Oh Lucy, I wish you all the best now too, and you sound like you are doing so well! I love you attitude...amen! You need to treat yourself (your Mom would have wanted you too!) and work through the memories, I hope when my mom goes I am as well balanced...

Thinking of everyone else too...

Many blessings, Alylou

*slaps Connie's hand again* put down those cigarettes!Tongue out

Welcome Newbies! we may be a busy bunch..but we are kind, supportive, nonjudgmental, funny, and interesting.  Ok, all the rest are, I just hitch along and enjoy the show!

Had a bad 3 days of eating, our teacher's convention...lots of food, frustration and boredom: 2 lbs up. grrrr *hoists big backside back up on wagon*

I am glad I have no respiratory issues, I have 1000 lbs of leaves in my yard right now...(we have 100 trees!) and my hubby has an ongoing major project up north...so every one of those leaves has my name on them!!

Still praying for what have become in my head, "the Mommas" !

What is everyone planning for thanksgiving?

Happy Halloween!

Suz, I couldn't agree more with the above thoughts: Imagine your Dad looking down and being mad cause you are not moping around...sounds silly doesn't it? At my grandmother's funeral a little girl said "but she is in Heaven, wouldn't she want us to celebrate?" and everyone stopped and realized how right she was! I hope you have a ball at the concert!

Bummer about the flu Tammy! I hope you bounce back quickly...I only had quick brush with it (TTL!)...it is interesting-your daughter may not have it nearly as bad as you-because of her age.  (and Connie, your mom is probably completely safe! older folks have an immunity that kids do not.) Our health dept. has been having regular meetings with the schools to keep us posted. I have been dealing with lots of it in my classroom, our school had 26% out on Friday. Because of our teacher convention, this will be a long weekend, so we are hoping everyone heals up.

I don't think I have posted much since going to NYC to see our son. It was a wonderful weekend, but as expected, I was up 3.5 lbs when I got home...Cry I knew I was eating a ton..but we walked 5-8 miles a DAY..so I had hopes that the scales would not be too bad...oh well. I have been working on it since (yes I even bought stuff I don't like for Halloween!) and am now back down to where I was before I left. 7 lbs more to go and I will be back to my all time low-my goal for Christmas.

Jazz, remember each bite you eat (or do not!Innocent) is the moment you make a decision to loose or not. It is NEVER too late to make THIS MOMENT the moment you begin to loose again! Do not give up! ( and I love yours and Connie's rambles!)

Connie! *slaps hand* put that candy inside three bags-make it hard to get to- and after tonight if you have leftovers GIVE THEM AWAY! You KNOW that the little flash of MMMM that you get from candy is NO WHERE NEAR the ughh of having to work it off! Yell     *preacher Alylou steps down from her pulpit*

Lucy I do hope you are finding time to take care of yourself, It is so important! Little things like taking a quiet walk through some fall leaves, getting your nails done, buy and try some fabulous new sort of tea, or re-read sections of a favorite book (Jan Karon is a great comfort giver-ever read her Mitford books? wonderful series...) will help!

Sue, how are you??

I will continue to pray for your folks, Sue, Lucy, Suz, and Connie!

ARRRG! WHAT IS THE WHITE STUFF FALLING OUT OF OUR SKY?? it was NOT supposed to snow today.grrr there goes my leaf raking afternoon!

Hello Tammy, Lucy and Queen Connie....and anyone else lurking about!

I have been pretty good the last 2 weeks and am FIANNALY seeing a change in the scales. Just in time for parent's weekend in NYC...where I will gain it and a bit more back! arg.

I am so sorry there is such pain out there...I almost feel guilty for being fairly care free for the moment.  But I continue to pray for everybody's situation.

Here is a silly to help cheer you up...Cool...A mom is filming her son doing tricks on his skate board....

Hi again,

Tammy, I am wishing you plenty of good luck! But better than luck, I am wishing you good health and determination! you can do it!

Jasmine, poor poor puppy! I have one with a bee sting that got a staff infection...on his nose! poor thing has to wear a collar and he looks more like Jimmy Durante than a Westie!

Being stuck in the house is a temptation, maybe now is the time to clean out all the junk food (throw it out-don't eat it! Tongue out), or maybe you have energetic closet clearing to do?...just grasping for some ideas here...

I just got home 30 minutes ago from the airport after taking my son to NYU and I am busy trying to avoid thinking about how QUIET the house is..even hubby and puppies are up north...

Tomorrow is the first day of classes here, so that will keep me busy...and hopefully not weepy...

"Queen Connie"...how goes it girl?

Hello all,

I had planned on getting back in the swing of things last week, but my mom is here visiting and her first day she took a fall and banged herself up...so I have been tending her, getting all three kids ready for college, and started back working in my classroom.

She is going to be fine, but she looks like she was in a doozy of a bar-room fight! lol.

We have a reaccuring theme on the thread of parent-care, I am not sure why, but I never dreamed I would be feeling like I needed to baby-sit my mother!

In between kids and parents, there isnt much room (or TIME!) for me...so I have been eating.

Sorry, I don't mean to be a self centered downer...just too tired I guess. I will try to perk up for my next post.

Hello all!

Remember me?

I have been so hither-thither this summer that i fell off the map of CC!

welcome newbies!

I have been painting houses (my parents), gardening, backpacking, sorting out college papers (THREE freaking colleges now! help!), taking a grad class, and oh ya, tending 3 kids and a hubby!

My old laptop finally crashed and I have the wolds S-L-O-W-E-S-T dial up at the cabin, leading to rare sessions on any computer this summer. (I am at a cyber cafe right now).

I will be reading all the posts as time permits, I missed you all!

I'mmmmm back...!

Loving Sue's idea...but ummm pick a dress that works with Spanx! So sorry about your flooding, Sue, what a PAIN! As for kids moving away...this is my third, first one went to Dallas, and is now headed to Northern Michigan, the next went to southern Mich, now New York. next year, my closest kid will be 5 hours away!

Hey Joey, we are a grand bunch! welcome.

Because of my kids, I FaceBook ...alot...Truus and Connie- the love struck are both FB friends! ( new nick name...?)

Well, my week: insane, crazy, over the top, nuts! during the week, on top of making a class banner to hang in church, finishing up a few big projects in history and English, we painted the playground for the little kids! We put on a HUGE map of the USA, each state a different color, BB courts, four squares, and hopscotch (2 versions). Then Friday night was our lockin, and the last kid went to sleep at 6:30 AM! (so that is when I could sleep!) Today was the climactic ending with the graduation of my class, the best bunch I ever had! Lots of tears and I gave a talk about each kid...drained: like someone opened my toe like a spitogt and drained me out!

So I am writing you all with the help of my second Pom-tini......mmmmmm more tomorrow!

Tammy, glad the back is better a bit...Lucy hope yours follows!

You may not see, or hear, much from me this week, it is the last week of school for us, and as I am in charge of graduating these 8th graders...the week is FILLED with stuff! we have a lock in on Friday night, no sleep at all...then Sunday is the actual graduation.

sooo.... see you when I can!!!

Wow! It seeme as if I took a month off ...not a day!

Lets see...CONNIE*girlfriend screams* I am so excited for you! Now there is one big reason to get your weight back on track...a wonderful man!!LaughingSmileLaughingSmileLaughingSmileGot the giggles just now, cause as I type (home alone on a Friday night) YOU are out with a starry eyed Beau!!  Congrats....many times over...

mervy, good for you---you know what you want! that is half the battle! Welcome to our uber-fabulous bunch of ladies!

Sue, so good to hear from you! The pict is adorable! Sweet girl, and such proud parents! and are those honors ropes I see?? congrats! You are much braver than I, My kids parties have all been small affairs, partly because we have no family for 1800 miles! and btw, those pounds don't count!

Lucy requested an update, hmmm not much, still teaching, for another week. My youngest has his graduation on the 10th, his decision is made for a school, NYU. (Not that I am fully at ease with that choice...it is a big city and he is a small town boy...) All my chicks are home for the summer, which we will spit btween home and our cabin. (mervy, I live in Wisconsin) ready for summer..big time!

Tammy, Yahhh sleep! you are on the upswing now! How is your daughter's beauty trainig/work going?

Axe, good to hear from you! are you into another batch of costumes, or does the hobby have some sort of season...

Suz, I hope the peace is holding at your ranch. I have the MIL from ...well not quite hell... purgitory? She likes to talk about my hubby's "best years" before he met me! What is weird is we used to get along great! but as she has aged she has turned a 180 against me. Thank goodness for long distances between us!

Daryl...did we chase you off? I hope not! we may be goofy, but we are wonderful!Embarassed

Truus, How is the arm? Did the second dose of accupuncture help? I do hope so! What is your kids' summer schedule? do they get much time off  from school?

Janet, are you home yet?

Good grief, gotta wrap this up! G'night!
