| Young Calorie Counters | Does anyone want tto start a group for college kids who have been overweight most of their lives? | Mar 10 2009 21:49 (UTC) |

this is exactly the group i was look for on cc. it's hard to find people around the same age dealing with similar weight issues, especially ones who are open about it. 20 5'8''/5'9'' SW: 291 CW: 242 GW: 165-175 i'm in college and i'm finally in this for the right reasons, for my health and my own well being. i realized recently that i make excuses for myself and my horrible eating habits. Being an art student, i spend way more time on campus and working on projects than most college students. The fast food lover in me uses this as an excuse to 'not have time to grocery shop or cook' and to make numerous taco bell runs at 4am on the way home. Most admit though that it is hard to keep healthy and especially fresh food like salad stuff around when you live alone. I need to find a good way to keep my diet regular and yet not always the same even when my sleep and work schedule aren't regular. exercising is a whole other situation. i was a swimmer for years, i loved it, but it just reinforced that fat kid feeling, the spandexness and all : P. i live in a town where there are about 20,000 college kids. Only 8,000 on campus. i've gotten over the self consciousness in most everyday activities, but when i think about the rec center or going for a run around all the apartment complexes, it's just one big fat kid panic attack just waiting to happen! Oh and i smoke a pack a day, my excuse for that is i work around hazards for lungs everyday, that and i would spaz on people if i didn't. i also don't know to ride a bike, which is more than embarassing in a college town, there's no where to learn! i turn 21 in the middle of june and i'd love to be under 200 by then, i know that's probably unrealistic but about 210 would be great! any tips or advice would be great! thanks for starting this group/chat kat |

| Weight Loss | All those still interested in losing 100 lbs join me. | May 03 2008 06:32 (UTC) |

I'm 19, almost 20, 5'9", 287 pounds, and I need to loose at least 130 pounds. I'm a college student, and the lifestyle and the food choices are killing me. I have very high blood pressure (I did even 100 pounds ago), and I need to take care of it. I tried this at the start of January, and was doing fine for about a month, but then life caught up to me, and so did all of my classes (art major), and not sleeping. I need help. Kat |

| Foods | Something about a cake thats only 220 calories seems a little suspicious to me... | Feb 11 2008 07:08 (UTC) |

while i'm trying to be really good and not eat too many sweets, i've found, when i'm just craving chocolate, the best thing is Betty Crocker Warm Delights Minis. it's chocolate cake powder you mix with water that microwaves in 30 seconds and comes with chocolate or caramel topping (caramels' the only one i've tried.) they come in 2 packs. THEY ARE ONLY 150 calories each cake. They are small - but even me, a total binge eater, is satisfied with just one. (and even if you eat both it's only 300 calories so it doesn't ruin your day) and they're yummy! |

| Foods | 1700 Caloric intake...i never reach it. is that bad? | Feb 11 2008 04:09 (UTC) |

You need to be eating 1200 calories a day or more, otherwise your system will start holding on to everything it gets, it will go into starvation mode. Try healthy fats like avocados, or naturally sugary food like fruit. they tell me my calorie intake should be 1750, i'm usually under or around 1500 but i always make sure i'm over 1200. and you'll feel much better if your eating over 1200 calories and eating healthy food. |

| Young Calorie Counters | **Post here to find a weight loss buddy!** | Jan 24 2008 09:05 (UTC) |

hey everybody, I'm 19 years old, 5'8'' or 5'9'', and i'm getting close to 300 pounds.... last time i was at the doctor it was 280something. I'm a college student with a limited budget and a limited amount of time. I'd like to be down to 160 by Aug. 2009. I'd be happy with 180, that's what i was when i was 14 or so. I'd like a buddy because it's really hard for me to stay on track while i'm stressed out. I also live with my boyfriend, who could eat anything and everything (and he does) and not gain an ounce, he tries to be supportive, but he just doesn't get it. I also have a tendency to eat late at night and bad food (especially Taco Bell-my weakness). my new years resolution is to only have taco bell every 2 weeks to once a month, and to work out this summer while i'm home. it's almost impossible to eat the food on campus and not gain weight! i lost 35 pounds a few years ago, so i know i'm capable, it's just a matter of doing it! any help would be appreciated, thanks Kat |
