i think of the seedsas being more like pomagranet seeds... too small to do anything more than swollow. Theyre not poisenous or anything. I do recomend you use tong to gather the fruits and then take them home and use a stove burner to burn the thorns off. You can use a lighter or something but its much harder lol. Then cut top and bottom and slit up the side, or cut into quarters. They are really yummy... and make a great sorbet if you cook them, strain thru a cheesecloth (and squeeze! get all the juice!) and put in an ice cream amker with a bit of sugar and lemon juice. YUUUMMMY! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How do I get sleep? | Apr 17 2009 16:33 (UTC) |

i wish i could remember the name of the book my grandmother-in-law gave me... tho i started that right away... my baby (who is now 3 1/2) was up 2 hours then down 2 hours all day then (supposed to be) slept 4 hours at a stretch at night... most nights he was actually awake every 1-3 hours, til i switched him to formula at 6 months. The book recomended feeding the baby before bed, then an hour later (i think) while the baby was still sleeping trying to get them to power feed (while somehow staying asleep) where they fill theyre belly again.. this was supposed to get them to sleep all night... didnt work for me tho lol. I was lucky that til about 6 months he followed this pretty well (other than at night) so i could get a 2 hour nap in several times a day. That being said... do you have a friend or family member that could come by once a day (or several that could) and let you get in a nap? I wish i had had someone to do that for me... i even had my mom and then my mother-in-law visiting during the first 4 months and still didnt get a nap in really (more often with my mom then MIL... she kinda scared me lol) If i had gotten more sleep maybe id remember more of my sons infant stage :( |

Try to eat them really slowly... i found that alot of "low-fat" "healthier" options taste much worse when you really take the time to really taste them, really chemically. When i want chocolate i just buy the best chocolate i can get my hands on and eat a small piece (im lucky to be sated with one little piece) and let tiny bites melt in my mouth.... oh n my favorite chocolate "dessert" is dried apricots dipped in dark chocolate... amazing! 3 of em for like 75 calories ( i get the halved pited dried apricots) |

So the weekend is comming up. How does everyone plan to get thru it? We are going camping at a wonderful natural hotspring (ill post pics when we get back!) and while dinner will be steaks and fire roasted corn and there will be a bit of extra drinking, breakfast will be yogurt and fruit (as well as snacks), and lunch will be sandwiches on whole grain breads (no mayo) (and it is only about a day of camping early afternoon to late morning). And LOTS of water. This hotspring is in the California desert and its closing in on 100 degrees already! Fortunatly there are palms shading the water (93 degree water!) So i dont have to worry about the heat too much. We have exactly 14 days til i move up to my parents house, so i have been busy packing and trying to empty the freezer (and pantry a bit too), so havnt been eating the healthiest, but im trying to keep the amounts i eat smaller and i do still eat if im really hungry (yay for my precut veggies!) Right now i dont care if i lose weight, i just dont want to gain!after im at my parents house and im not trying to get rid of this surplus food i will re-focus on healthier eating. (lol i didnt plan on moving when i bought the extra corned beefs last month, or the pork shoulder i bought for pulled pork before that... kinda got deciding to buy a house as a surprise!) So how is everyone else? |

I dont have 100 lbs to go... but im not far from it! (80-90 to reach my goal of 160ish). I dont have a scale right now (my bf threw it out accidently), and im going to go live at my parents non-internet accessable house while we save to put a down on buying a house (2 months or so). So i have some hard times comming! lol But i will be doing 80% of the cooking (im a healthy cook, just lazy) and leaving some items out of my shopping trip so i have to walk the mile to the grocery store (i dont drive... long story lol). I will be logging in at the library (hopefully weekly) and i will be buying a scale within the month (tho i prefer to use my clothes as a better judge of weight loss). |

| LOL well i have 2 weights for my Grad weight. I graduated early (in january) and weight 135, which is actually too skinny on me. I have a large chest, and broad hips, sl for my arms n legs to be that thin isnt nice lol. But when i walked (in June) i was 160, a much better looking weight for me (and as quickly as i put it on alot more natural). Now im 240... so ive got about 80 lbs to go.. tho for now ill settle for under 200. | |||

this isnt really seasoning... but if you happen to have breadcrumbs, ham, and swiss around... make them cordon bleu style. Layer them with a slice of ham and a slice of swiss, roll, secure with toothpicks. Dip in an egg wash and roll in breadcrumbs. Bake like 350-375 for 20-30 min (til turkey is cooked thru and cheese is melted). YUM! |

hehe i found you! just touching bases. my friend and i have been walking the mall a few times a week, lately.. or trying to, shes been sick alot lately too. So we do about 2 hours there (pushing my 3 yo) (maybe sharing a pretzel between the 3 of us :P) and i do about 30 min around my apt complex, we have ALOT of stairs and i try to take em 2 at a time to get that lunge effect. For dinner tonight im making "chicken parm" (pan seared chicken breast coated in herbs) over smart pasta. So who is having a super bowl party? We're going to have a few friends over, and ill TRY to keep the eating fairly healthy... (but w wings n sub sandwiches, n chips, n chili, n corn bread) it wont be easy. I will put out a big platter of veggies and fruit to fill up on. But im going to enjoy a margarita or 3 LOL (n we got grandpa to watch the lil one for the day :D) |

i think your oven should have a broil option. look on the dial for the oven, it should say broil (or broiler) on it. if it is a gas oven it will broil in a draw under the oven. If it is electric it will broil in the oven, put the snadwich on the top rack. as to counting the calories it would be best to enter each item seperatly, than to try to find a simmilar sandwich. |

preheat takes about 10 min, but to taost a sub it would be best to broil the cheese and meat, not bake it. Broiling (which is what they do at the sub shops)will get the cheese melt-y and a little brown, while baking would just heat everything up (and take longer). Good luck! hope it tastes great!

i love balsamic vinegar with thyme and lots of garlic.... sooo good! i like it best on thighs, but it works really well on breasts too. Or lime juice and cumin is great. Or apricot preserves thinned out with a bit of lemon juice. really chicken breast is a blank canvas, just pull out a jar of spice and try it. Cinnamon can be interesting. Or curry powder. Or mmm peanut butter with yogurt and curry to marinade and then its like indian street food (satay)(just slice, marinade, thread on skewers, and grill) |
