It isn't the same as having a yummy pie but what I do is slice up some apples, add spenda and cinnamon and put it in the microwave. Then I just top it with a small amount of granola. The only calories you are really getting that way are from the apple and granola. |

The class is an excellent idea. The reason I got into shooting was because my husband had guns. (ex-military just can't seem to let go |

Thought of something else - The best thing to do is go to your local range and rent a few different guns. See what feels best and works best for you. Even just handling several in the gun store will help. You need to get a gun that feels good to you and that you can work with or you won't have any fun with it. |

I have a Ruger .22 . I love it I seem to be the only one who can shoot it accurately though. My hubby doesn't like it. He likes the bigger stuff anyway. It is a great pistol for plinking. We live near the mountains so we take the guns up there and shoot at whatever we happen to bring along at the time. My husbands favorite target is watermelons and pumpkins with his 300 win. That thing will knock your arm off. I shot it once, said ouch, and gave it back to him. The water jug was destroyed though :) |

I always get the footlong ham and turkey. Even with the cheese it is only a bit over 300 cal for half of it. I don't do mayo. It is cheaper to buy the footlong and save half for later. Just because they sell it cheap doesn't mean you have to eat the whole thing at once. |

The best protein shakes I have tried are the EAS brand ones. I buy a large 6 pound bag of powder at Costco. They have chocolate and vanilla. Each serving is 140 calories and 27 g of protein. |

I don't have any toys from when I was a kid. I do still have my blanket though. It is balled up in a box in my closet. I will be buried with that thing. |

I think the fact that you can find one under the seat of your car several months later and it looks like the day you got it is a damn good reason not to eat them. I used to go to fast food all the time and now I haven't been in months. Just the idea of it makes my stomach turn. |

I think the IRS just needs to go away. I don't see why we can't just have a flat tax rate that everyone pays. Divide it by the number of checks you get in a year and be done with it. They don't owe us and we don't owe them. |

I like the fiber one raisin bran cereal. The other way I get fiber is these muffins that Trader Joes sells. They are blueberry fiber muffins and they have 80 calories. I have one for breakfast with some youghurt or banana. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Does inducing labor cause the contractions to be more painful? | Jul 11 2008 06:22 (UTC) |
22 |
I was induced with baby #1. They used the cervical gel stuff. Sorry, no idea what it is called. Less than 15 min later I was having really hard nasty contractions. I had friends tell me induction didn't even work for them. I think the hospital was even planning on sending me home. They took it out and needless to say I didn't go home. My stubborn son took 30 some hours after that to show up. Baby #2 I had a c-section. I was all hooked up getting prepped and the nurse says "Did you know you are having contractions?" Nope, not a clue. I still had my c-section but the difference was night and day. Baby #2 was 100% easier. I was at the hospital a shorter amount of time and I actually healed faster than I did going natural. I did have 9 + pound babies though. Sorry I don't have any info for you on a total natural birth.

I think the things on this site are pretty accurate. I have a heart rate monitor and last week at the gym after 40 min on the stairmaster, 40 on the elliptical and some weights it said I had burned almost 1200 calories. If you can I would suggest getting a monitor. I love mine and now I just enter the info from it instead of looking it up on here. |

| The Lounge | "Green Bags"? or Ever Green bags for food storage? | Jun 30 2008 15:52 (UTC) |

Why not just buy the amount of fresh produce that you need for a couple of days then go back to the store? Then things are always fresh and you don't have to buy the bags at all. |

The marshmallow stuff is nasty. I would rather just allow for some marshmallows if I really wanted them. 4 jet puffed ones are 100 calories. I haven't tried the other stuff since I had a bad experience with the first. |

I am in Washington north of Seattle. The station down the hill from my house is $4.39. I swear it goes up daily. I always go to Fred Meyer, Costco, or Arco. They are usually 15 to 20 cents cheaper. The last time I filled up I paid $4.09. |

I got carded to buy a scratch lottery ticket when I was 21. I have always been told I look young. A few weeks ago I got carded to buy a drink and my friend didn't. I am 33 now. It sucked back then but it is kinda nice now. |

It has been raining here daily. I am in the great Pacific Northwest. It feels like October. I used to tell people that it really isn't that bad here and no, it doesn't really rain that much. The weather has now made a liar out of me. Glad I am going to Vegas in a couple weeks. I can finally be warm for a few days. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | I'm a Stay At Home Mom...How do I stay sane? | Jun 06 2008 19:59 (UTC) |

Do you have a YMCA nearby? My membership costs more than your old gym but I am also paying for a family one. An individual would be less. At my Y they don't charge for childcare. They do have a two hour limit though. That is where I keep my sanity. I started out taking classes and got to know alot of people. In the mornings it is mostly stay at home moms and elderly people. The other thing that keeps me busy is my kids sports. Yours are still a little young but the 6 yr old could start. I get to meet other parents that way and have time to sit and chat while the kids practice or play games. |
