Hi

Asking for help if the first huge step, and whilst you sound desperate, I know that you must feel some relief also...just by sharing your thoughts. All of us have our own individual demons that have led us to be here on this site, but we all want the same thing...to be happy. I don't actually know what weight is my goal because I don't want to 'monitor' it, I want to 'feel' it.

I think you should do some relaxation exercises (whatever floats your boat, meditation, praying, yoga, walking the dog). Try and step outside of yourself and talk to yourself as if you were a stranger. What advice would you give? What compliments would you pay? I don't mean to sound like a hippy, but give it a go :-) Basically, try and stop fixating on the food and concentrate on who you are, what you feel and where you want be emotionally.

You've had some lovely posts to your thread, us humans can be so warm and giving, so take heart from all of us.

Big hugs xxx

Hi Redkitty

San Francisco sounds wonderful, I'd love to do a proper tour of the States one day. Poor you being over here, you must like rain or something :-)

Foods Brown rice: short-grain, long-grain? Feb 14 2008

Can't give a scientific answer (I'm blonde lol) but I used to go to Weight Watchers and they have recently changed from recommending any rice to just brown rice. They don't however, specify which type of brown.

I reckon that if you're working out regularly then long-grain would be ok cos it's carb based, and therefore will give you the energy needed to keep going. I personally try to avoid anything with fats in it.

So that would be what I would do. I didn't actually think about which brown rice to go for, so thanks for your post :-)

Take care and good luck

Hiya! :-)

I too am trying to conceive whilst losing weight/getting healthy. My idea is that I should make my body as 'baby ready' as I can and that includes shedding a few stone, cutting out the alcohol and giving up caffeine (headaches for a week but now ok). I think you're right to shed some pounds before conception as it gives you a good start..well done you! We forget how many babies come into this world by mistake and the fact that you are planning before he/she is here is commendable.

I have more weight to lose than you and have only just started, so it was nice to see your post...gave me some motivation that I'm not the only one.

Good luck honey
