Old Navy is the worst with consistency. I have a medium in some khaki shorts that fits fine, and I have a skirt in a 10, and the rest of my Old Navy bottoms are 14 and 16. I even have one pair of pants in an 18, and they are snugger than my 14s. Their tops are bad, too. I can wear a medium in one and need an XXL in another. I pretty much don't shop there anymore. It doesn't get much better with more expensive brands either. My closet goes from a 10-18, and I can wear almost all of it right now. It sucks, but I pretty much just try everything on before I buy it! |

I am making terrible choices on St. Pat's! And I'm excited, and I refuse to feel guilty about it! After I go drop my appellate brief off in the morning, I'm going to go to O'Connell's with my law school friends and have green eggs and ham. Then I am drinking green beer until I puke green puke! Then I'm going to spend Spring Break cleaning out my apartment and getting everything in order. I'll probably outline some of my courses, too. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

feddie - I'm an amateur seamstress. I can make basic items of clothing (dresses, skirts, costumes), but I can't do anything particularly fancy. I can also do alterations on most things. The costume consisted of a leotard that I bought and put the symbol on, and a skirt I made out of a sparkly, shiny, synthetic fabric. I also made a cape out of the same fabric. The boots were store bought. I also crochet scarfs, bags, hats, and other things. sonini - Yes, he does have a brother, but his brother is 14, LOL! yessica - umm... Yes, I would probably take the cancer chance. I really want to be in shape! I'm a gambler, what can I say? If it was a real choice, I'd really have to think about it before picking one or the other. |

feddiechick - Yeah, people say he looks like Superman or Clark Kent ALL the time. I've always had a thing for guys who look like Clark Kent, so I fell for him instantly. I still can't believe he picked me, too! John Lennon and Paul Simon were both REALLY hot, so you're lucky to have a husband that looks like one of them! I am amazed that I looked that good in my costume. It's hard to believe that if I lost 30 lbs, I would look like that again! I actually made the costume, because I couldn't find an accurate one that I liked. You should see the red patent leather stiletto boots that go with it!!! |

Suzanne - You're awesome, and so sweet for catching up with everyone! The elliptical machines I use (also called a cross-trainer) have a reverse function. It's really great, because it works a whole different group of muscles, including your front thighs and butt! I can really burn a lot of calories on the ellipticals in a short time doing that in intervals with going forward. I find it's a good way to supplement the small amount of calories I'm burning with Couch to 5K. I know that if I keep working hard, I'll be able to fit into my skinny Levi's and tight Fender t-shirt without muffin top! Today was a better day. I haven't felt hungry all day, but I did feel really lethargic. I only made one terrible food choice today. It was the annual Students for Access To Justice bake sale, and I had one cupcake from the awesome baker in our class. I figured it was a once a year kind of thing and for a good cause. I suppose I could have just given the dollar and not taken the cupcake, but it was so delicious! It was also Sonic day (a weekly trip with one of my girlfriends), but I got a Diet Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper, and it is delicious! The weather here is lovely today, so I think I am going to forgo the gym and go for a brisk walk outside instead. Hope every one else is doing well today! |

| mladdy - I am SO proud of you for sticking with your diet/exercise! It's nice to have something solid when you feel like nothing else is going your way. My diet is going terrible today, but I did finish my last Couch to 5K workout for Week 1! And tomorrow is a new day, and I can jump back on the diet bandwagon. As for your relationship drama, I don't have much advice, but I'll keep you in my prayers. I hope the job thing works out for you! | |||

Well, my leak hasn't been fixed (at least there haven't been any roofers), but it hasn't rained since. I'm doing so BAD today!!! I went to the gym, but I've just been so hungry all day! I'm talking, stomach growling, angsty hunger! I keep trying to drink a glass of water and wait before I have a snack, but I still feel starving. I've tried to eat healthy snacks, but it's only 5:45 PM here, and I've used all my calories. I'm not usually like this, so I don't know what's wrong. Oh well, if anything else, tomorrow is a new day. |

Even when I was in decent shape in high school and the beginning of college, I didn't have enough confidence to even flirt or talk to hot guys. I was kind of a nerd in high school, and the boys I liked were WAY out of my league. I mean, they all knew who I was because I've always been loud, opinionated, and occasionally funny or clever. But I was SO sure that they wouldn't be interested that I never bothered. When I was much younger (probably eighth or ninth grade), I would always ask guys to dances, and I didn't care what anyone else thought about me. I really wish I could still be that way. I'm in a serious relationship now with a wonderful guy who adores me, but I still feel so uncomfortable in my own skin that I hate going out with my friends. I don't want people to think that I'm the fat girl in my group (I am, but I don't want anyone else to notice! I'm sick of wearing loose clothes to hide the bulge! I want to wear some cute clothes, damnit!!! I have tons of great clothes, but I can't wear them because certain tops show my pudge, or certain pants give me muffin top... I can still shop in most of the stores that I like, but my options are limited. If I want to buy J. Crew, I have to order, because they don't carry XL or 16 in the stores usually. I can shop at NY&CO, but their clothes are usually ill-fitting on me. I would like to be able to go into Abercrombie and not have to shop out of the guys section! Ugh... Sorry for my rant, but reading the previous posts made me feel some pretty volatile emotions. Anybody else feeling the same? watchmeshine - I know how you feel! I'm doing tons of research for my appellate brief and moot court. I just discovered the state survey tools on WestLaw and Lexis, so I'm excited. I'm such a nerd! |

Hey, ladies! I've had a busy day, but things are going well! Suzanne - Sorry to hear about your troubles! I'll say a little prayer for you. (Now I'm going to be singing that song, too...) mladdy - As much as I wanted to, I did not do the Couch to 5K two days in a row. I decided to do something different today. I did 15 minutes backwards on the elliptical machine (my poor legs!) and then I did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike for cardio. I can't feel my butt right now, but I still feel okay. I'm going to go for Workout #2 on Couch to 5K tomorrow. Welcome to all the other new ladies! This is a great group of ladies who are inspiring and beautiful. I'm sure you will all fit right in! watchmeshine82 - I didn't know you were a lawyer!!! That is so exciting! What type of law do you practice? I don't know many lawyers in practice, so I like to hear about what people actually do when they finish law school. And your fajitas sound delicious! Hope all is well with everyone, and have a great evening! |

mladdy - Congrats on your fabulous workout! And good luck on the interview (if hasn't already happened)! I did my first Couch to 5K workout today, and I did all of it without having to stop. I then did 15 minutes on the elliptical machine to work my arms and other leg muscles. I had to cut short today because I have an outline due tomorrow that needs some major work. Hope all is well with everyone else! |

lawgirl25 - Yay, I'm glad to hear that you tried it and made it so far on the first day! I'm going to try to get through all of it. dalmalama and mladdy - You should totally give it a try! The link that mladdy posted is the one that I'm using. I'll let everyone know later tonight how it goes. I'm going to do it on a treadmill inside to keep the impact on my shins and knees low. We have an indoor track, but I think the treadmill would help me keep track of the time better. watchmeshine82 - I don't really know about your situation and "the guy," but I too struggle with pounds vs. inches. When I did the South Beach diet a few summers ago and lost 30 lbs, I only lost one size! However, that was my pants. My shirts and dresses all fit looser and better in my upper torso. My lower tummy is my problem area, and I can easily lose my other fat, but my tummy tub never goes away. I know how frustrating it can be! Just hang in there. Hope all is well with everyone else! |

Thanks for the welcome, ennazus (I don't know anyone's real/nickname on here yet)! Today was a good day, and I actually met my calorie goal. I'm still REALLY stressed out about school, but things are slowly getting better. Tomorrow, I'm starting on the Couch to 5K running plan, and I want to see if I can actually do the first week workout without passing out! alibuch - That's really sad about the ESL teacher! I'll definitely look into donating some money. It might not be much, but I can spare $1, I'm sure! mladdy - You should feel sexy when you work out! I feel like a sweaty, tomato-faced, wheezing sack of lard, but after I shower and cool down, I feel so much better about myself. Instead of feeling down about how much weight I've gained and how I look, I feel like I'm doing something about it, and it really helps! everyone else - I look forward to getting to know everyone on here! Good luck on your plans! |

| How many calories does stress burn?! J/K, but today was terrible! The ceiling in my apartment started leaking last night during a sleet storm, and the maintenance people said it wasn't an emergency! And today, we had so many things scheduled at my law school that there was no time for lunch. So I had to eat a meal replacement bar, which left me feeling empty, and now that I'm home, I'm craving some major junk food! ACK! | |||

| I'm about 5'8", 220 pounds, and I wear 14-16, depending on the brand. In most jeans, I wear a 14 (Levi's and Banana Republic), but in dressy pants, I have to have a 16. My waist is about a 12, though, so I have fit problems. If I buy the Contour Fit/Urban Boot Cut from Banana, they fit great. Curvy Levi's 529 are excellent as well. The Blakely fit dress pant from Eddie Bauer is also perfect for my figure. I always take an XL in tops, and sometimes that doesn't even fit. I can't buy button ups b/c of my chest, unless I buy them from Lane Bryant and take them in in the waist, and I try to avoid that store! |

| I think I fixed the link. For some reason, it was putting a space between the "i" and the "a" in "media," even though it was typed correctly. At any rate, the way she looks in that picture epitomizes what I think the ideal woman looks like. She's curvy, healthy, has some "boobs and butt," and just looks soft and feminine. I hate the hard, harsh, angular, "skinny bitches" that we've been talking about on here. They don't look like women! To me, skinny does not equal automatic beauty. Give me Marilyn Monroe over Audrey Hepburn any day! (Although, I do love Audrey Hepburn, I just prefer Monroe's body style.) And for men who want pin-thins like Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton, or even the hard, muscular types like Jessica Biel and Evangeline Lilly, I guess that's okay. I just don't want to look that way. Why can't women be pillowy and soft and healthy? | |||

Okay, I totally want to join! I keep looking for girls my age who have more than 50 pounds to lose, and I can't find many. I don't want to lose quite as much as 100 pounds, but I do want to lose at least 70. I'm about 5'8", and currently weigh about 220 pounds. It's been really hard for me stay committed and eat right and go to the gym. I don't know why, but motivation is really hard for me. I think it might be because I work so hard mentally (I'm in law school). But I don't want to have my weight interfere with my job search. Plus I'm studying law at Oxford (in England) this summer, and I don't want to be the fat American girl! I also found this amazing picture of Kate Winslet, and it is now my official motivation picture. |

| Apple butter is fantastic! But where are you getting it at $10 a jar?! That seems ludicrous to me. I think I bought some at Wal-Mart for less than $4. And I know you can get higher quality apple butter at Cracker Barrel for a little more, but not $10 a jar. | |||

1. I want to be able to wear a skirt/dress and NOT have to wear Spanx to look decent. I feel like I look okay with them on, but without, you can see my tummy. I also have to wear them to keep my legs from rubbing together! It's terrible, I know. 2. I hate being one of the fattest girls in my law class. I'm really not even that big, but I definitely top the chart. I don't want to be the "chubby blonde girl" in my group of friends/peers anymore. 3. I want to be able to work out at the gym without having to layer a sports bra over my regular bra to get enough support. It increases the amount of laundry I have to do! 4. I want to fit in my boyfriend's clothes! I want to drown in one of his dress shirts, borrow his jeans, and steal his boxers for pajamas! Silly, I know, but it motivates me! |

| I'm just a bit over 5'7", not quite 5'8", I tip the scales at about 210 lbs., and I wear a 14 or 16 from almost everywhere. However, my waist is about a size 12, so I have major fit problems at any retailer. I'd love to be 150 and wear an 8. It's embarrassing to go in great stores with cute stuff, like Anthropologie, and get dirty looks from salespeople. You'd think upscale shops like that would be nice to any customer. The thing I look most forward to when I finally lose this weight is the shopping! It seems all the trends are for slender girls... | |||
