I have one word for this: *Facepalm*

Jessica, I suggest you take your current diet to your family doctor and see what they have to say about it... since you don't think the people elected as moderators are giving good advice.

eugrrrlll, I don't think you were thin bashing. Instead you're helping to reveal the hidden part of the "glamor" that we see every day in the media. Although so many people today (myself included!) do need to lose weight to be healthy,  a healthy weight is just that, and not the emaciation required of models. Women trapped into starving themselves, whether directly because of the fashion industry's demands, or indirectly, need to hear the message that this is not ok. (see http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16598988/)

And those of us in need of weight loss need that same reminder too, not to get carried away, but to stop losing when we've hit a healthy weight.

 This says it all.

Whenever I marinate I count the total calories of the sauce I use - I figure it's better to over-estimate than under!

That being said, that sounds like a great marinade.  Can you send me the recipe?

I was no where near my period, I hadn't eaten any abnormal foods than usual and I've been drinking a decent amount of water (4 24oz bottles a day) My calorie intake is 1, 500-600 and I burn on average maybe 400 cals depending on the day

Are you really saying you eat only 500 - 600 calories a day, and burn 400?  If so, your body is trying to stay alive on only 100 -  200 net calories.  This may explain the fluid retention, because under eating and malnutrition cause swelling, especially distended abdomen.  It may or may not be the diet pills, which aren't a good idea anyway.  But perhaps you typed the numbers wrong.

Under nourishment is very damaging to the body over time.  Please consider consulting a nutritionist, or at least do some reading about proper nutrition.  We have a wonderful feature under the Advice tab.  Click on Advice and look for Ask Mary.

Please take care of yourself.

I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be 1500-1600

I'm the same way - usually because someone wants to go out to lunch or I run out of grocery money, or something akin to that.

Just eat as best you can on those weeks that you're thrown off.  Maybe a buddy online who you can chat with that will hold you accountable for what you eat?

The motivational forums are good for this type of stuff too.

Good luck!

My very-well-endowed boobs are going first, and I don't like it - not for the fact that they're shrinking, but the lack of, how we should say "filler", is missing, so they're starting to sag a lot Cry

next to go is my waist (but not my tummy) and then my face.

I'm so overly jealous of those who lose/lost the tummy first.  I want that.  LOL

Here's an idea - freeze it!  It's harder to eat when it's frozen, so it lasts longer and you eat it slower :)

3:  "The Comparison"

After having adopted a primarily vegetarian diet of mostly raw foods (usually not uncooked fish, but mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts, directly-from-the-plant foods), I compare my plate to yours.

My plate is like a rainbow of wonderful nutrition and flavors -- I have cool,  dark greens and purples; sweet, crisp oranges; tasty, juicy reds and blues; crunchy, salty browns and tans; and sour and sweet yellows.  And that's just my salad!  I have delicious rice , occasionally a small piece of wild fish full of Omega 3s.  For dessert, I might have a piece of fruit or occasionally a bar of dark chocolate.  My meals leave me refreshed and energized, satisfied and healthy.  I feel wonderful for three hours, until I can have a snack of pure almond butter (ingredients: almonds) and an apple, which tides me over until my next WONDERFUL meal.

Your plate is a grey-brown, gooey mess that bleeds out little rivulets of greasy red and yellow.  You cut translucent, grey fats off your meat and pile them next to the fake mashed potatoes deprived of any nutritious value with a dun-colored pool of animal fat and cornstarch.  Next to that, you have a mass of stale, crusty white 'bread' that is only edible when you smear slabs of fake, off-yellow processed fat.  Your only nutrition comes from sad little green beans, limp and bruised, swimming in butter that mingles with the run-off from your meat product.  As you eat your meat, you dip it into a brown mix of spices to give it the least bit of flavor, and you wash it down with a florescent green, acidic, bubbling liquid that restarts the process of dissolving your teeth with every sip -- diet or not.  Then you go get a piece of flavorless, brown flour with a grey-white mixture of overprocessed sugar and fat, eggs, or water on top, topped off with pieces of artificially colored processed sugar.

You leave your meal feeling lethargic and bloated, unfulfilled and greasy.  In an hour, you're hungry again and without thinking stuff processed sugars and saturated or artificial fats into your face.

I have to admit, this part made me want to eat a salad. Innocent

You have a point - some people diet for looks because that's the way the world sees them.

Perhaps you need to look at it this way - no matter how you look on the outside, you are healthier on the inside, and thats what counts.

Congratulations on the magnificent weight loss~

Original Post by ingy12:

Good morning ladies. So it's been a few days since I've posted. My family is going through some tough times so I've been busy trying to be there for my parents. I'm also going through a bad roommate situation, so hopefully that will be resolved by the end of the month. I'd explain in more detail, but I am tired of being upset about it and I tend to cry every time I go into it. Send good vibes my way if you can. I would really appreciate them.

So I took a CC quiz that tells you what kind of eater you are, and I'm a Functional Eater. Which basically means that I eat only when it's convinient or fits into my schedule. The result of my drastic weight gain in the last 4 years has been because I don't exercise and don't eat very well. This past week I really had to work to NOT fall into my old "functional eater" ways. Most of the week I did ok having all three meals and snacks. But man was it hard. I really had to force myself to fix meals and eat. However over the weekend I fell off the wagon so to speak. Saturday morning I got up and I procrastinated eating. I couldn't decide what I wanted to have so I decided not to have anything. But by 11am I was starving, since for the last month I have been eating 3 meals and having snacks. Instead of going to eat something I spent an hour debating with myself weather to eat something healthy or just caving and making myself a fattening cheesy omlet. Reasoning won and I made myself a BIG salad with chopped up hard boiled eggs, carrots, and ham. It didn't hit the spot, but at least I wasn't hungry anymore. Then Saturday night went out to dinner with some friends to a Mediterranean restaurant. I ordered a chicken kabob sandwich and we all shared an order of humus. I didn't eat the rice, but I ate the entire sandwich (which had a lot of this yogurt dressing they put on it) and more than my fair share of the humus (with the pita bread). Had 5 alcoholic beverages, which probably have tons of calories. And the worst is that at midnight I was hungry since we were still out. So since we were at Old Chicago, I had one of their chocolate chip cookies with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And my justification for having it was...."It's midnight, my calories have started over and I'm going to do 90 minutes of zumba (which burn 750 calories) in the morning." On very little sleep I had to force myself to get up, have my regular 1 cup of cereal and go work out. Sunday was mostly ok as far as food goes, but although I was eating like my new "normal" is. I felt hungry most of the day. I think it was because I only had two meals all day Saturday.

This morning has not started off well. We had donuts brought in and I had TWO, with sprinkles. That is half my daily alloted calories! Now I'm freaking out because I don't know what I should have so that I'm not eating the rest of my calories for lunch! And since I'm about to have my monthly I'm craving sweet! I just want to walk over the donut box and have a donut for lunch!

Ingy, I feel you with the family stuff - just read my journal if you're interested to know what's going on with me.
