Thanks... That is exactly how I feel. I workout right after work and then I have no appetite for a good dinner. And don't want to eat late at night. Great suggestion on switching the workout time but 5:00 AM? yuck!

Thanks...I guess a little protein and carb snack may get my appetite back. Just find it strange that I loose that sensation after a heavy workout. |

I've had the same experience since switching from only cardio to the addition of weight training. On the four days that I do weights, I still consume 8 to 10 glasses of water but do not urinate as much as I do on my cardio days alone or on my off day. The scale also shows the increase water retention, usually about 1 to 2 lbs. I relate this to the inflammatory processes that occur within the muscles to assist in healing and muscle growth. |

KC, You are right. My calculations were without the workouts. On work out days they do go up to 1800 or more depending on the intensity and length of the workout.

Fransen... You are so right. I can't give up exercising. It is amazing how my body has more stamina and endurance. Six months ago I couldn't handle 1 mile on the treadmill and now I can do 5 miles in 1 hours while singing to my favorite songs. Being healthy is more important than calorie counting. Thanks for reminding me... Good luck with your workouts. Slowly that weight does start to come off.

| Foods | How many Splenda packets do you consume daily? | Mar 05 2008 15:29 (UTC) |

| Splenda is sucralose, a half bread of glucose. But you are right, the new research does show that even sucralose has potential health problems. If taken in large doses it can cause serious toxic effects on the body. | |||

| I'm a little bewildered. I thought that Splenda had ZERO calories. Granted I only use about 4 packets a day for coffee. I thought that the chemical makeup of Splenda does not allow the body to process it as sugar. Can someone clarify? Thanks. | |||

Robbyc81, I went on a extended family cruise to the Cabo San Lucas in November. When I came home and looked at the professional photos taken while on ship, I realized was overweight and not happy with my physique. That day I began my transformation. I tell you this because I am 5'2'' and at the time I weighed 135 lbs. My life is quite busy as well with a full time job and graduate school in the evenings. Being a nurse, I had a good understanding of health, nutrition and fitness... I finally started practicing what I preach to others and with the help of a personal trainer, things started to take shape. I'm 112 lbs, feel and look ten years younger and continue to reshape my body with cardio as well as weight training. The following suggestions my help you on your journey as well. Re evaluate your workout routine. What type of cardio are you doing and for how long? With weigh training, how many reps and sets are you doing and at what weight? How long do you do weigh training in a session? If your goal is to lose weight, cardio will get you there. But you really need to do at least 40 minutes a day/6 times a week. Best cardio workout for calorie burning is the cross trainer. This activity burns more calories then a treadmill for 1 hour per day. Saves time and burns those calories off. Your food intake also needs to be reevaluated. It's not how much you eat but what you eat that is going to make a difference. Stick to the 50-30-20 model. 50% being carbs, 30% being protein, and 20% being fats. Stay away from simple sugars. Only eat whole grain products, they breakdown slower and do not give you the insulin highs and lows. If most of your weight is around your mid section, you tend to be insulin resistant usually due to eating more refined sugars, cut them out of you diet completely. Eat all natural carbs as much as possible, they are low in calories and provide fiber to your diet. I wish you luck. Hopefully my experience can help you with reaching your goals. Tee
