| Vegetarian | Any Non Soy Vegans? | Jan 15 2008 23:11 (UTC) |

| Hi nautywave -- I am a non-soy ex-vegan. I thought I was being super-healthy when I went vegan about 7 years ago and ate a very soy-intensive diet including tofu, soymilk, and soymeats at every meal. I was never so sick in my life. I was chronically coughing and congested, my hair fell out, and my skin was a mess including cystic acne all over my body. Took me years to figure out the soy-health connection and now I don't touch it at all if I can avoid it. I haven't had the flu or a cold in over two years and my skin and hair have improved dramatically. I am also eating meat again b/c being a non-soy vegan was too hard...and I missed bacon :)
But I am sick to death of hearing so many articles and supposed "health experts" touting the benefits of soy when it is so harmful to many of us in a variety of ways. And you're right, it does affect the thyroid..mine went haywire too. So keep spreading the word...I am with you 100%! |
