| The Lounge | my cat's tongue is sticking out.. drooling a bit.. she is not eating at all.. HELP!! | Nov 22 2009 22:42 (UTC) |

I would agree that it is a stroke. Our dalmation had a stroke once in front of me on the floor. Afterward, we took her to the vet. Needed blood work and some other minor tests to prove it was a stroke. We brought her back home afterward. It was rough for a few months. She couldn't stand on her own at all! We literally, had to pick her up and take her outside to pee and then hold her up while she was doing so. Her food we had to mush up and feed her by hand with her licking it out of our hand. People thought we were crazy for not putting her down. But, she was family. If grandma had a stroke we wouldn't kill her to put her out of her troubles. In a few months, she progressed and started walking on her own and eating again. She passed away three years later naturally. I miss her, but I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck to you! I, currently, have two cats now at home. They can be tricky to do what you want, much harder than dogs, unfortuntantly. Please keep us updated to what it was and the treatment given! I'll be thinking about you and your pet! |

We just bought some mini ice cream "candy bar" flavored treats. They have a variety box with milky way, 3 musketeers, twix and snickers (actually taste just like the candy bar-just with ice cream inside). We found them in the regular ice cream section. They are 80 calories a piece and they are so sweet..I can only eat one and feel fine afterwards. That and dove minatures as well in the ice cream section is about the same about calories. Yum =) I enjoy eating one as my late night snack without feeling guilty afterwards. |

Hey- I went hiking yesterday in the Adirondak's up a mountain (kid and older age friendly). It was really rocky, uphill the whole way up- 2 hours up and 1 hour down. I'm 5'1 and 1/2 and 24 years old. I'm 120lbs. I wore my heart rate monitor and counted calories burned the entire time (stopped it when we ate and rested). I burned 1,043 calories in those 3 hours! It's hard work! I would say you are probably right! We hike all the time. It's a "hobby" of ours... we live an hour south of the Adirondak's- so we hike a lot! It's a total body work out! I burn way more calories than doing an exercise video (or 3 combined!) However, I still love those too. Make sure to stay well hydrated and to eat a lot! Yesterday, in order to not go into starvation mode I had to eat a ton of food! A hiker tip: We love to freeze water bottles and take them out the morning of your hike- and hike with your frozen water! They stay cold all day and can use them to cool yourselves off and drink them!

Hi everyone! I'm 5'1 and currently 122 and I'm 24 years old. I'm getting married June 28, 2008 and we are having a destination wedding in Hawaii! I've tried on many, many bathing suits and don't look good in any of them. So, I'm trying to tone back up. I started this journey back in October of 2007 when I was 153 pounds. I lost all of it to where I was 116 by last May. However, over the course of this year I gained some of it back and went back up to 127. So, I'm doing this for real and keeping it real. I'm watching what I eat and log everything in calorie count, I bought a heart rate monitor to watch my target heart rate zone and true calorie burn. I've been faithfully working out a lot!! I think too much. This weekend alone my fiance and I hiked 5 miles and then I did cardio and strength training after we got back. I've stayed the same 123 for 3 weeks. Today is the first day that I lost a pound! Hopefully, I'm back on track. However, my muscles are really growing. I have a set of biceps now to knock out anyone =P
Good luck everyone, I wish you well!

I love the classic salad with added grilled chicken with the balsamic dressing... that's all I need... it's filling and I just take a bite of bread at the end of the meal! Mmmmm... I always ask for Panera gift cards for presents! I had a $50.00 gift card there and I went a lot!!! And it was so worth it! I always keep the nutritional information in my purse to my favorite eating places (subway, Panera)... |

| Foods | Question about pizza | Jan 26 2007 01:12 (UTC) |
|
| Today we went to pizza hut. My fiance wanted pepperoni and stuffed
crust. I was not eating that! It's 390 calories for one slice of
that large pizza! I ordered my own medium thin and delicious pizza that they make now. They make it thin crust with 1/2 the cheese and 2 times the sauce. And you have the healthy ingredients to choose from. Each slice of that pizza is 150 calories! I felt good and it was really really good!!! I would for sure get it again! Now, it's left over in my fridge for dinner and lunch for the next couple of days! |

| Weight Loss | Tips on Portions? | Jan 08 2007 00:23 (UTC) |

| Honestly, the best way is to weigh it or measure it with measuring
cups. I used to live with my parents years ago- and I would
measure out serving sizes that boxes say to get my correct portion. Or
look it up on calorie count and see how much you should eat, and
measure that amount out. Once you start measuring, your eye gets
better at eyeing how much is really a serving. Remember meat
should be the size of a deck of cards or the size of your palm.
Good Luck! Kelly |

| I am too! Shell- I looked at your site... it's beautiful! And you have
wonderful looking children! I've been engaged for almost a year now
(Jan. 14, 2006). However, we're not getting married until summer
of 2008. We had to move to New York for my Music Therapy
internship... so it was a huge expense. Plus, I don't have any
parents to help with the cost... so we're on our own (mostly). I
started losing weight Oct. 6th, 2006... I started at 153 lbs. in a size
12! Currently, I'm 134 and in a size 8! I look good, I feel good! And
I'm trying to lose about 18 more pounds to be perfect! I'm trying to
look good by this summer... I want a bikini more than anything. I tried
one on the other day (it looked terrible! I had a huge fat roll hanging
over and my thunder thighs didn't look that good (plus I'm very short-
5'1 feet and have huge size D boobs...) So I don't fit into any
top unless it's an extra large. Sometimes I wish I had fake boobs
to hold them up... natural just sag down so much =P I wish you both
luck in your weight loss success. One of my friends is getting
married on your same day, Shell. They hope it will be lucky too! Best wishes- Kelly |

However, two weeks before I &n bsp; started w/o CC and I was 153lbs. 3. (What do you weigh now?) 136.5 lbs. 4. (What's your goal?) 116lbs. 5. (What's been the hardest thing about losing?) Eating in moderation... when I eat junk food, I LOVE HUGE portions of it! 6. (What has been the easiest thing about losing?) Staying within my calorie limit and being able to write it all down in Calorie counter! I love to see results! 7. (What is the best thing about losing?) Having to buy new clothes because the ones I started in fall off of me just standing still now! I'm down 4 pant sizes and a shirt size! It is also nice when people you care about call you "hot" and "sexy" now! |

| Tonight for dinner we had a very low calorie meal of a homemade soup I
made and a homemade salad. The soup was an Italian Ham and Bean
soup for 180 cals per cup of wonderful fresh veggies. And the salad was
kale Ricotta Salant salad with fresh homemade olive oil dressing with
garlic bread. It was filling and wonderful!!!Both recipes were in
Gourmet magazine this month. Mmm.. Enjoy! |

| TOTALLY SUGAR FREE JELLO!!! You can buy them in the snack pack for 5 cals per cup or buy a whole box and you make at home... and it's 10 cals for a 1/2 of a cup. I throw some light whipped topping on it and sometimes I'll make my own and put fresh fruit in it! It's so yummy... I feel it's almost a sin to eat it =P But it's very low in calories! | |||
| Recipes | Ingredient of the day - Tomatoes! How do you like yours? | Dec 16 2006 00:38 (UTC) |

| OOOh I just made homemade pasta sauce with my tomatoes tonight! (I also
made homemade cheesy loaf bread with fresh parsley and rosemary... no
rolling any dough... it was so easy and so yummy =) ) The sauce had canned crushed tomatoes with the juice, garlic powder, celery salt, salt, pepper, oregano, pizza seasoning, chili flakes, parlsey, basil, minced garlic, onions, olive oil and a little bit of sugar. I also made homemade fudge... It was Rachel Ray's 5 minute fudge on Oprah today... it was so simple! -12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips -1 cup butterscotch chips - 1 tsp. of vanilla - 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk (toss and stir in a pot) when melted (about 4-5 minutes) you can add walnuts to it.. I did half walnuts and 1/2 plain... Grease with butter a round pan. And wrap the milk can in plastic wrap and place in the middle. Pour the fudge around the can (creates a wreath). put in fridge for about a 1/2 hour. Really fast and really good =) Enjoy! |

| I tried making Pumpkin Pancakes this morning! THEY WERE YUMMY! And the recipe is on calorie count, under breakfast, page 2 I think... I just substituted Evaporated milk for milk and added like a 1/2 tbs. of brown sugar and a dash more of the spices. They were so fluffy and yummy. I just used a dab of maple syrup b/c they were so full of flavor! I give it a 5 star rating! I'm making these again!!! | |||

| I like to do Buns of Steel, and all sorts of crunches for the abs, and lunges for the thighs, and pilates push ups for the arms. Using yourself as the weight is always better for you than using weights. However, if you feel it gets to easy, always add some weight with it. | |||

| Well, I drank 64 oz. of water today. I'm guessing I just stopped eating heavy foods and I feel sick afterwards now. I mean I really don't eat red meat. Um a hamburger here and there... but that's it. That's ashame... I love steak. And it was only 3 oz of it!!! WAAHH... =P | |||
| Weight Loss | Scales. | Dec 09 2006 19:25 (UTC) |

| funny you should say that... mine does that a lot. It's a digital
one... and lately I'll step on it and it'll say 139... then I'll do
it like 2 seconds later and it'll say 138.... and then the next
time it says 133 and then 133 again... then 138... then 139 the next 3
times... haha... I get upset that it's not at least the same number 3
times in a row . At different parts of the day, I don't care that the
scale jumps... our bodies weigh differently all the time based on how
much food you took in or water.. or how much you have to pee...
hehe. My advice.. weigh yourself until you get a constant number 3 times in a row like I do. My scale is touchy and if you step on it weird, it takes a different number. If it makes me too mad, I'll just go and buy another scale this weekend! |

| Is it that time of the month? It is for me this week. I'll start on Thursday, and as of yesterday I gained 2 pounds. I work extra hard on this week and up the water and by this coming Sat. I should be back down and maybe down a little more than the 2 pounds. It's just water weight that we all gain from the time of the month. If you look around on the posts on here it gets talked about a lot. It's common. So, could that be it? | |||
