Foods restaurant you hate that everyone loves? Oct 13 2009

I happen to work in a mall that has an old country buffet.  It is otherwise known as the Trough.  I think it says it all.  If you look around at the customer base there you can almost invision them with a Pig Nose and grunting with every bite.

Motivation 1st 10lbs down! Aug 24 2009

Congrats!  I like the way you state your weight as "down".  So many call it weight lost.  In perspective- If you loose something, you want it back... If you give it away or put it down, it's gone forever.  The first 10 is the hardest to put down.  Changing your food choices, and lifestyle is difficult.  You are on the right path to a positive change forever.  One day at a time, one pound at a time.  With every pound down it will get easier to move, breathe, and live the life you deserve.

When putting things out into the universe, be careful what you say.  A better way to state it is:  I gave back 20 pounds.  If you lost something.. you want it back.  To give away.. MEANS IT'S GONE FOREVER".

Foods Needing advice on replacing sugar and sugar substitutes! Jan 06 2009

From what little I know about your diet, it looks like you are trying to starve your body to be able to loose weight.  I am currious how you expect to build muscle and give yourself enough energy to train.  You need to increase your calorie consuption.  Keep in mind that I am not saying empty calorie consuption, since you are training and very concious about how you work your body, you need to be very concious on how you fuel it as well.  Atificial sweeteners are litterally processed poison.  If you want to sweeten, try adding real fruit juice or honey to your foods.   Once you "get off" the sugar (think of it like a drug), you will discover that if you occasionally indulge, you will truely taste how much sugar is in the foods you think need more sweet.  It's truely amazing.

Vegetarian The book "Skinny Bitch" Dec 21 2008

It seems everyone I talk to about my change in diet... I went Vegen about 6 months ago, the first thing that they talk about is Skinny Bitch.  It was not the reason I made the change, but I hope that it is empowering people with knowlege and to make the change for themselves.  I love the fact that it is a short and easy to read book that even people with not much time can get the knowlege to make the change too.  Go Bitches!  Take over the world.

Destroying the product is the absolute worst way to try to prove your point.  Stop and think.  The store owners are going to have to replace the product in the store that was damaged.  When product is damaged, their insurance company gets a call.  The store gets paid/reimbursed to replace the product.  This means more animals are going to be harmed and sold.  The best way to protest the product is to not buy it and encourage others not to buy it as well.  It's basic supply and demand.

So you have made the choice to be a vegetarian.  Why would you want to even "Fake yourself out" with a processed look alike to meat?  Would this not make you brain think you are eating meat?  Why give your brain the opportunity?  Since I have made the switch, I have found that there are so many options for healthy choices that I get to eat and I look forward to trying it all. Don't look at it as what you have lost (and are trying to have)... look at it as an opportunity to try so many new things (that won't make you sick).

I believe we as Vegans and Vegetarians are looking for healthy alternatives to the garbage that the food industry has marketed as "good for you".   White flour is processed crap.  Whole wheat flour tastes better and is better for you.

I've got another book to ad to the list:  Skinny Bitch. by Rory Freedman and Kim Barbouin.   It's great if you can handle the way they 'talk'.  Personally I feel it is entertaining as well as a good read.  We had a Bitchin Birthday theme for a friend!

Weight Loss i am menstruating! Feb 10 2008

I am on the other end of the spectrum.  I am 37 and have had my tubes tied when I was 25.  At this point it seem to be going into Perimenapause because of it.  Typically the women in my family have a period until they are 50.  I seem to have my period about every 3 weeks now, but it has gone from 7 days to 4-5 and less painfull.  I used to have to stay in bed for at least 1 day (heavily medicated).  Each time I seem to gain about 3 pounds, but I drop it right after (with no effort).  As far as appitite--2 days prior I could go the day without eating anything but chocolate and salt .  My stomach feels like a bottomless pit by day 2-3 my appitite goes back to normal till the end.  I just avoid the scale during this time it will only frustrate.  I don't believe you use anymore colories than normal.  It is not like you are "duing anything".  In fact for me physically I do less excercising and activities.  I just wish I could not have to go through it at all.  I can't wait.
