Motivation Help! I'm so unmotivated! Feb 11 2008

For me motivation comes and goes and I have to actively find new reasons to want to be in better shape. This time it's the fact that me and my friends are going to South Beach at the end of the summer. I can't be chubby in South Beach. I went to Vegas a couple years ago when I was overweigt and that stopped me from enjoying myself to the fullest. But not on this vacation.

skinnyorfat - in my experience WW has worked and all I did was watched what I ate. Specifically getting in all my fruits/veggies and drinking plenty of water. I didn't exercise at all but I dropped 30 lbs! Which springboarded (is that a word?) my love of exercising. I now feel confident in front of people at the gym eventhough I have 30 more lbs to go...

Happy Monday everyone!

Here are my stats for last week:

30 points for exercising and 30 for eating. I had one bad day for the week. Totalling 60 for this week. So, I'm at 115 points in this challenge.

SW: 158

Last week: 160

CW: 157

I'm off to a pretty slow start but I'm sure I'll gain momentum in a couple weeks.

I've tried natural diuretics before to help flush the water out. Try some of these. I got the info from www.everydiet.com:

The following foods and herbs are known to have diuretic properties:

  • Celery seed (and plant)
  • Parsley
  • Dandelion
  • Juniper berries
  • Asparagus
  • Artichoke
  • Watermelon
  • Watercress

emilytamara: Way to make a comeback! I'm sure one minor slip won't affect your progress.

This week has been awesome so far! Unless I consume 20,000 calories between now and Sunday night I should get my full amount of points. I hope this is a continuing trend. Keep trucking along everyone.

Good job to those who worked hard this past week!

Weigh-in this morning - 160.0 I friggin gained weight even though I worked out 6/7 days. So that's 30 points. As far as diet - I fell off the wagon two days so that's only 25 points. Totalling 55 for the week. I may have gained but I look more toned and I feel great for working as much as I did.

Hi everyone,

A little about me... I'm 31, living in Michigan and (158) "moderately overweight" sounds bad but that's down from "obese" just a year ago. I'm making slow progress but this will be the year I proudly wear a bikini.

I'm not confident enough to post a bikini pic, yet. But, I have bought one and it's on a hanger in my exercise room. I have been doing pretty great with exercising so far. I do 30-60 minutes of cardio everyday and 30 minutes of weights(alternating muscle groups). Since I live in Michigan it's not always easy to travel to the gym when a big snow storm hits. So, I got an elliptical trainer and some free weights for home. I'm taking on a no excuses approach this year. If I can't make it to the gym - I must exercise at home. Unfortunately, I think I've already lost the diet part because I'm an emotional eater and I let stress get the best of me this past Wednesday.

Have a great weekend everyone and I can't wait to find out who wins on Monday!

Hi,

I'm feeling the same way. My scale hasn't moved in a few days so it is hard to keep being motivated when your efforts aren't numerically noticeable. I think I'm going to have someone hide the scale for a week and just focus on how good I feel after I'm done exercising or after I've eaten a heathful meal.

BTW... keep up the good work and use this time to just enjoy the fact that you are healthier than you were last year.
