hi guys! thank you all so so much for your replies and advice! it really helped! Update: i've just got back from his from dinner. When i got there i hadn't fully decided what i was going to do but i ended up talking to him. *sigh* im an idiot and true to form he was awesome. he wasnt in the slightest bit angry (he knows why im insecure - ive been out with some mean boys!) and said that he understands im under stress and that hes glad he said something. He said it was a response to his male colleagues comment to shut him up and i believe him. To be fair it was my first instinct anyway and we were friends for a long time before we started going out so i know hes not the kind of boy to be like " phwoaar look at her". We had a long chat and everythings fine. Ex-boyfriends always have alot to apologise to current boyfriends for me thinks! I cant stress enough how grateful i am for the responses - my flatmate is in mexico (eek) and i didnt know who else to talk to because i always talk to my fella when i have a problem lol! silly eh! xx |

I guess you're right guys...its nice to hear it from someone else though y'know? shaded - the guy he was talking to is TOTALY that kind of guy, but i didnt think my bf was like that and he normally doesn't comply just to "fit in" so ithink thats why it hurt more... i def thought the same as you when i first read it but now i just can't get it out of my head so its driving me a little nuts :S I also think i find it hard to deal with because im not happy with me and it just makes me feel threatened...which is daft as like i said i do trust him. meh its so hard to explain :( thank you for taking the time to reply though! x |

sorry i must have not read claires post properly in my fit of anger! lol thanks for that momma kitty - i entirely agree! i love this site and think its awesome that its free. i understand the marketing but im sure there are ways of monitoring the advertisments. With such large young population on here too i just don't think it makes any sense to allow them to see yet another scam to prise their money away from them and affect their mental well being!

I couldn't care less if they are bundled for ease of control, i agree they are completely inappropriate for the nature of this site. Take the the pink patch, metioned by the person who started this thread. It is quoted in this article as being dangerous: http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/health/news id_7452000/7452145.stm All i see is adverts for this all over this site. Even as i type this there is an advert for it at the bottom of the page. Numerous people are asking whether they should try it. This is ridiculous. If the people running this site cared at all about what they preach, then they should never allow this on the site. i want to know who we can contact about this. |

| Weight Loss | Pink Patch??? | Apr 23 2009 13:47 (UTC) |
|
Guys - come on! SO much wrong with this: 1) THERE IS NO QUICK FIX. 2) read the small print: "Results May Vary. For best results use as part of a low-calorie, low fat meal plan & exercise program." well if you limit what you eat and exercise then of course you'll loose weight!!! you can do that without paying them money! 3) Fast. we know that "fast weightloss" also means "fast regaining of pounds" afterwards. Anything thats advertised as a fast solution should make you run in the opposite direction. 4) if its too good to be true, it probably isnt.

Original Post by lillysmominpa: lune_ash i do eat well. i do exercise. i was only curious. but thanks for the positive, if not a little negatively assuming, feed back. LMAO. Sorry if i offended but im fed up of reading about people trying to find quick fixes and then complaining when they're scammed or pile the weight straight back on! pink patches, diet pills, special k diets, slimfast, its all the same! the only way to loose weight and keep it off and be healthy is to eat well and exercise!
Fair play for checking it out though! at least you were being sensible.. I think both of these people were being a little tetchy about good solid advice though!!!! |

If i deny myself all the time then i'll start cheating a little bit every day but if i have a day where i know i can be more relaxed i just keep telling myself to save it...!

My ex boyfriend told me that he found it hard to be intimate with me because i had gotten ''bigger''. Most upsetting thing anyone has ever said to me. I stayed with him for another year and a half but i never believed him again if he said i looked nice.. it was a downward spiral. My current boyfriend is so supportive though! He tells me i'm beautiful all the time and when i have down days hes really sweet... he keeps telling me if i want to loose weight to make me happy then he'll help me do it in anyway that he can (but that he can't see a problem and doesn't know what the fuss is about) hehe

Original Post by themomisabelle: Seems to me you're either not eating the right foods, not doing enough exercise or you're clearly in denial of the realistic amount that you're eating/exercising. If not then you just need patience...give your body time to get used to you treating it properly, keep going and eventually it'll pay off. theres no quick solution and what you look like isn't the issue anyway!!! you should aim to be healthy and the aesthetic advantages are just an added bonus/reward for looking after yourself.

| Weight Loss | maple syrup diet | Apr 22 2008 14:33 (UTC) |
|
This is a comment i just added to someones blog who i believe was also talking about this diet:: Is that what this is about the maple syrup diet by stanley burroughs? Funnily enough i was watching a programme about diets last night presented by natalie cassidy (who is an english actress who has battled with her weight and fad dieting for years but finally over came it the sensible way, i.e. healthy eating and exercise). I know alot of you are american but i *think* you might still be able to watch it on http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer its called Natalie Cassidy's Diet Secrets. In
it she tries this diet to see what it does to the body and gets really
ill. She also gives some history of the diet which is that it is 50
years old so not exactly a new concept. (ergo outdated thinking!? just putting it out there...) Also, Stanley Burroughs was
once convicted of manslaughter after illegally giving diet advice to a
patient who then died. Is this really someone you wanna take advice
from? You only get 300kcal a day on this which we know isn't enough to run the body. It causes fatigue, weakness, dizzyness, sallow skin, and palpitations amongst other things. Once Natalie scared herself so much she stopped the diet (whcih was only after 6 days mind) she piled the weight back on as her body was in starvation mode and it also regained its water weight instantly. Please don't do this. It's not condusive to weightloss in the long run and health is far more important. |

| Fitness | Does pilates really work? | Apr 08 2008 20:05 (UTC) |

" I was about to be worked up into a frenzy, but then I realized I wasn't 100% sure what you meant. When you say "in the same way", do you mean not as effectively? If that's the case, the frenzy will ensue. If you mean differently or possibly not as well, we're on the same page." I mean in a different way...weights use the resistance against the mass of what your lifting to strengthen your body, where as pilates relies on you holding your muscles in position for long periods whilst you stretch them! they're completely different methods! As for pregnancy, (i've not been pregnant either but i have 12 nieces/nephews so i've learnt a fair bit being around pregnant siblings(/in-law)), your not allowed to lift heavy objects or put your self under strain. Obviously you're back is under great strain towards the end of the pregnancy also so low impact forms of exercise such as swimming, pilates, yoga, gentle walks etc, are the best ways to exercise. pilates has the extra bonus of particularly looking at pelvic floor muscles which need to be strengthened to allow you to get through labour (and it makes them more resiliant afterwards, if you know what i'm saying). It also can strengthen the back and help your body deal with the extra weight and therefore ease some of the pain. Its low impact because alot of the exercises are performed on the floor on a mat and alot of the movements are small and slow. Weights can put your back under alot of pressure and potentially your joints if you put too much strain on them. Obviously alot of that can be due to incorrect technique though i realise that! |

Oh i wasn't talking about the bar method, i have no idea what that is - i'm guessing its not reached england yet (give it time we always copy americans eventually) but i had a quick look and it seems to me you might as well go and do some ballet?!! Anyway i wasn't having ago i just think that because of the sort of publicity it gets, people tend to write it off as a fad and ignore genuine benefits of it with out trying it - hence asking if you had! i think lifting weights is also important, but it won't strenghten your core muscles in the same way! and the main plus point of pilates really, is how low impact it is! a really good way of building up strength and support despite lots of back problems, pregnancy etc! |

have you two people actually tried it?! its not meant to be a replacement of cardio and a form of weightloss, its all about posture and support. celebrities always jump on the band wagon about their amazing skinny solutions and this one has just been mis publicised imo. it will certainly help your tummy look better because once you start standingup straight and actually use your tummy muscles rather than letting all your flab hang out of course you'll look trimmer.

I think the british have quiet a different attitude to drinking!! And i dont want any holier than thou replies of ''just don't get drunk''.
to my mind if you have a headache its the dehydration. drink lots of water! if you feel sick, be sick it will make you feel alot better if you feel queasy just eat some nice plain and sensible food...whole meal toast for example? "too will purposely not eat on days that i know i'm gonna be drinking a
lot, not only cuz i now that alcohol equals a lot of calories but also
cuz i get drunk faster lol."
