Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING momma's!
Well....tomorrow won't be my meatless day :) Here is what I am making Turkey Breast (bone in) Green bean casserole Mashed potatoes/gravy Sweet potatoes pineapple custard rolls Sarah Lee pie's (pumpkin & pecan pie) I will eat a little of it all, but more of the sweet potatoes, turkey, and green beans...then a sliver of pie. I am sending the leftovers home with the in-laws :) (except the turkey...I will use it for pita's later) |

Raw almonds are great for fighting that feeling of going out of control on some Wendy's. Also, having pita bread or a healthy wrap loaded with veggies and lean meat (chicken, tuna) is very filling. Don't let yourself get to that point of "Real Hungry"...it leads up to making bad choices. Feed your body throughout the day on some healthy filling snacks. (like a handfull of nuts, a couple hard-boiled eggs, a peice of fruit, peanut butter) Good luck....and keep researching the eating more fiber thing...there really is something to it! |

Okay ladies....I have a question for everyone.... How has your weight loss affected your family?
For me, I think we are all eating healthier. I saw that when I visited my sister and though she is thin...she has always had many issues with her weight and doesn't eat very healthy. She gives her kids things that are not good for them because she doesn't want them to feel deprived...but they are eating things that are filled with chemicals and have no nutritional value. I am gratefull with how much I have learned about being healthy, not just weighing less. How about you all?

I am still losing VERY SLOWLY...I was away from home visiting family for 2 weeks and came back with 3 pounds x-tra as a souvenier...but I am getting back on track now. I guess my thoughts are even if it takes me another year to get to my ideal weight....it is ok...because I will have to do pretty much the same to keep it off. Good for you for wearing the bikini! You really look like you're at a healthy weight already (from your gallery pics) I think it is harder to lose weight when you're not too heavy to beging with. Keep warm! |

Please do! You're just going through the normal ups and downs.....it is a journey, not a destination :) I find when I am trying to lose weight for an occasion, I end up having a harder time with it....too much pressure. It is better to just be doing it for yourself and your health.....SOD THE BIKINI! |

I did weight watchers too....and found it worked, but hated spending the money when I was doing all the work Niccole....I am glad to hear you have been doing your hair and it looks great! This is the first time in years I have had my hair anything close to "long" and I guess I am just afraid of doing something that would make me have to cut it short....but you put my mind at ease.....I am going to actually do it! Thatnks for the laugh too....big bird yellow hair....LOL, sounds like my "oscar the grouch green" hair! I guess I am doing Thanksgiving at our house this year...but just my MIL, FIL, and us....so not too big. I will figure out what I am making, and post it. |

Hey Niccole...thanks for the links! I did the Loreal "test"...found a color to do, went to the store, then chickened out...LOL! I am nervous to do something I don't like then have to do something else, and end up with fried,dry hair. I did that when I was young with "sun-in", then a "ash brown", and my hair was green....then I stripped it and did another color...what a MESS!! I know the boxes say that they are non damaging..but I don't know if I believe it! Do you use color yourself ? As far as maintaining goes....I have done it when I couldn't resally concentrate on losing, and you basically just eat what your total burn is. Since we can't know EXACTLY what that is, it is a bit of trial to see what you can eat without gaining or losing....but I bet your only problem will be feeling like you are eating a-lot after you're used to being carefull....but it will be nice too! I think it will be a peice of cake (no pun intended) because you are very good with self control. Just stay with us when you get to maintain...because I would be really sad if you left!!! PLus, you are a great example and have great suggestions! Has anyone just made a turkey "breast only" for Thanksgiving? I don't know if we are doing anything with a bunch of people and I was thinking of just doing a breast...but don't want a dry meat. Let me know if anyone knows about that! |

Niccole....I am sorry your family has been sick.....that is miserable to go through, and that "brain fog" really gets you feeling off too. I can't believe you are almost at your healthy weight range......that is amazing! What do you have planned for maintaining? (Cause I know you have one all planned out..LOL I have to adjust my healthy goal range because my grandpa has a height chart and measured me and I am not as tall as I thought...I always thought I was 5'6", but I am 5'5"! My granparents bathroom lighting also showed me I have lots of grey hairs...so I felt short, fat and old on my trip.....Eeeeek!!! Anyone have a suggestion on covering grey hair without damage? (besides a hat...lol)

Wow Marly :) That is awsome that you have stuck with it through the ups and downs in life.....you are strong! Almost at a 50 pound loss....that is truely amazing!!! What is your january goal? I am getting back into my normal life after the 2 week craziness. I am proud of myself because me and my sister went for walks every week day....and today I got back on the treadmill....and counted calories. I am disappointed with my "need" for this site to do the right thing though....when I don't record what I eat, I ALWAYS over-do it....I don't know what gets into me. I just gave up while I was there....partly because I knew I could get back on track when I got home, and partly because I was in another place without "my" foods and my routine....then having no calorie count...SHEESH! I tried writing down what I was eating, but then just said "forget it" and gave myself a free pass for the weeks! I missed you all though, and hope we can pick this thread up and keep it alive! |

Hellooooo mommas.....yooooo-hoooooooo....everyone come out and play with me!! I just got back last night from Nevada. It was a VERY LONG trip and my computer didn't work there,(Sorry everyone for not being a good thread person) so I fell hard off the wagon...plus my grandma cooked so many great meals....and my skinny sister is a major food pusher. She would buy cookies and tell me how they are the best cookies EVER and I would eat a few and notice she was eating NONE! I love her anyways, but she is definitely used to being the "pretty, skinny one". I am SOOOO ready to get back on track..... Let's get this going again! Everyone post their weight.....I will update them this thursday. I gained 3 pounds while I was gone.....I was scared I would be up like 10 pounds though, so I am not too upset! |

Nope :) Not bad at all! WOW.....80 pounds! Congratulations on such a big milestone! Sometimes you just have to enjoy things you used to, and it seems to remind you that you're not missing all that much. I gave in to a few little candies today....as I am packing for our trip. I sure am glad halloween is only once a year though! |

We decieded to take Megan to the mall trick or treating tonight...it is supposed to be rainy here all day. Today my weight was Halloween worthy....166.6! I had to laugh, but it is the lowest I have ever been...so happy dancing here :) |

My weight today is 167.6.....looking forward to 165 now. Depending on how much I "cheat" while I am in Nevada....I might reach it mid november :) Niccole, I have seen those kits and made them one year....they are very cool! I just got a sewing machine and I have been making aprons for my family in Nevada...I made 6 so far! They are easy and fun to make....though my first one looks pretty rough in spots..LOL! I am learning as I go :) I am upset about the flu shot because no one has one for my 3 year old...and I just hope she doesn't get sick on our trip! |

Somehow, I have been doing good with the candy in the house too. I havn't been craving that kind of thing much anymore. I had a few m&m's that I gave to Megan....and a couple tiny chick-o-stick peices. It is unusually warm here today...and will be through halloween. I couldn't really plan on what Meg would wear untill I knew the weather! SHe is going as a princess riding a dragon. I will put her in her leotard, and then she has a princess dress, and I got her a pointy princess hat and cape. The dragon is one that you step into and it looks like you are riding it. I think it will be cute...but probably not something we will be walking around too long with. This is her first year trick-or-treating....and I am not sure how long to stay out and when to come back and pass out candy. We will figure it out I suppose :) |

Hmmm...I don't know anything about them making you gain weight...but I had a hard time with them making me quesy...so I took the children's chewable kind. I don't know if that would hep, but it is good to know that is an option :) I think the most important thing right now is (as you mentioned) getting folic acid....so if you just drink some OJ every day, in a few months, you should be good :) |

That stinks that you had to get more shots than you anticipated! My hubby and I got regular flu shots...but the pediatrician still doesn't have them for my daughter....sigh....We are going on the trip monday and she is the one I really want protected. I am trying another place today for her. That is AWSOME when people notice how hard you have worked! I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a year and her mouth dropped when she saw me and she said I looked so fashionable and pretty. I didn't dress very well when I was heavier...just trying to wear stuff that didn't show rolls, ya know! I have also gotten "hit on" at the grocery store lately...but it cracks me up because the guys are all older country "hicks"......they are what my husband would look like if he lost his job, grew a beard, and didn't have me taking care of him! I just have to shake my head and laugh. One guy asked me if I would come and cook up the sausage and gravy tortillas he was getting...and I thought...My husband would be soooo ticked because I would never make him something so unhealthy...lol! Really...you can weigh in whenever you would like.....I just hoped going to every other week would help get more moms here to weigh in. I will do updates on sundays for whoever weighs in :) I weigh myself a few times a week. Hope everyone is good and not getting too tempted by the halloween candy!

Keys....it is good to 'see" you :) I am sorry you got the swine flu! Did you have to go to the hostpital? How bad was it? I am worried about getting it...and wonder how to know if it is the swine flu. It sounds like you will be super busy with 4 kids to take care of! Just the fact that you are getting one at 5 am sounds incredibley rough. I certainly feel for you! Niccole...thanlks for all the tips. It is going to be a long plane ride...but thankfully it is a direct flight...so once we board we can settle in and you gave me great ideas to distract her for several hours. I am hoping she takes a nap because we have an early flight and will be getting up a few hours before we do normally. I am glad to know I can bring juice boxes too...I wasn't sure about that.

Hey momma's... I am having a busy week, hubby came back from Texas...he helped his friend move here, and now we have his friend here with us till he closes on his house in 3 weeks. I am leaving next monday to go visit my family in Nevada...so I am getting excited and nervous about flying there with my 3 year old. (Good time to go though....hubby will be busy moving his friend and his parents are moving while I am gone too...I get out of the work!) "Diet" wise, it will be tough when I am there because I love to cook and bake with my sister and grandma. I am going to try to get outside and walk a-lot, and limit how many of the goodies I eat. Hope you are all doing good, and staying warm :) |

My biggest "tip" was to realise that getting to the weight I want is not going to be quick...and there is no rush, because I am going to have to keep doing what I am doing to keep it off....forever :) |

Thanks Niccloe...I will be making those soon! That burger place sounds so good! I have never had Bison before, but I think I have heard it is very lean (is that right?) I don't really like mayo...but I love chipolta mayo...mmmm! It is funny...here in NC the burgers come "all the way" whick means chilli, mustard, slaw, and onion. It is pretty good actually! They do that on the hot dogs too...but nothing really makes hot dogs good to me :)

Hi Ashlee,
I started out where you are! And when I started working out and eating less...I thought "I just wish I KNEW this really will work"...well, 9 months later, I can tell you ...It works! I have had so many times where I feel like I am doing everything "right" and I gain weight! Then I have had months where I stay the same weight.....it has been a roller coaster ride! Just keep at it....don't let the scale get to you, eventually it always catches up! I am at 168.8 now..and continuing to slowly loose. We have a Mom's thread in the "Games and Challenges" area....it would be great to have you there and you can get x-tra help and support from mom's who have (and are) there :) By the way...I work out on a treadmill about 30-40 minutes 4-5 days a week, and eat between 1700-2100 calories a day. I am 5'6"....(so not over the top) Keep up the great work! It is worth it to feel good and get healthy! |
