I went to several Doc's over the years about my weight problem and none of them took it seriously (I went from being around 135/140 to 230lbs in a couple of years). I frequently got told to eat around 1000-1200 calories a day and to excercise more. I finally thought I had found one who was interested and prescribed me Orlistat - only for them to call me a liar when I didn't lose any weight on it. It finally turned out I have had polycystic ovary syndrome for 12 years and thats not only why I gained but also why I couldn't lose. Now I'm not saying that you could have something wrong with you - just that Doc's dont always look for causes of problems. I'm the same height as you and I have been losing weight eating around 1700-2000 cals a day and excercising 2-5 times a week and I think I would probably pass out on 1200! If you really are trying as hard as you think and the weight is not coming off, you should definately go see a nutritionist. |

YORKSHIRE TEA!!!!! WHITE NO SUGAR. A jammy dodger is a British biscuit - basically 2 round biscuits sandwhiched together with strawberry jam, with a hole in the top biscuit for no apparent reason other than to lick the jam with or sitck you finger in lol. I however think the best biscuit for dunking has to be McVities Caramel Chocolate Digestives (they are my downfall, ya cant just have 1 or 2...) which when ducked soak up the tea but stay held together by the chewy caramel - droooooool..... |

I'm 5'8" and currently weigh 203, was 228 last year! Aiming for 154 of lean muscle. Unfortunately put a lot of weight on over past 10 years due to un-diagnosed poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. Now I know whats wrong and how to treat it I am hoping I can gat my body back! Lowest was 133 and I looked likea skeleton - all hips and shoulders and nothing much else! |

- 25yrs old -172cm (5'8") -204lbs (93.4kg) -UK size 16-18 jeans depending on cut (US 12-14) -UK size 14 top (US 10) -Pear-shaped at the moment but was hourglass when at ideal weight &nb sp; (140lbs and 34-24-34 figure!) - hope to get somewhere near that again |

Cheers plaidpooka, I guess that would help lol!! Typical day for me is like this: Breakfast - a bowl of cereal with soya milk ~ 250 cals Lunch - a salad or cold pasta ~ 300 cals Dinner - pasta or rice with vegetables, occasionally some fish but I rarely eat meat ~ 500-600 calories Snacks - 3 or 4 pieces of fruit a day, and maybe a packet of low-fat and low-cal pretzels (<100cals) or a low fat soya yoghurt i also have the odd small glass of red wine (150ml) with dinner, maybe twice a week My clothes are a little bit looser but no as much as I would expect after over a month af behaving like a bloody saint!!! |

I went to my GP a year ago as I wasnt having any luck losing weight. Despite showing him a 1200 calorie a day food plan that I was following to the letter, he said I was fat because I was obviously greedy and ate too much , and refused to send me to a nutritionist. GIT!!!!! |

helloooo I'm on 20mg of Fluoxetine a day for depression and anxiety after 6 years on varying doses of Citalopram. Since going on medication I have gained over 100lbs (over 6 years). I do struggle to keep myself motivated sometimes, but generally put this down to being a bit lazy and liking my sleep too much lol! It is common however to lose motivation and drive if you are on the wrong medication or dosage for you so it is something you should speak to your GP about. |

I'm 5'8" and 24 at my highest weight I was 230lbs - after 4 years at uni eating pizza, beer, curry etc at my lowest I was just 126 lbs - i was probably too thin then as i have quite broad shoulders but i was in secondary school and didnt really eat properly my current weight is 221lbs - i'm trying to get down to 145-150 over 2 years, but have set myself an intermediate target of 195lbs by my birthday in september.

Today I managed to NOT buy a packet of biscuits for the office despite staring at them for a full 15 minutes, but instead went for a walk and ate some low-fat mini pretzels instead. I also forced myself to go to the pool and swim 35 lengths. |
