Hey people, Even though this thread is getting a bit old, I wanted to respond so people could see my response to the above posting. I stress to my customers and clients that good skin care consists of at least a 1) good cleanser, 2) a good moisturizer and 3) an SPF. After that, specific areas of concern can be addressed, whether it be the eye area, anti-aging for the skin, acne, etc. Each thing should be addressed separately and people should not try to get ONE product that can do 5 things. Remember, the biggest culprit in aging and skin damage is the sun. And I'm not talking about laying out in the suit with a margarita and an i-pod kind of sun. I'm talking about the "I'm going out to get the mail" or the "I'm going to drive to the market" kind of sun. It's the indirect sunlight that is least protected against and the most damaging. Even if it is raining, everyone should use an SPF on their face/neck. And don't forget the hands, too. The hands, the neck and the eyes are the first to show age! |

koalared, your post made me smile. That's what I wear and use as well. I've been selling MK for about 10 years now. (Don't worry ladies, I'm not going to advertise or sell to you!) Like you, I often get compliments on my 30's looks even though I'm 41. As long as you are using a good skin care routine which works for your face AND use an SPF, that's what is important.

| I'm a little partial here. I am actually in the skin care and make up business. Makeup is a personal preference. What you like to wear and how much is totally up to the individual. HOWEVER....in my profession, I stress more that it is important to take care of your skin than it is to cover up or enhance it with color and makeup. Think about it: every night make up goes down the drain. But your skin? You've got to keep that for the rest of your life. People need to think of it like painting a house. If you throw a coat of paint on a house that hasn't been prepared or taken care of, the paint will look cracked, uneven, sloppy. BUT if you prepare the house....sand it, treat the wood, protect it from the sun, even the finish....the new paint will look great (or you might like the natural wood finish even more!) I'd rather sell a good cleanser and moisturizer than to sell twice that amount in color to hide imperfections. As for me wearing makeup? As little as possible but enough to make me smile. And I was trained on how to apply makeup in my profession, and now enjoy teaching others. | |||

| Thanks....you've given me hope! I just had my first day of complete calorie counting and was sadly surprised on how little I ate and felt full. On the other hand, my husband was shocked that he ate so much and was still hungry. I guess it's all relevant. My calorie goal now is 2300 as well, so we'll see how it goes. The thought of lifting weights, however, makes me cringe! | |||

| Although I am not in the same position you are, I kind of know where you are coming from. I've never had an issue where I've had to loose weight, but I have been in a situation where the weight I had was in the wrong places!!! Too much hips, no stomach, unfirm butt, no chest. While in physical therapy during the past two years, I learned that it's all about targeting. Aerobics will help shed the little extra pounds you don't want, while weight training and resistance will help build the good muscle and give you the "shape" you want. Then as you get closer to your goal, you can adjust where you need to target more or less. You need to be motivated, but also not overwhelmed. I was taught in my profession that you can do anything for 10 minutes. So start like that. A quick 10 minute fast paced walk, the next day 10 minutes of leg work, the next arm work, then ab work, etc. Soon, it will be routine and you can increase time and see results. Good luck and keep me posted as to how you are doing!! |

My goal is to gain 12 lbs. by the end of February. 14. Least Favorite Household Chore?: Anything that requires bottles to be sprayed, poured or squirted....and paper towels of course. 15. How did you find Calorie Count?: Needed t o find a site that would keep track of my calories for the day. Love the variety of food choices that come up in the search feature. 16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share? : I don't know how many friends I'll make on here seeing how my problem is a little different than the majority. But I guess the ultimate goal is the same: get to our desired weight in the healthiest way possible by being dedicated, motivated, and inspired to do whatever it is we need to do to make it happen! |

| Young Calorie Counters | Seventeen magazine has become a load of crap. | Jan 19 2008 00:26 (UTC) |

| As a mom of a teen who gets the magazine, I've noticed as well that the the models are portraying the exact thing that us moms are trying to eliminate: a bad image amoung young girls of what is "normal" and accepted. My daughter is a tall thin girl who will occassionally mention that she thinks her hips are big, butt is huge, etc. It's obvious that this comes from magazines, tv, and her peers. I know that the magazine's popularity & profitability is in showing young, skinny, high fashion models. And that's fine. But I think they need to help--not hurt--the growing low self esteem issue by representing the "typical" high school girl in "typical" settings. | |||
