Vegetarian Anyone ever heard/read of the book Skinny Bitch? Aug 29 2008

The girls who wrote Skinny Bitch are tacky, and try way to hard. If one of them was my wife/girlfriend/daughter, I would be so embarassed.
The cookbook isn't anything special either.

Foods For the love of cereal..... lol Aug 28 2008

I LOVE cereal. I could eat it at every meal.
My favourite way to have it is to mix 2 or 3 together(usually 3, lets be honest) and then put in enough soy milk so that the cereal soaks it up but there is none left over. And I have to have some sort of fruit in it.

I am currently obsessed with the rice krispie/fibre one/banana/raspberry combo.

Foods Could you live without meat? Jul 29 2008

I could, and I do.

I think meat is disgusting. Nothing about it appeals to me. I have been vegetarian for 4 years and haven't had a craving for it at all.\

Bonus about not eating meat, I can't eat at fast food restaurants(unless I bought a salad, and why would I do that?)

Foods I need healthy alternatives Jul 09 2008

Skippy Peanut butter - natural pb, or almond butter

Salad Dressing - balsamic vinegar(only 5cals, 0g fat per tbsp) and salt.

Sara Lee Wheat Bread - spelt, pumpernickel or yeast free bread

Life Cereal - natures path

Cheese - buffalo mozzarella

I would of indulged more, but I am a vegetarian attempting to go vegan so my choices were extra limited.

Whenever you're going seems fabulous! All three sound delicious. I personally would probably choose the nature burger(the avocado salsa is doing it for me) or the buddha bowl!

It's funny because we're actually going to a pub that has a healthy options section. So one half of the menu is all deep friend and the other half is all organic, vegan, glueten free, free range meat choices. They even have a spelt carrot cake with tofu cream cheese icing for desert!(which is exciting for me, haha)

Thanks for the b-day wishes. It's not until Sunday, but I'll be 21. Woo!

Weight Loss any binge eaters out there? Apr 30 2008

I am a binge eater. Last weekend I went to stay at my best friends house for the night because we hadn't seen each other in a while. I had ate well all day until we went out for dinner and had artichoke and asiago dip, margaritas, some super fatty oriental salad, and the last bits of her veggie burger and fries. From the time we got back to her house until I got home the next night I had 1 bag of doritos(to myself), a chocolate chip cookie, 2 chocolate chip muffins, a bagel and cream cheese, 2 mini coconut cakes, 15 ginger snap cookies, a pear, tostitos and spinach dip, 1/2 medium dominos pizza, naan with chocolate icing and cookies.
All to myself. For no reason. I find once I start eating something remotely "bad" something clicks in my head and I can't stop.
If you saw me you wouldn't even think I could fit all of that food into my body either.

Foods How often do you eat dessert/get take-out? Apr 28 2008

I eat out waaaay to much. That's the downside of living downtown I guess.
I don't go to fast food chains though. It's usually sushi, thai or vegan restaurants.

I rarely eat dessert. I was never raised eating it, so I never want it.

Foods starbucks workers, i have a question for you.. Apr 24 2008

Iced coffee is no the same as a frappacino, or a brewed coffee blended with ice. Starbucks uses a special blend of coffee where you brew a full batch on 1/2 batch, so it is extremely strong. The rest of the container it's kept in is filled to the top with cold water, hence, iced coffee. It has classic syrup in it because of how strong the coffee is. You can ask for it 1/2 sweet or unsweetened.

Eggbeaters creep me out.

Defientely ride your bike!
I ride mine to and from work everyday, and love it. It takes me 20 minutes each way.
It will improve your cardio SO much, and you'll have great looking legs. Don't worry about coming into work sweaty, just go to the washroom right away to freshen up. I cool down in 5-10 minutes.

I ride english, and do eventing and show jumping.
It really depends on how hard you are training for what you do, and how advanced you are. I have been riding for 13 years, and because of my experience and needing to train for 3 different activities, I rarely ride for leisure. It is always moderate to intense. I find that I maintain my weight and have great muscle tone because of riding, I can't say it would help anyone lose alot of weight.

Is it too much soy to be consuming in a day. I'm not sure if it's pointless to mix soy with soy...
It doesn't say I can mix it with water on the side of the package, but I guess I could try.

I remember my Dad telling me about an odd experience he had while on a business trip in the south. I don't know what state he was in, but the only place to stop and get coffee was McDonalds(ugh). He asked for milk in his coffee, but kept telling him they only put in cream. Eventually they gave him the option of BUYING a kid size milk so he could add it himself. Ha!

Fitness Why I love my gym Apr 17 2008

I love my gym because it's right downtown and 10 minutes from my work, 4 stories, has two weight rooms, tons of machines, two pools, an outdoor track on the roof, an indoor track, a whole floor dedicated to squah courts, about 20 different classes, two indoor gyms and really clean locker rooms. All the instructors that I have met are very nice. None of the members really talk to each other, but I overheard an employee tell someone that they have over 12,000 members, so you don't see alot of the same people I guess. Everyone that goes there is very courteous though, no creepy guys(possibly because it is mostly gay men).

Only Canadian like Tim Hortons.  People from other countries who are used to "real" coffee (i.e. espresso) think T.H. coffee tastes like watered down instant!

Did you actually just say that? You're making it sound like you're from Europe, and you are only from the states. Obviously Canada has espresso. In downtown Toronto there are more independent coffee shops and Starbucks then Tim Hortons. And sorry to say, the US has Dunkin Donuts which is just as bad.

Tim's coffee is so weak, and tastes like water.
Everyone should spend the extra dollar for some quality coffee, or a yummy latte.

I mix my morning shake with 1/2 banana, strawberries and flaxseed. I have fruit or vegetables with my lunch shake.  My snacks are yogurt with almonds.

My question isn't asking if 2 shakes a day is ok.

Foods Any Super Picky Eaters/People with lots of food issues out there? Apr 09 2008

I used to be a very picky eater, but when I became vegetarian I realized that doesn't really work. I forced myself to eat alot of veggies until I liked them. And even though there are some I still hate(like cucumber), I eat them anyways.

I always get stuck eating the same foods for a while, though. I don't know why. For the past two weeks I have been eating the same breakfast and lunch.
