2.58 miles in 25 minutes. wow. It wasn't the easiest workout ever but wow, it feels great. That ends week 6 for me and I'm hoping to get week 7 done before Sunday and maybe crunching some of the last two weeks together because of the start of school! hope everyone is doing well! |

Week 6 DAY 2 TODAY! update: I did week 6, day 2 today and it was pretty good. Getting close to the end has rather got me thinking about next steps. I think, for me at least, I'm going to want to stick to doing a 5K and improving my time. I haven't done any cross training (strength training) during these first 6 weeks and so next week, I hope to incorporate a bit of that (core and legs, to start off). I'll be heading off to university in September so I really really want to finish the 30 minutes before I go but that means I have another 3 weeks to go (which doesn't work out XD) I guess we'll see. hope everyone's having fun with this!

Day 1 of Week 5 YAYAYAYAY! I was really happy with the workout today. To measure my time, I created my own podcast with my music and little "beeps" when I should run/walk and by accident, I ended up hitting the "next" button instead of the volume buttom on my mp3. needless to say, I freaked out and kept trying to find my original spot but I couldn't stop running and I think I ended up going for 8 minutes straight and the best part is, I knew I could do even more if I wanted. It was amazing and I think it really shows (to me, at least) the importance of the mind in a workout. Like, five minutes killed me but once I broke past that barrier, I was like "Hey, this is okay." and soon I began to really enjoy it. Pain, during exercise, to me is starting to become an obstacle rather than a side effect of a good workout. When I got to 8 minutes, I didn't feel any pain and my breathing wasn't messed up. I just felt like this is what I want to do and I kept going. I think now, more than ever, I'm starting to realize that it's not about weight loss or flattening that stomach. Weight can go and come back but to feel the way you do after you've fought against your own mind is just a whole new experience for me. (I'm sorry if this is a rant, but I guess the runner's high does that to you =P) I've heard people talk about this kind of stuff, read posts on the forums and it's nothing until you've experienced it yourself. Time to go eat something =) |

danaofdoom http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.s html it's at the bottom of this page, in a blue table. Hello all! I haven't been on this thread but I started Week 4 last Friday and I LOVED IT! I did it (which I didn't think I could do) but then... laziness got in the way. I will go running tomorrow however! Question: how do you guys keep yourself motivated? For me, it's always that if I miss workouts and get off track, I'll have to start all over again! |

I am in LOVELOVELOVE with peanut butter. Or I was until I had to make my mom stop buying it. Seriously, I could eat like 3 or 4 peanut butter and banana sandwiches in a sitting. At first, I used to buy it to "test" myself and for the first few days, I'd limit myself to one tbsp but by the end of the third day, the entire thing would be GONE. That, and cheesecake. |

When I had finally gotten the courage to not wear my large shirts and a slightly more fitting one, my aunt told me I had gained some weight. It was a complete crusher. I'm not overweight but I could stand to lose 10 lbs or so and tone up. But I find now that I welcome bad comments because it only motivates me. I stopped exercising for two months after the summer and was going completely downhill until one of my family friends admired my sister for being tall and skinny and told her that she'd need to find a model for a husband and then she looked at me and said "anyone will work for her!" I got so angry that I went home and just got back into the swing of things. I've lost a few inches around my legs and chest and there is no better feeling! |

I did p90X for a month and half and it was amazing :) I got really good results though they went as soon as I stopped exercising and began eating badly again. I'm trying to get back into it all again, though! Sorry to jump in with a question, but how often should one be working out with videos? I currently do 30 minutes of hard calisthenics about three times a week (maybe four if I feel ambitious). Is that good enough? |

Any links for a teen calorie counter? I can't seem to find a good one. That's actually really helpful. Thanks! The problem with exercise is that I really can't work out for more than 2-3 hours a week because of school. For weight training, how effective are resistance bands? I don't have access to dumbbells or a gym. Also, isn't it true that healthy weight loss occurs by losing fat and builidng/maintaining muscle mass? So if I eat enough for my body to maintain its muscle mass while still keeping a deficiet, is that safe and healthy? |

thanks for the replies, guys :) I'm guessing that home based workouts are the best option for me right now. The gym at school is available but never when I have time so I guess that's out of the question. I know what you mean about reprioritizing. I mean, education for me is the number one thing in life and I don't think I could ever sacrifice that but I'm going to try and see if I can work out before leaving for school in the morning. Anyways, thanks for your help! |

my clothes don't really fit any different and my measurements say I'm up in the stomach but down by like 0.25 inches in the arms and thighs (which isn't that much) I eat about 1500-1700 calories a day but on days with exercise, I add in a small 250 calorie meal after I work out as well and I exercise for 30 mins at least 3 times a week with circuit training (that's about 300 calories for 30 minutes since I really push myself) |

ah sorry, there was a typo in my original post. I increased it by about 600 calories. And as for eating 1800 calories, my doctor told me, but I find it really really hard to. Here's my current meal plan: b: a small bowl of cereal with 2% milk/or toasted cheese on bread with a glass of milk s: usually a serving of grapes/baby carrots/an apple l: an egg sandwich on whole wheat/cracked wheat bread with some sort of fruit/vegetable s: an apple dinner: a generally large-ish serving of vegetables (or a vegetarian sort of meal) with two small pieces of chicken I'm pretty sure that adds up to less than 1800 calories a day, but honeslty, I feel stuffed when I eat all that. I have the occasional raisins or a small biscuit here and there, but generally, I'm pretty full with a meal like this. Is there anything wrong with it? |

wow this is so familiar to me! trust me. I'm 5'3" and I weight 125 and I've been trying to lose 10 lbs. everyone keeps telling me that i'm not fat but I'm just not...thin. I really want to get fitter and flatten my belly and lose some fat off of my hips but it's really very hard! I made a resolution to lose this weight 3 months ago and since then I have fluctuated constantly but I guess the good thing is that I'm aware of the food I now eat. I think dinner binging is the thing that always kills me. but it's great to know that i'm not alone :) |

Gaining weight doesn't necessarily mean you're getting unfitter. To me, it sounds like your diet and exercise are great. I think your weight gain is due to the fact that you're building muscle which weighs more but is much healthier than fat.
