i'll do it. i'm 137, 5'3" summer is around the corner, and i have a beach vacation in a couple months. i've been maintaining (or stuck for that matter) for the last couple months. ready to take it to the next level whatever that it. i need to gain muscle at the same time because i look more like 150. good news is that i have been losing since last year. not much, but never gained anything back that i lost. my main goal is MUSCLE. |

thanks for the motivation niamhusmaximus!! i'm going to take the plunge and join that gym asap. i mean really, i can see the gym from the front door of my house. it doesn't get better than that. i decided that i'm not going to let men who are bettering their bodies intimidate ME and stop me from bettering mine. they can "hoot and hollar" all they want, i'll just tune them out with my mp3. i am so close to my goal. :) |

me too! exercise! i have a gym down the street.. maybe a 2 minute walk from my house. i also have a 24 hour gym in the building that i work in. here is my pathetic excuse: (1)the gym near my place is mainly used by men and when i went to get info with friends, the men were acting like they never saw women before ... so that was a turn off. plus i haven't worked out in so long, i don't want to be panting and out of breath after 5 minutes of running infront of all these buff people. (2) the gym at work is small and always packed. these 2 ridiculous excuses are the reasons why i can't ditch the last 10 pounds.i will eventually get over this because i'll be on a beach in three months so time is ticking away. luckily i have control over what i eat.. that's the easy part. |

i'm also in the same EXACT situation. 5' 3" and stuck between 138-139 for soooo long. i can't say i'm as meticulous as you are about my exercise habits, but still! i eat pretty good. as soon as i get to 137(one little pound), i'll be throwing a party.

i'm going to splurge on purses... love'em completely change my hair style take a beach vacation .... well that's whether or not i meet my goals, but it will be an even sweeter vacation if i have the body i want. can't wait. i haven't cheated at all the entire week. drinking lots of water till i'm completely full has been the trick that works for me so far. that's how i avoid the cravings. |

to look like someone who works out regularly to stop having to hold in my stomach in a form fitted shirt ..fooling myself into thinking that i have a flat stomach. to prove to myself that i was born with more control than a chocolate chip cookie i'll be on a beach in 3 months...soo the wow factor! to be HEALTHY and avoid turning out like the patients that i see everyday at work. |

For me it's french fries. That's why I haven't had a single french frie since august 2007. ( about a year and a half !!!) Even though it's been so long, I STILL crave them every time I smell them. i wish i could give up cookies just as easily. |

SW 142 CW 140 i thought i did some damage over the past week, but it wasn't so bad. for example i had my first big mac in months. it was very disappointing and not worth it. i just found out that one of my good friends is on a diet, so that is motivating. a little healthy competition between us. no one else in my circle of friends cares to join. they don't need to anyway. the cheese and dark chocolate in my fridge is just calling my name, but i will resist. |

hope you don't mind if i jump in. i've been away from the forums for months, but i'm 14 lbs from my goal, and its the hardest thing ever for me!!! it's driving me nuts. so as i finish eating the last few bites of this delicious souvlaki, i'm with you on the 5 lbs by october. so my "diet" starts in 60 seconds. in fact, i moved to a new area a couple months ago, and there is a gym that's less than a 2 minute walk that i plan on joining. does it get better than that?? i'm also packing up every guilty pleasure in the kitchen and bringing it to a friend's house tonight. so here i go: 30 y/o female and 5' 3" CW: 142 GW: 128 GW for october 1st : 137 I CAN and I WILL |

vegetariangeek.... lol. well you're right, could be worse. actually, the way i've been eating this weekend so far is probably my worse weekend this year. i won't even begin to list what i just ate a couple hours ago. never good when you feel sick after. here is the problem....i skipped breakfast and lunch yesterday. but by mid afternoon i had an incredible desire for chocolate. i walked into the store, and looked at the selection, then found the will power to walk out. but the craving was still there... any way came home, and devoured a lot more. my eyes were bigger than my stomach. ah well, tomorrow is a new day right!?! tonight i'm having a plate of only vegetables for supper. i was on my way to a cocktail party tonight ( with lots of cocktails), but i decided to skip out on it because its too far to drive. it's a good thing because that would have sealed the deal on a horrible weekend of bad eating. |

foxy lady, you make me laugh. funny funny!. you have plenty time to catch up because i have been slacking all week anyway. i've been eating lots of salad, BUT .. ceasor salad ( creamy dressing, bacon bits, croutons, cheese.... yum). so yah, not helping the weight loss. desert has been jello topped with whip cream or ice cream. i don't feel guilty at all, i enjoyed it, and i will get serious again tomorrow. okay foxylady, lets do this, well ALL of us!!!! one thing i'm proud of is that i eat less bread, cereal, pasta.. things like that. i have more control finally. i am jealous of all you people exercising. i'm lazy about it and on top of that, i have regular physio therapy for a leg injury that's over a year old. i finally decided to do something about it, but any lower body exercises are not happening... painful ( no running, no cycling, no elliptical) vpireiner... thanks for the messages of motivation. #1,7,8,9,19,23, 25 really stick for me. hello to everyone else, keep it up. i think i have to investigate laser more before i dish out all that money for it. ttyl, watching a hockey game.

hmm, i lied, i'm 146 not 144. actually my scale lied. that's okay though, i'm still plowing through. congrats to everyone on the success. i'm still in it for the long haul too. oh ya, i lowered my goal weight to 128. so as of now 18 lbs to go. what a nice day out... going for a walk to soak in the sun. to answer your question foxylady: shaver and a waxer, but considering laser. what do you think?? worth it?? if anyone has suggestions for ingrown hairs please share. |

it's summer in the city, and i'm getting excited. for once, i want to be completely comfortable and confident. i feel good now, but i want to feel amazing. this year for 2008 ( aka 2000 & great), i'm going to push myself to be my best. 5' 3" CW 146 GW 128 .... not quite 25lbs but close enough, right? 18 lbs to drop ..... first goal 138. biggest weakness is moderation. its either all or nothing, especially when it comes to chocolate. |

finally, i'm having a very relaxing day off from work. man, did i ever need it. foxylady...moving to a new country??? where to? that is a big move. to answer your question, yes, i do still lose weight even after heavy eating. strange, but true. innocent_sin, i don't know about those work out videos. but i hear some of them are really good, but i wouldn't count on the 10 day thing. i looked up videos on "you tube" and found some pretty good ones, especially for pilates. they are short segments. the recent hot weather was the kick in the butt that i needed i have a wedding, and a trip to NY coming up in the next two months, and i think i'll be at my goal weight by then. but i won't be as toned that soon. that's a summer long goal and one that will be difficult for me since i'm never consistent with weight training. i think i'm gonna have to enlist the help of a personal trainer to help with getting definition. talk to you again.

welcome photomeg... i can relate to the panic of nice weather starting. although i would prefer a hot sunny day on the beach over a blizzard any day, i'm starting to stress now that its warming up. don't worry, there's no better time like the present to start this thing. paige, although i agree with you that the comments he made weren't the best... comments like that would make me want to prove them wrong. BUT, keep in mind who you should be doing it for... YOU. i was never very overweight ( in my opinion), but i was "thick".. okay chubby. my problem was that no one ever commented on me gaining weight, so i was oblivious until i got a scale, and clothes i hardly wore felt really tight. i wish my friends would have told me, but they said i was always positive and showed a lot of self esteem, so they thought that i was alright with it. uh no! i think you should talk to him about what motivates you and what hinders your progress. anyone have any new tips to share (eating wise)? what are you guys eating in a typical day and do you really count calories ? i don't, i read all labels at the grocery store though! we can help eachother better that way. |

hello ladies, welcome erin, we have similiar stats and similiar goals.paige, i'm glad that you're back and that you are making yourself #1. i agree, that you should ditch the scale for now. don't ever tell yourslf that it's not worth it. you are going to do fine. small goals first!!! the past three days, i have been on track, so i do expect a loss within a week. its not so much what i did, its what i didn't do. i never ate mindlessly, i didn't eat anything fried, no fast food. i went grocery shopping with a specific list, and i did not deviate from it at all. i didn't buy lunch or dinner, everything was home made. some motivation or pointers for you guys...... if your gonna have chips, buy the small bag, but don't buy the family pack when grocery shopping. also, i try not to buy junk when i'm alone because i end up eating it all. i buy it when i'm with someone, and i share half of what i have with the person. last week i bought chocolatebecause i was craving it big time, and i gave away most of it at a seminar. i hardly had any left for me. use smaller dishes.... if there are no vegetables on the menu for dinner, then use a smaller plate. chew on celery or something crunchy when you KNOW you aren't hungry, but just restless. i eat more when i'm restless, my bad habit i have to break. i know it's easier said than done. visualize yourself looking trim. remember, you have a great body already, it's just a matter of peeling of the layers ( excess weight) that is covering you. in my family, refusing food when offered to you is a NO NO!! but i've learned to do it even when i get a bad reaction from people. i kept my dieting a secret, but now that i tell people, they respect my decision to refuse their offer. don't drink your calories away. dilute it with a lighter option like water if you like. i do that sometimes with juice like tropicana. but with canned syrop juice, its very blah. i don't really drink juice anyway. i stick to water, 1% milk, smoothies with a lot of water to thin it out. lastly, i hear this all the time,....nothing tastes as good as thin feels, IF being thin is your goal. i know some slightly heavier people that are healthy, active, well proportioned, and look fabulous. this is not practical for everyone, but it works for me. ttyl! |

hi everyone, my only good news is that i haven't gained anything, i don't feel guilty at all for not being strict about "dieting" because i am very proud of my accomplishment so far. so for the fact that i haven't gained indicates that i have changed my eating habits and its become effortless. i was in the mid 160's for a few years and then hit the low 170's last october. so to date, i have lost a total of 22 pounds plus or minus those daily fluctuations. still 151. my mini goals changed basically daily, i don't exercise at all because i move a lot naturally all day at work, and i'm always dancing. but... NEW mini goal ONCE AGAIN is to get from 151 to 143 during the month of april. i hope everyone is doing well. i also hope that if you splurge on something then you do it guilt free and actually enjoy it. i have to remember that i (we) are in control of what happens. its not about will power which is only temporary, but self control. going back to what vpireiner said ( i think??) about why we are doing this.... my reason is simply because i want to be tip top shape, and look my best ( according to my own standards for my self). |

well, the scale has not really moved much....still 151. goal is 130 i guess..... so 21 lbs to go. my immediate challenge is to reach 140 that's okay, i'm still really motivated. i didn't expect much because i wasn't doing much to make the numbers go down, just maintain. therefore, my goals have been delayed. i left my self a note on my fridge in huge letters reminding myself to make a wise choice BEFORE going into the the fridge or pantry to eat something. it kinda works. i also have my goals written on it as well as a short list of things that i should avoid over indulging in. on the menu tonight is sauteed vegetables and chicken. have a good weekend. |

foxylady, be sure to add something to it. i add a pinch of salt and black pepper. without it, its very blah..... i aslo use a little ketchup. also a dietician told a friend of mine that quinoa is extremely healthy for you. i haven't had it before. i use bulgar instead of white rice. i also add ground flaxseed to a lot of my food too. very healthy, but calorie packed so be careful. although i am a fruit junkie, i need to tone it down....lots of sugar! |

might have mentioned this before but i love eggwhites. i buy it in the real liquidy form in milk carton box. the amount that i eat 3-4 times a week or more has 21 grams of protein and 90 calories for a 180g serving. i know i mentioned it in a previous post, but it really curbs my hunger big time!..... sometimes i add vegetables to it. (scrambled or omlette style) vpireiner.... i am definatley with you on the motivation thing. i will not fail! c'mon guys, let's do this (without being too obsessed though). i'm off work all of next week, i am comitted to getting to the gym atleast 4 days and eating better than i ever did before. paige.. where are you? your posts are always so inspiring. if you need help getting motivated, we can do it! |

| i'm back. i guess i stayed away for a while because there was really nothing new going on. no loss, no gain, no diet. but now i'm back to eating right.i'm just doing exactly what worked the first time, also because people have noticed that i look a little different... works for me. still 151, but i'm motivated all over again. i'm sure i will see a change ( loss that is) in a week from now. looking forward to seeing -2 or -3. talk to you guys soon. i'm curious about how everyone else is doing. let me (us) know. yah, i agree with innocent sin..... post even to say hi! | |||

thanks vpireiner, i did lose sight of why i was doing it because i was so focused on why it wasn't working. my goal ended up being about numbers and nothing concrete. once i figure out MY real reason (because right now there are so many) then it will help me regain focus. thanks so much, helped a whole lot.... and congrats on your accomplishments!!!! vegetariangeek and foxlady, i will definately use your suggestions for supper this weekend. i have made fahitas many times, but its been months. i forgot how much i love them. squash.....i've never had before, but this is a new year....i going to try it! |

just popping by to say hello. the scale says 151, and i can live with that for now. i thought it would be worse by now. thanks guys for the motivation messages. i'm slowly getting back on track. i realize that my down fall started when i was going to these conferences a few times a week for my internship. they were serving lots of food like croissants, cheese, cakes, muffins, and a whole lot of other stuff that i should have avoided. it was basically a free for all. then i got so swamped with studying, i had no time to shop for food, so i started eating out for breakfast and lunch. what a waste of money that was. the big exam is this friday, then i'll pretty much be stress free for a few weeks, so things will get better. ... strange how a few of us all kinda loss motivation around the same time?!?! i really thought i was going to be the only one. spring is really just around the corner... well at least where i am, so i plan to look and feel my best for the season. how is everyone else doing? anyone want to recommend a really great supper that i can make this saturday?? something quick and obviously healthy. i'm celebrating getting back on track for march. |

BUT THAT'S OKAY, i'm starting again. the first thing i need to do is get a grip on this new addiction to chocolate okay girls... so let's do this!!! me:: weight last week: 148...... this week (148-152??? guessing). goal for april 1st: 140 ...... goal for may 1st: 135.....goal for june 1st: 130 completely doable.
