Morning everyone.  Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.  I'm so tired from my weekend I almost called out of work

Weight Loss I can't stop bingeing :[ help please May 23 2008

I was the SAME exact way until recently actually.  I've been eating healthier and not binging for the past month.  I'm not sure if this goes for you as well, but the reason I would binge was because I was craving the oh so tasty BAD foods.  The only way I was able to stop it, was to have a very small cheat day every other day where I would have just a little of what I was craving most.  Maybe like a dessert but I would eat very healthy during the day.  Its all about portion control seriously because even though I have maybe a candy bar or a slice of pizza every other day in order to keep my sanity I'm still losing the weight.  The only other thing with doing that is you of coarse are going to lose weight slower and exercise is key!  I did lose 6lbs in a month which may not seem like much, but it all adds up in the end!!  Its all about will power, put up a picture of some hot celebrity on your refrigerator that you want to look like, like lets say Jessica Alba and just say NO to the binging.  Its tough, I'm the same way but a week or two will go by and you'll be free of the binge eating

Thank God you didn't swallow the bleach!!  That would have been awful!  I actually did that with my lotion once.  I have always had a hard time sleeping, I sleep walk and everything.  One night I "woke up" grabbed my bottle of lotion, took the cover off and started to drink it then I REALLY woke up because of the taste of it but I had already swallowed a lot of it.  Didn't do anything though like I'm sure bleach would but the taste stayed in mouth for a while.  Very gross.  So since I'm new to this, I really don't know much about everyone's stories up to this point but am I getting this right Sun123 that you've lost over 100lbs since starting?  If so that is amazing!!

Where did you find one of these and roughly how much do they cost?  I completely agree with you that its a good workout.  My mother in law has one at her house for the grandkids and I only went on it for 30 mins but the next day I felt like I ran 5 miles and did 200 sit ups.  I'm in very poor shape right now though

Hi everyone!  Happy weight in day!  SW since the SB diet: 163 lbs CW:160 as of this morning.  I could have done a little exercising this week but I got pretty lazy and I'm almost done with phase 1. Getting so close to the 150's, I can't wait.  Haven't even seen the 150's in over two years now.  Congrats to everyone who lost weight!!  Even if its a little at a time, just remember it all adds up in the end.  I'm glad I found this website.  Have a great memorial day weekend if I don't talk to you guys before then!

Oh and this could be taken as good news and bad but my finace and I will be setting a date for our wedding for sometime this winter!  We're only having a very small wedding, so it should take too much to plan especially with the help of both of our families!  Great news but that means I really have to kick this diet into gear and drop the lbs in a matter of months!!  I would even be happy to be 135-140.  120 may be impossible for that short amount of time but this only gives me more motivation to lose the weight!

Wasn't sure but its Mondays and Thursdays are weigh ins right?  If so I'm still at my CW of 163 but I'm sure I'll have much better news on Monday because I'm feeling pretty good on this diet.

Yeah you know if they have no calories, like water, I don't bother entering them.  If you're looking for less carbs and say more protein, lean meats are the way to go, like chicken breast, lean beef and tuna.  Because I'm on the SB, one of the major things I eat is a can of tuna, 1tbl of mayo wrapped in lettuce.  It has about 40-45g pro and 0 carbs.  I know what you're talking about though.  I was just on a regular diet just like yours until I hit my plateau, and I also was thinking it was due to the amount of carbs I was eating.  Carbs seem to be in everything but as long as you're eating the right carbs, you shouldn't have a problem.  Not sure if you're a seafood type of person but things like salmon are also full of protein very few carbs.  You have a great diet by the way, once I get over my plateau, I'll be back on a regular diet just like yours and I can't wait but I've been stuck at a certian weight for two months now so I needed to take another route.

I have my own personal speadsheet where I log in everything including beverages but ya it would be a good idea for you to log in the beverages as well.  A lot of calories come from the beverages you choose on a daily basis and people usually forget to account for those.

Are you on the South Beach diet or just a low carb diet?  I'm on the South Beach diet  and my snacks usually consist of sugar snap peas which are the best thing to have around when you are craving something sweet.  There's also a recipe on this website for veggie cups which is mini quiche if you're in to that.  Made them last night and they came out great.  You can make 12 at a time and freeze them.  I'm sure everyone else will respond with great ideas as well but if you go to recipes and just enter in low carb, quite a few recipes will come up that are really easy to make.

Good morning!

Don't let that pound get you down carolally!  If you burned that many calories, there's always a logical reason why the scale is showing the extra lb, drink more water if you aren't already or its possible that lb is all muscle which in the end is much better.  And I don't think I have ever found a scale that has been completely accurate.  Just keep at it like you are now, don't weight yourself for another week and I'm sure next week you'll see the results you're looking for.  Hang in there everyone!

Hummus is a dip made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or beans, blended with tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic.  Some people don't like it but I think its awesome.  You can use it with almost all veggies and crackers.

My favorite snack would probably be sugar snap peas.  You can have them with hummus or even on there on they're great!  If you ever have a craving for something sweet, they're the best healthy thing to have around the house

Fat?? Are you serious??  I would love to be your size and look the way you do!  The guy obviously has no idea what he's talking about so don't let it bother you.  If you ever bump into him again just start calling him Roger Rabbit and give him a carrot, the guy is aparently an idiot so he'll have no idea what you're talking about.

300 calories just jumping rope for 30 mins?  Wow it must be harder than it looks.  I'll have to do that.  Thanks carolallyrstrehle85 I will weight the milk jugs when I get home tonight and I'll let you know how much I'm lifting.  I too can't afford the nice weights unfortunately Frown.  Well I know I could probablly find workout videos for cheap and maybe they would keep me from getting bored with my workout routine.  Thank you chompforchange!  Oh and for a little while there I was losing weight without exersizing, but at my size and after having a baby, its in my best interest to do cardio and weight training to keep from having SO MUCH excess skin unfortunately, but if you don't have that problem chompforchange, I would say you could take a break.

Thanks everyone for the advice.  I don't think I even know my BMR and what kind of deficit I should have but I'm sure I can find some free calculators somewhere here or online.

Congrats krenren77, you're well on your way!!!  And speaking of gas prices, ours is now at 3.96 and going up everyday now.  Its awful!  I swear half of my pay check goes to gas now so a gym membership is out of the question.  I've been using milk jugs full of water as weights (don't know if they're working or not) but does anyone have any other goods ideas for working out at home??

Thanks sun123 for the tips!!  I'm thinking it may be carb cravings because I ate so many carbs on my regular diet and could get by the day with 1800 calories and I wasn't starving at all.  But yesterday I just kept eating and eating (all good veggies and healthy foods at least) and went way above my goal of 1800 calories a day and was still starving.  I used to eat beans quite a bit so I will add those to my chicken dinner tonight and see how it goes.  If I have to I'll just up to my calorie limit and excersize a little bit more.  Just have to get by this first week but I know I can do it after reading everyone's progress on this diet!  How many calories do most of you eat a day on this diet?

Hi everyone!!

Hope everyone is doing well.  Just keep thinking about that cute bathing suit we all want to fit into this summer and look great in!!  I feel for all of you mother's out there!!  I have a hard time finding ANY time to excersize besides my daily walk during lunch but tkryn29 I love your idea of taking advantage of being a mom!!  My son is only 9 months old but when he's walking I will definently start chasing him around the house and playing more often.  I can only imagine how much of a work out it must be since carrying him right now is tough.

Today's delicious menu:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 1/2 skim milk

Snack: Snap Peas and Hummus

Lunch: turkey and swiss cheese roll ups

Snack: string cheese and some more snap peas

Dinner: Tuna Salad and pinto beans

Hi Everyone!

I've decided to give the SB Diet a try starting today.  I bought all the foods allowed in phase 1 and I'm eating every three hours but for some reason I am starving!!  I'm trying to fight it cause I know after reading everything that the first few days are the hardest but does anyone have any tips on getting through the first few days?  My plan is to eat 1800 calories a day, 5 or 6 meals a day.  I've been doing well just with a regular diet however for the past month I've hit my plateau and I really want to give the SB diet my all since summer is right around the corner!!

I would love to lose 15lbs by July 4th and I definently need people to motivate me because I've fallen off the wagon yet again and summer is just around the corner.  Trying to find any of those weight loss challenge groups seems impossible.  I'm 5'4 started at 190lbs and my current weight is 163lbs.  I would love to be 148lbs by July 4th.
