor in his chest 6"x8"x3". The cancer center where he was getting treatment said it was the largest they'd seen. It had pushed his heart around to where it had decreased output and his lung capacity on the left side was down TO 30%. He went through chemo then radiation. It hasn't been back in 10 years. I know this isn't necessarily the norm but it is possible! Keep that in mind! I'll be praying for you! Great job on the sode too! ;-)

I find myself rooting for Rudy because something about him vaguely reminds me of Tara. Something about his mouth and his demeanor. I LOVED Tara but this year I can't really get behind anyone in particular. I was sad to see Rebecca go. I REALLY think they should have voted off Liz. |

That's a good point, gi-jane. I hadn't thought about it my helping promote it by not reporting it. Seems like a Duh! now that you mention it. Where are the guidelines for what's ok to post? I wouldn't want to report someone who is having problems and sincerely asking for help stopping. I don't think ED posts should be kept completely away but I certainly don't want to continue helping promote advice on how to restrict calories or the such. |

Thanks, priceless!! nabila, are you older or younger and by how much. suki, age never mattered to me when I was dating guys older than me. I think it's when the woman is older or there is a signifigant age difference that people think much of it. My fiance's grandpa is 20 years older than his wife and she colors her hair GREY so that they look closer in age. He thinks it's weird I think it's cute. =D |

I am 36 (tomorrow) and my fiance is 28. I think we are perfect for each other but I must admit that I let our age difference bother me. I'm struggling with how to answer without typing an entire book. The main reason is because I worry about the complications of bearing children at my age but I still want more kids. Also he has a tendency to defer to my opinion in situations because I will generally have more experience in whatever area a decision needs made for. I think he needs a little bit of a mommy (his mom wasn't much of a parent) and I don't want to be that role. It isn't conducive to romance! LOL We are really great together though. I can't imagine my life without him and trust me it isn't some flowery sentiment. I'm very reserved with my love but he's definitely won me over! In a strange way it isn't my ideal (what I always dreamed of as a little girl) but I wouldn't change any of our relationship for an instant. I think the affects of an age difference vary for the personalities involved and their priorities for their lives and relationships. |

I have noticed that and I don't understand or agree with eating disorders so I just back out and move on. I'm ignorant about causes of EDs so I have nothing to offer those people. Some days, unfortunately, I let ED posts keep me from the forums entirely because I don't want to deal with wasting time reading a thread that turns out to be about EDs. I also get frustrated over the ladies who seem to be here to get attention for the sake of attention instead of actual help/advice/support etc. |

They always do that later in the season so that at the end when they have the big reveal it's even more dramatic. |

Congrats!! You've done great! I'm so happy for you! Sit down and write your "future" self a letter of encouragement to stay on track. Write the reasons you're so glad you've made the journey and the reasons that you should always maintain the benefit of your hard work. Then later when you are lacking motivation you can read the letter and hopefully it will renew your spirits!

I'm iron deficient anemic. Take a B complex too. Being low on B vitamins can cause anemia. And if you take a vitamin C when you take the iron it helps absorption. I find that the SlowFe iron vitamins are a little easier on the bowels. =D

| Foods | What soda does to your body | Nov 04 2009 21:55 (UTC) |

I've heard all of those reasons before. The main one I notice is when I don't drink soda I don't eat as much. I was reading that anything with a high sugar content elivates your sugar rapidly so your body produces insulin to counteract it but it's a bit behind so you wind up with too much insulin then your body craves sugar to balance insulin levels. It's a nasty cycle. Most interesting thing about the Yahoo article was the difference between regular tea and herbal teas. |

Is Tracy driving everyone as crazy as she is me? I don't like her sense of wishing ill will on the other contestants. I feel bad for Shay but I'm over her situation too. BL is driving me away with the harping on people's bad situations. We all have s*** we call have baggage. Get over that part and move on to the weight loss! This is the first year I haven't been crazy rooting for one person already. I'm very ambivalent about everyone except Tracy. |

| The Lounge | How do I find a way to help diabetes research? | Oct 12 2009 23:02 (UTC) |

I hadn't thought about them following suit. Maybe I just need to be vocal about my wanting to get involved. I usually just do my thing but maybe this time I should make a point to mention it to them. I'd like for some of my unaffected (yet) family members to take more of an interest so they are educated about what our mom, brother and aunts have to endure because of the disease. Thanks so much for thanking gddrdld! She is the type of person that helped my brother when he first got diagnosed. She's a blessing to those rocked by the news!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Just in time too! The walk in my area is this Saturday!!! I was hoping to get involved soon but wow!! I'm so glad you saw my post and were kind enough to answer. I'm too late to form a team and raise funds but I can volunteer to help clean up after the walk then pursue additional ways of helping out and form a team for next years walk. I just wish I could get the people I love (who have diabetes) to join in! |

A great way to eat breakfast on the road is Oatmeal packets. The coffee machines have a spigot at the top that puts out hot water. I carry oatmeal packets so I can grab a styrofoam coffee cup, toss in my oatmeal (and for those of you that like it nuked they usually don't mind you tossing it in their micro)and then I just eat it from the cup. Most convenience stores are selling fruit too. Pricey but it will help your nutritional intake. If not just grab a little V8 or OJ (just don't over do the high cal juice). Plus I would add, just because you aren't eating at a chain doesn't mean you can't eat "out". Grab some grub like they mentioned above then go to a park or any where else people are out and about that you can bring your own food. You can take your food and eat at a food court in a mall. Who's going to tell you no there? Plus you'll get a little exercise getting to it! |

Congratulations!!! You've done an amazing thing! I feel ashamed for being discouraged about losing from 180 to 140! And I should be ashamed of it! I can't imagine where the internal strength came from but I'm so glad you found it! I'm happy for your wife that she isn't watching your suffering any longer because sometimes it's harder to watch than to go through. |

I had to go the doc last week. She told me that stress alone can prevent us from losing weight. Said it has to do with our cortisol levels and it causing a lowed metabolism. Are you under a high amount of stress? |

Awww. Some problems are "good" ones to have. I think you'll do great! Just take it slow. Don't pressure yourself! Of course you'll be nervous but when you find a person that's a good fit for you things will work out! In the mean time. . .play, have fun, don't take the flirting so seriously that you don't enjoy it. And CONGRATULATIONS!!!! |

I agree. Time for a doctor visit. If it weren't for the meds I would say diabetes too (I have it extensively in my family so I'm well aware it can appear normal on one test) We just can't know enough about those meds. . .and what was the antibiotic for? Maybe that's returned and the symptoms are different because of the decrease in meds. Good luck! |

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
