There I was thinking: "how could this thread get any better?". And then I remembered that I crossed the Atlantic Ocean swimming in just under 1 hour and then this guy asked to join the fishing team. It was pretty cool. |

I'd totally recommend EA Active. You actually sweat, your HR goes way up, and it's still fun. |

I'm loving EA Active. I also used it with my HR monitor on. While the game said I had burned 200 calories, the HR monitor said 430. By the way I felt after the workout, I trust the HR monitor completely. |

There's a long Wii Fit thread somewhere in this forum. Lots to read there about this game. Have fun! |

| Fitness | Just purchased a treadmill... advice would be appreciated | May 20 2008 06:07 (UTC) |

Congratulations on getting the treadmill. That's great! My only advice, despite your specific questions (since I'm sure someone will answer them better than me), would be to make sure that you are consistent. I've seen so many people work out a lot the first week and then never get on their treadmill or bike ever again... |

At least according to what I know (which is very limited in this subject), shouldn't you start working out again guided by a professional (some sort of doctor)? |

Hi! I'm not sure how much of your post I can answer, but my advice would be for you to try to get measured by someone with lots of experience at it. I really don't think you could gain 3 inches just because you worked your abs for 2 weeks. Doesn't sound normal to me. I'm sure someone else will answer more of your post. Good luck! |

It is possible. There's great advice for fat loss on this forum. If you eat healthy (good bye saturated fats) and exercise regularly, your body fat will start going down. |

Nektr, Wind makes a huge difference! At times it's even worse than going uphill. So yes, you work out more while biking in the wind |

I'll add myself to the YES crowd. Not only is it a great way to burn calories, but it is also fun. But as has been said, you really have to push yourself. Climb hills, go down, climb the next one, repeat. |

Here is a bit from another webpage that reviewed a product based on this idea, but not for the Wii. "It's available with a choice of two saddles - a cushy wide one for
those who like to ride comfortably, and an ergonomic racing saddle for
those who are more accustomed to riding a road bike. But unlike
stationary bikes, the handlebars turn left and right, just as they do
on a regular bicycle. You can't raise or lower the handlebars, so
you'll have to ride in an upright position. A knob below the handlebars
controls a gear shift with (gasp!) 30 gears.

As jc343 suggested, as far as I know, this already exists. Of course not for the Wii, but what's the difference? Maybe you could clear that up so you can get better suggestions. Good luck! |

Of course not. Don't worry about it. Just get well and start your exercise again when you feel up to it. |

Hi! If you are trying to lose weight, abs are probably not the best way to go. Read around some of the threads in the fitness forum and you'll get a much better idea than I could give you. Good luck and welcome to the forums! |

Congrats on going back to the gym I've gone at almost any time possible and I think the best for me is in the evening. There's usually more people which is fun, and it's something I look forward to during the boring parts of the day. |

Wow! Great job. I ride a lot and can only get to a 12-13mph average. But I too love the feeling of getting back after riding for 1hr 30 mins and wanting to go out again. |

I've measured this and I remember answering this same question in some threads. Calories burned for an hour of DDR were around 300. |

Hi pooknood, congratulations on your progress! I would advice you to read some of the threads on this forum about burning fat. Sit-ups are not the best way, but there are lots of threads by people that know much more than me that can tell you what you should do. And keep up the good work! |

| Fitness | HR monitor vs CC burn meter | Feb 08 2008 13:00 (UTC) |
|
| I don't have other sources, but I have read on this forum that HR monitors are not really designed to be worn for long periods of time. They are accurate when measuring calories burned during exercise, but not during a whole day. | |||

| I've tested DDR with a HR monitor. Each song burns around 10 calories (some about 14, some about 8). For me, 1 hour of playing DDR burns 300 calories. | |||
