Thank you all, individually and collectively you have been a huge help. Thank you for your kind words as well. A different routine would probably be a big help, unfortunately my gym doesn't offer any classes or group activities. They call themselves a fitness center and they are bare bones. But they are close to me and convenient. I'm a guy so that rules out Curves and another place close by. I am going to have to look harder, there has to be something else. I think your right dls337 I need something other then a "mind-numbing stint on the elliptical machine". tammy_180 I'm going to take you up on the buddy offer and I’m going to actively pursue others. This has been a very personal journey for me so far. My wife has been moderately supportive, I am not comfortable talking about it to most of my coworkers and my true friends are 200 miles away and I see them 1-2 times a year. Which was fun being 40 pounds lighter then last time I saw them. I think I am going to look into the groups here on CC, maybe one will fit my needs or I'll start my own. |

I love the food network, I used to watch it all the time. I will check out thier web sight more I only go there for recipes of things I see on shows I did not know they have a low cal section. Thanks |

| I would also talk to your doctor about the Chantix, the weight gain may be a side effect of that. I googled it and there were quite a few hits about weight gain and Chantix. If that is the case get off the smokes first (watching what you're eating) then drop the weight later. | |||

Thanks for your help. Maybe I will try more calories, I think that is what I expected to hear. It is just tough, it goes against everything I've ever heard about dieting, but it does make sence when you hear the science behind it. And I will have to check out that book dd. |
