Beans, beans, and beans. They have both protein AND fiber. Plus, they are ridiculously cheap. They're also surprisingly easy to make. Just soak them overnight and put them on low the next morning. They'll be ready in time for dinner! |

Hey, everyone. I was a little busy yesterday and didn't have time to post my list on here. :( BUT, on the other hand, I did reflect on all of the good things about that day. That's something I never used to do.
Heather! haha, I totally understand. This is when we'll have to be appreciating our healthy organs! :)
Mr. Neville - Thank you so much for your comment! It's really nice to have your support and you had some really great points and examples. I MORE than agree with the fact that people are bombarded with staying "humble", so much so, that they think it'd be out of character to recognize the good they do. Honestly, I've realized that it's just not enough to praise yourself quietly. I've bashed myself for so long (I, too, was afraid of coming across as arrogant or conceited), so now my friends and family are surprised when I'm verbally complimenting myself. I'm also noticing, just since I've been writing these lists, that I have much more mercy and empathy for others. I know now that it's impossible to love others if you don't have true love for yourself, as cliche as it sounds. Again, thank you so much for your response, and I will definitely start to promote this "self love" concept more. :) |

I'd put that as light walking. Maybe strolling? Do you have to bus tables as well? |

Good for you, sugar_and_spice. :) It's gotten so much easier to make out these lists, just after three days of doing it! haha |

Yayayay!! :) Good for you! It sounds like it was a very nice day for you. It's the same for me, it seems like suddenly, something just clicks, and I realize that I actually HAVE improved. It's such a great feeling, and I'm so glad you're feeling it. =D
You're awesome and I think you look fabulous. And about the arms being even too muscular, that's ridiculously easy to fix. haha, you know how. |

Aw, this makes me so happy! It's great to see other girls wanting get their minds as healthy as their bodies. :)
haha, I love how this thread is now about blonde hair. icutoffmyhair- I tried going for a platinum, but did the coloring myself, so it didn't quite turn out how I wanted. I bet yours looks awesome! Yeah, I was kind of disappointed that I cut my hair off afterwards, but I'm so impatient with growing out my hair!
heatherx33- I think your hair looks super cute. :) I honestly never thought it would be so challenging to write out these lists, but I'm so glad I'm doing this and I'm so glad you're doing it with me! |

deflepfan16- I'm the same way. I always tell myself that I'll start thinking better of myself, but it never happens. SO, I figured this was a good start. :) Aw, and thank you! I was a blonde baby, but then again, I grew up in California. I was always outside, so I'm sure the sun had a helping hand in the matter. Although, I have to burst everyone's bubble and say that it's not going to be blonde anymore. You see, I have to get a part time job, and I'm afraid my hair will be too "out there" for a conservative boss. haha. You should go blonde! I think it'd look really cute on you. |

icutoffmyhair- Haha, I know. I thought I'd run out of things too! But that's the point. It's kind of like with a guy you reeeeeally like. You could go on and on about all the things you like about him. So hey, you're with yourself all the time, might as well be a happy time!
heatherx33- Exactly. If I'm not loving myself properly, it affects my relationships in a terrible way. I'm excited for you! :)
direwolf689- It's okay, we can all hold you accountable. haha |

| Young Calorie Counters | My boyfriend cheated on me with more than one girl. | Aug 30 2008 03:32 (UTC) |
6 |
First of all, I am so so sorry. :( It's so sad when you really put your trust and heart into someone, and they do that to you. I feel I can kind of identify with what you're going through, although, my boyfriend hasn't actually slept with another girl (that I know of). My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 19 months now. He was always the more "open minded" one, but I didn't think much of it. I was really happy with him and leaving him would never cross my mind, until about six months ago. He told me that something had really been bothering him, so I told him to tell me about it. Because, you know, I thought we should had a pretty open and loyal relationship with each other. So basically, what he told me was that a polygamous relationship would be VERY important to him in the future. He said something about how when he would be older, he might "regret" not screwing a bunch of girls, basically. I was PRETTY upset. He blamed me for forbidding him to do this. But as I saw it, he was just using me to fall back on. I was loyal to him and he KNEW that. I broke up with him and we were apart for about a month. Then, we started talking again. I felt so terrible because he'd start balling his eyes out and tell me that he'd never have sex with another girl and that I was the one for him. You know, those manipulative and desperate type of words. So long story short, now I'm with him again, and he still wants to sleep with other girls (go figure.), while maintaining a relationship with me. It makes me feel terrible about my body. I was never the jealous type and I let my boyfriends have as much of freedom as they needed, because I trusted them. But now I feel extremely jealous if he even mentions talking to another girl. It's terrible. I know that this relationship is harmful, but it's SO hard to break off from him since we've been together for almost two years. It really makes me sad, and I'm so tired of being blamed for not being okay with him not being loyal to me. :(
Anyway, my point of the story is... DON'T GO BACK TO HIM. It will only get you in deeper, and to be even thinking of a fourteen year old sexually is disgusting.

If anyone would like an example of the "Ten Lists", you can go to my journals, and there's a REAL LIFE example right there! I'm kind of disappointed more people haven't responded to this post yet. It seems like it's really important, and I know for a fact that most of the girls who frequent here have a problem with self esteem.
Anyone is welcome to join in. :) |

| Fitness | Sore, from Running!? | Aug 29 2008 20:51 (UTC) |

Definitely normal.
When I first started running, my lower shins were sore the next day, just because they weren't used to being used like that. I mean, honestly, when am I actually running for more than 30 seconds in everyday situations? Not very often, if ever. The soreness will go away as your body adapts. |

First of all, I think it's so neat how you have support from your dad, and how he's looking out for you. :) Honestly, I'd take it five pounds at a time. You really have to take your bone structure into account. First just start off in the high healthy bmi for your height, then see if you feel good at that weight, and take it from there. Good luck. You'll do great! :) |

| The Lounge | Love this site... but I feel like the only liberal. True? | Aug 29 2008 20:22 (UTC) |

I would think the contrary. Why does it matter anyway? This isn't a political forum, is it? If someone is liberal and another is conservative, what does it really matter in the end? True though, it's annoying if a forum is leaning more towards a certain party. Especially a calorie count forum. haha |

I run three days a week with my friends and lift weights three days a week. I LOVE running with my friends. I wouldn't be as fit as I am right now if I didn't go running with them. They push me in a subtle yet fun way. I also go to a Latin dance class two times a week and just try out random exercise machines at my gym. :) |

Ooh yay! I'm excited. I think this is just as important as a weight loss/get fit challenge, if not more. We could post our lists on here, or we could do it in private. Whichever you prefer.
Aw thanks! I've never been blonde until now and I think it's great. :) I bet you'd like great as a blonde! |

1. If you could create a new cereal flavor what would it be? (flavor, grain, fruit etc?)- Mango lassi flavored, high fiber cereal. 2. If the ice cream companies were to add a fourth flavor to the Neapolitan trio, what should it be?- Coconut and sweet rice. 3. Design a new burger/sandwich for fast food restaurant (can be veggie based if you dont eat meat)- Sauteed veggie sandwich, melted beaufort cheese, with a grilled onion, whole wheat bun. 4. Whether you drink soda or not , create a new flavor to introduct (ie: Orange Coke)- Again, mango lassi. (Though, I don't drink soda.) 5. If Ketchup no longer existed, what other fruit or veg could you puree for a condiment?- Raspberries. 6. What fruit would make an awesome jelly?- Kiwi 7. Create a non-traditional pizza (ie: Greek pizza with feta, olives and spinach)- This is actually something I made tonight: Caramelized onions topped with fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and some basil from the garden. 8. Favorite vegetable that would be great made into chips, add a flavor if you like (ie: BBQ Carrot chips)- Garlic zucchini. 9. | Fitness | runners high? | Aug 24 2008 04:53 (UTC) |

I'm not quite sure of what week on C25k I'm on, but I most assuredly did some weeks twice. I'm currently running 25 minutes with ease. I run with my friends, which helps SO much. I honestly don't think I would have made it to this point, if I hadn't been running with them. Now though, I actually ENJOY running. It's relaxing for me, not a bother or frustrating. I know that if they wouldn't be able to run with me anymore, I would definitely keep doing it on my own. Yes, I like it THAT much. I have to say that up until I was running 20 minutes straight, it was pretty tough for me though. I really didn't like the intervals much, because I felt it messed up my rhythm; I get in this running trance, and it's hard to get back into. The first weeks of the program were the hardest for me, definitely. As for the "Runner's High", I definitely feel it. I think it's a combination of an actual chemical reaction, and a psychological thing... you just feel so good about yourself! Even half way into this program, you are definitely in better shape than the average person. The real key to this is diligence. Going those days you don't want to. Even if it's not much, you should praise yourself for going, when you know a couple of weeks ago, you wouldn't have gone at all.
P.S.- I would invest in a heart rate monitor if I were you. It helps me SO much. I swear it makes the time go by so much faster, trying to stay within a certain range. The one I got was only $30 dollars. I think that's a pretty good price, considering it doubles as a stop watch, clock, and a bunch of other functions I don't know how to use. :) |

I've been doing Power 90 on and off for about three years (Power 90 is also directed by Tony Horton, the creator of the 10 minute trainer program) . This is, by far, my favorite video exercise regime I've tried. Currently, I run three miles three days a week and lift weights with Power 90 three days a week. I haven't tried the 10 minute program, but I'm sure it's great. Tony reeeeally gets on my nerves sometimes, but the workouts are very well formed and smart. Good luck and keep with it! :) |
