Health & Support Whaaa~! My Spouse is Making me Fat!! Sep 06 2007

That is so interesting Apseo!  I too have come to the realization that I associate my husband with both eating AND drinking! And it's horrible!  When he travels on business (which is not often), my son and I will cook fish and eat big healthy salads for dinner but when he's home, it's meat and potatoes (and mostly of the red variety).  Since I'm cooking most of the time, why do I chose to please him so much?  Oh right, I know...  It's because when he does cook, it's usually pasta based with a super creamy sauce and a steak on the side and he uses butter and oil like it's going out of style!  Oh and I should mention...  and this kills me.... he's a stick!

I was really afraid of that Unwinding factor too but it doesn't really exist in the end.  Drinking or not drinking, I'm still all wound up.  I think it has something to do with how we deal with our stress and we have chosen to squash it with some vino instead of dealing with it head on.  It's a hard one though...  really hard.  I'm trying to take on that tredmill to start with the unwind.

mfchill:  I am a carb lover and am certain to have probably been consuming Carbs, carbs and more carbs which has thus led to my steady weight gain.  So the Wine has been an extra plate of Spaghetti everyday... Maybe?

Iron-mike:  This is exactly the type of stuff I want to hear about.  So far the sugar cravings are virtually nil and since I'm a salt-o-holic too, I am pushing myself against eating them because well naturally, what goes with Pistachios? Wine.  Popcorn?  Wine.  I guess I'm trying to break more habits than I think.

So I own a tredmill and a dog both of which appear to be under-loved.  Get up and get out is my shout out.

Thank you for your insight and everyones encouraging words.

Ismile67 :  That is a very interesting peice of information regarding what to drink in order to cleanse.  I sincerely appreciate that advice.  I've upped my water and am drinking a pot of green tea each evening with dinner.  I'll put the Light Cranberry Juice on the grocery list for this weekend.

Nubiker:  Thanks... I am feeling quite proud of myself and your Congrats are well received!

Congrats!

Can I ask you what you are eating?  I have been trying to do the same because of a rather nasty plateau I am appearing to be on but feel like my additional food choices may not quite be good ones.

Any insight is great insight!

If it's any relief, GAP paid a fortune (or three) for that commercial.  One for the Old Footage, Two for the Song and Three for the Editing.  It all costs baby and big! And they are banking on us shoppers to keep them out of the hole because of it.

It really is a fabulous commercial...

Hi Ginanne17 --what are you eating every 2 to 3 hours?  I think this is what I need to be doing but I don't know what I should be putting in my mouth...  and the things I do think are ok, seem to push me over the caloric edge.

My older brother does this too infact and he was diagnosed with Mental Illness.

I hope its not the same for your brother...  mine is 44 now and still the same way.

Just don't yell at him or get furious/frustrated.  You have to find a really great tactic that empowers him and makes you happy.  Any thoughts?

The smartest thing you can do is to NOT yell at him. Boys repel when yelled at by a woman.  I signifies defeat to them (apparently).  I'm no expert but I have a 15 year old (who wants to study at McGill !!!) and who was very much like your brother... wait a minute.  How old is your Brother???

Fitness Anyone have shin splints? Aug 18 2006

I suffer(ed) terribly from Shin Splints and discovered that a good foot stretch both before and after the walk cured it.

By foot stretch I mean Heel down (top of foot comes close to shin area) and Toes down (top of foot is further away from shin area).

Hope this helps!

I used to love my tredmill but ever since I've been watching my calories via CC, I hate my tredmill.  It's like my energy has been zapped despite the fact that I am eating my recommended amount (and sometimes) and then some!
Weight Loss Could I be Overdoing it? Aug 10 2006
02:54 (UTC)
I know, I know which is why I've been really trying to keep it at the better: 500 mark and think that I am stagering my intake enough to be realizing a loss and I do see that loss, up until I over excert myself.

While I think that I am doing a service to my body by working it, I am left with the non reward of weight gain.  :(

Really?  If you have more the 20 pounds to lose your deficit can be up as high as 1000 calories per day?  And this is OK?

In CC's Q&A they have the answer to the trend line question.  It should be prerequisite reading.  All of it.

I've been seriously around here since June and have lost 5 lbs (but just gained back 2 inexplicable pounds).  I'm 5'5", 41 years old and hold most of my weight in my mid section (not pretty).  My starting weight was 155, my goal weight is 125 but I'm sure that I would be quite happy at 130.
