| Foods | anyone tried the miracle noodles (calorie free)? | Mar 09 2009 13:56 (UTC) |

I have tried the House Foods America version of these noodles which I ordered online. I have used both the linguine shaped and traditional spaghetti shaped noodle. I did try to go into one of the local markets but none of the international markets or asian markets near me had any idea what I was talking about. Although the consistency takes some getting used to it is nice to have 8 oz of "pasta" for 40 calories. With the right sauce and after you get used to the consistency I think they are a great pasta substitute and very filling. I had no problem with bloating but I only use them once or twice per week max.

Ditto to what octo-luv said - I have been trying to switch up my strength training routine every 4 -6 weeks and as soon as I change my workout my thighs seem bigger for a few days. |

| Weight Loss | Does your hourglass figure make your weight seem illogical? | Jan 25 2009 14:58 (UTC) |

I have the same problem, I wear a 2-4 pants, 32DDD and have a small waist. According to the BMI calculator I am 25% fat. I found a website which estimates your body fat percentage based on your weight and waist size rather than your weight and height. According to Dr. Oz the waist measurement is a more helpful one when trying to figure your body fat percentage - the fat around your waist is the most unhealthy.

Interesting . . . I find it a bit more remarkable that Palin was not well versed in John McCain's policies when she was interviewed by Katie Couric. Although we should all be expected to know the issues and policies when we are voting, I am not surprised at this. Let's have these same questions asked of John McCain supporters in the heart of a very red state and I think you would have similar results. I would like to see someone post a link to something like that. |

| Weight Loss | rant on PEARS.... from an apple | Aug 04 2008 17:56 (UTC) |

I am an hourglass so definitely can't complain - I have to say though that a lot of fashion trends which have undefined waistlines, all these look better on apple shapes. For example the baby doll dresses, if you have thin arms and legs this dress shape looks good on you because you are showing the thinner parts of your body.
People with my body type tend to look heavier in anything that doesn't have a defined waist. So in the spirit of working with what you have I will throw a belt over these outfits - - - problem solved.

I swear by this - although I am not logging as diligently now that I am in maintenance I know that keeping a food diary was a key tool in my losing weight. |

| Maintaining | How do you count your calories? | Jul 08 2008 14:28 (UTC) |

I have only been maintaining for a few months so I am still figuring it all out. I still log and count for the most part but I don't panic if say I am on vacation and can't log. I am getting more comfortable with estimating and planning my food for the day. After 14 months of counting, logging, measuring and weighing I can pretty much eyeball the right portion size. Sometimes for high calorie meats I will estimate the portion and then weigh just to check myself. So far so good. |

| Weight Loss | What do you guys eat after workouts? | Jun 15 2008 03:23 (UTC) |

I try to take one of those fiber one cereal bars and an apple. I eat this as soon as I finish my workout - on the way home from the gym. This helps me to curb my appetite some before sitting down to a meal.

| Maintaining | Remember Ladies, we fluctuate about 5 lbs. each month | May 13 2008 15:12 (UTC) |

Hear . . . Hear - Last week I was feeling so fat and felt I looked fat in everything I put on. Although it was that time, I didn't think that could make your thighs look fat but guess what - it can. Seems like the 5 pounds I gain each month is in my stomach and thighs which make me feel huge. Then like magic a few days afterwards the extra fluff is gone. Whew |

| Weight Loss | What's your weight loss success story to date? | May 03 2008 21:28 (UTC) |

Really great idea
Start Date: 2/1/07 Start Weight: 198 Goal Weight: 125 (reached 12/15/07) started maintenance Current Weight: 120 # weeks healthy lifestyle: 14 months # of lbs lost since start: 78 Tip - make changes to diet and exercise that you can live with. I am basicially eating the same diet plan, just added back in calories when I reached goal weight. Biggest change for me was adding in and eating breakfast each morning to set myself up to eat healthy for the day. I learned that in eating right I can get a lot of food out of the daily calorie allotment. Also I have my scheduled exercise at the gym but anything else I can squeeze in, walks at lunch, running errands, etc I add in as little bonuses for myself. Anything you can do like this adds up. One other thing I did was buy down the scale for the next season. I would buy the next size down for spring, summer or fall whatever the next season was. I put this item in the front of my closet to remind myself to stay on track so I could get into it by the time that season came around.

What worked for me to break a plateau was a major cheat day. I allowed myself to have fried chicken, full fat ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. After that cheat day I lost 3 pounds. I went right back on my diet after that day and once a month I would have a cheat day. After I discovered this I started a general zig zag using this tool: http://www.naturalphysiques.com/tools.php?ite mid=64 Weight loss had been consistent. I also zig zag during maintenance just to keep my body guessing. |

Always being cold Saggy skin upper thighs Saggy lower tummy Sometimes I am startled when I pass a mirror or window and see my reflection - I don't recognize myself this way yet. Having people say things like "you are getting too skinny" or "don't disappear now" or just constantly commenting in general about my weight loss. First couple times is fine after that - - not sure I like it. After being overweight for 10 years and finally losing 90 pounds even with all the above I would NEVER go back. I will take all these things many times over before I do that. |
