so glad i found you guys. hey all. congrats on all your progress. very inspirational. I'm 5'10"turned 34 on last sunday.i was very happy to have reached my short term goal of 185. i'm in brooklyn new york. i have a 10 month old and i just finished an mfa program. when i met my husband i weighed 150. so i have relationship weight, plus, grad school weight, and baby weight to lose. i have a small frame. i guess... according to cc. perhaps because i always felt like a giant i thought i had a large frame. i was 125-140 in my early to mid 20s. but i look good at 150. so my sw 205 cw 184 gw 150. i have these leather pants that have not fit me since i was 26. i would love to get into them again. today i had a great day at the gym. burned over 1000 calories. so i ate an extra 350 calories. my problem is consistency.

| Weight Loss | Threw out the scale...still gaining inches? | Jun 06 2008 13:49 (UTC) |

if you want to loose inches you need to do cardio... low weight and high reps. you also need to drop sugars, cut down on carbs and increase protein. you are tightening up but depending on the type of diet you have and how much wieght you are doing you may be bulking up.you might want to consider pilates, yoga or ballet to tone. instead of wieght lifting |

| If you are pregnant and unemployed even if it is between jobs or on break or you make less than a certain amount. you qualify for gov assistance. I'm an adjunct professor and post graduate student with no health insurance. My husband had just gotten engaged. When i became pregnant I went to my regular gyn paid my regular fee and then they told me about pcap I qualified because i made less than 21,000 per year. I also qualified for wic. Which is a great way to get healthy foods during your pregnancy. I had to be convinced to sign up because i had some pride issues. But my sister put it into perspective. It's not long term, Ive been paying taxes for the last 15 years and in sweden and france everyone get free health insurance , paid maternity ( and supplemental foods ) so it helped. I don't qualify anymore but you don't have to marry the father for health insurance. | |||

| to get definition cut out starches and sugar no juice. just fruit , green vegi's and protein. make sure you are getting 64 ounces of water per day. if you want to loose a 1200 calorie diet is good for you wieght. you might need more with you work out routine. while your sick focus on getting better. the wieght lifting is key but make sure you re resting muscle groups in between. give them a day off. the definition comes with the healing. | |||

| You have to increase your water intake and decrease salt. You should also stop drinking soda and juice. In terms of portions try keeping each meal to a pint (16 oz container) half of that should be vegetable ( starches like corn and potato don't count) Eat a huge salad everyday. allow yourself 2 bad treats per week. And drink half your body weight in ounces of water. Drinking a lot of water will help with energy and decrease water retention | |||

You have to weigh yourself at the same time every day. if your sodium intake is high and if you are female. water weight has to be considered. for some women the difference between your morning weight and your evening weight can be as much as 7 pounds. 3500= 1 pound. 12 calories x your weight = the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight. However these numbers do not take into consideration your metabolic rate. If your metabolism is screwed up from dieting, or bad habits like eating once a day it is a lot slower. It would be better to lower your required intake by 500 calorie per day only and increase your exercise regiment |

| your 30, you have finished college, and the father is your best friend. Find out how he feels about fatherhood. if he is supportive. move back to your hometown. get a new job. Have the baby. It will be a beautiful and life altering experience. And you will never love anyone like you love that baby. Life is not meant to stay the same. The only thing that is constant is change. I am a new mother. It has been challenging but she is totally worth it. Regardless of how many degrees i get, places i travel or students i see graduate, nothing has been or will be more important and amazing to me than Motherhood. | |||

| I am 5' 9" (was)198 pounds, female and 33 years old. My doctor put me on a 1950 calorie per day diet because i work out 5 times per week. In two weeks i have lost five pounds. What you have been doing sound dangerous. You should eat at least 2000 calories per day cut back on you sugar, salts and fat. Increase green veg spinach, collards, kale.... also add garlic and ginger and extra vitamin C to your diet they help with blood pressure. | |||

| I think those dollar menu's trick you into thinking it's cheaper. but if you think about it... fries, a burger and a small soda 3 x a day is 10 dollars and that still wont fill you up. that's 70 dollars a week per person. for a family of five that's 350 bucks a week. You could eat all organic free range for way less than that if you prepared foods at home. My mom fed a family of five on maybe $100 dollars per week. we did no red meat or chicken. And i don't think i ever had a orange all to my self. Lots of chinese vegetable and fish from china town. what ever is on sale.I don't think i can eat whiting ever again but i still love lots of veg chili. bean rice cabbage and canned tuna fish. a really cheap 5 dollar dinner was cabbage sauteed with 2 cans tuna onions garlic tomatoes and basil. served over rice. it feed all of us. Also keeping a freezer makes a huge difference. I now eat chicken. Last week boneless skin less chicken was on sale for 1.49 per pound. I bought 10 pounds. cleaned it cut it up and froze it into family size servings. i do the same when i go to the fish market. i will by 2 whole salmon. have them fillet it cut it up into portions season and freeze. I do live in new york so there are less huge supermarkets and more small fruit stands and fish stands but either way i still think it is cheaper than junk. | |||
