Hey ladies! Just checking in... life has been busy as usual and I haven't been keeping up with y'all :( BUT... congrats to my old home girls DALMA, WATCHME and ALLY!!! You guys are rockin' your goals! Ally you are looking hott, girl!!! I love the new pics! I hope everyone has a great week. I'm going crazy finishing up my summer classes and trying to keep the hubby occupied while he's healing. It's been fun having him home, but I'm not used to it and sometimes we both go a little crazy! I need to get in here more... I miss you guys!!!! |

aw, thanks guys! I'm happy to be back! Watchme, You are looking so fab and I can see such a difference in your attitude! I read back several pages and you seem so much more positive and you are such a great encourager! I know you're having some issues with you scale not wanting to budge, but I can see such a difference in you!!!! Yeah!!! Dalma, you're too sweet! Way to go with the 16s!!! That's so awesome! And I agree, sizing is nuts. I weigh 173 right now and fit in mostly 10s and some 12s. I weighed the same in highschool and fit a 12 perfectly, no thought of 10s. Wannabe, I have never actually done a specific low carb diet, but I do eat fairly low carb in general... unless I'm craving pasta! ;) Just remember that to come up with the total amount of carbs eaten you should subtract the number of grams of dietary fiber you ate for the day. ie, you ate 50 grams of carbs and 20 grams of protein, therefore your net carbs is 30 grams. |

hey ladies!!! I know it's been a long, long time since I've been on here... life has been crazy and I couldn't sign on... technical difficulties that turned out to be not so difficult. I haven't read very far back, but it's good to see some of you are still here and achieving you goals!!!! I am still losing weight, though not as fast as I was before b/c I was being less conscious about it and letting life get in the way. But I'm back on the wagon!!!! I'm now 173 and feeling great!!! I can't get my new pic to center differently, so you'll just have to check out the full size, if you want :) I'm back to being fully committed and am looking fwd to talking to some old friends! I might not be around too much, but I'll be here nonetheless. Hugs to you all! |

Wow, it's been a crazy loooooong time since I've been on here! I've been dealing with finals and lots and lots of friend drama including a broken engagement that was pretty shocking and devastating for all involved. Ugh. Anyways, I'm not even going to pretend that I have been able to read everything, so I hope you all are doing well! I've been doing some stress eating, but haven't gained any weight, so that's good. Hopefully I'll have some time to catch up on things soon! Hugs to you all! |

hey feddie, I use some of Hungry Girl's recipes and I like them. But I also really like tofu and veggie burgers...and so does my hubby. I have made some of them with regular meat options though and they are just as good- ok, maybe better, lol- and still very healthy... just use lean cuts. Also, I HATE rice/soy/almond milk so I don't use that in them either.... although I'm sure you can't really taste it in cooking, I just don't ever buy it. I, also, think the cookbook looks awesome but haven't bought it yet... you'll have to let me know what you think of it if you buy it! |

watchme: I make my own soups- that way I can control the sodium. It doesn't take very long to make them and they taste great. I often use the low sodium chicken broth as a base. I also add benefiber to it to boost the fiber. You don't taste or feel it. You can make big batches and freeze it in individual portions. Laughing cow cheese is awesome with soy dippers! Welcome new members! |

this place has been slower and I still can't keep up! I am full swing into studying for finals and haven't had much time for anything else. I also have a raging sinus infection.. so much fun! lol. Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you to Ali for the soup recipe! I totally plan on making that up... i think it might do my sinuses some good too. and Ally, we will be moving from Oregon to Louisiana. We lived in Louisiana once before and I'm not looking forward to going back to the heat and humidity, but that's ok. My hubby is gone a lot anyways- last year he was out of town 230 days- so I'm actually happy about this new job b/c he'll make twice as much and only work 180 days a year. And he'll actually have a schedule- 6 wks on/6 wks off- so we can schedule things and travel. Currently we don't schedule anything b/c he always winds up being gone last minute. The Louisiana move is temporary... should be there about 2 years before we make our big move across the pond to Scotland. On green tea: adding a couple tablespoons of any kind of citrus juice. They work synergistically to create 5 times more cancer fighting catechins! Congrats to everyone that is seeing progress! And welcome to the new members! |

Hey ladies! Welcome to all the new members! Honestly, I can never catch up around here anymore! lol. I'm dealing with finals and trying to get an new copy of my certificate of citizenship (i'm adopted) which is a lot harder than it sounds. After 30 minutes of automated machines I'm always getting transfered to a Spanish speaking person who I can't understand and they can't understand me and then they tell me they can't hear me and to please call back... click. And the vicious circle starts again. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Lol. Also, my hubby just just broke into saturation diving (which is an awesome and fabulously huge step up in his career!) and he will be going to China all summer. When he gets home, we'll be moving. He's now one of the youngest sat divers in the world! I'm just a little proud :) And in happy news, my size 10 chinos from Gap fit really nicely! Granted, they are cut more generously than size 10 jeans, but I'm thrilled regardless! Hope you all have a fabulous wkend! |

hey ladies! Things have been super crazy and busy over here, but I wanted to stop in. No way I can attempt to catch up, but I'm happy to see that everyone is doing so well! I also wanted to say that if any of you PCOSers are having problems with hair loss/thinning, you might try taking Biotin. I take a million supplements and I added it a few wks ago and I think it's actually helping. Hope you all have a wonderful wkend! |

i made my own popsicles today... man are they yummy! I made two flavors. One with strawberries and kiwi and the other with mangos, cantaloup and pineapple. I cut up the fruits and pureed them in my food processor with a little bit of V8 fruit juice and a little bit of simple syrup (one part sugar and one part water... i figured I'd just use real sugar so it would satisfy the sugar crave) and some benefiber, which you can't taste or feel and then threw the mix in my molds. They are SO good and I feel great b/c I'm getting at least one serving of fruit in each of them if not more and they are low in sugar and high in fiber. Green tea is also chock full of antioxidants which help reduce free radicals in your body. I drink a cup every single day with breakfast. Edited to add nutrition info for popsicles (as calculated by CC recipe maker): 99 calories, No fat, no cholesterol, very low sodium, low carb (good carbs from fruit, yay!) and 5.5 grams of fiber! Great evening snack! |

watchme: I just eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruits and nice lean proteins. I'm not really drawn to carbs so I naturally eat a fairly low carb diet as well. I don't eat much processed food and I use seasonings and spices that don't have added salt. |

someone asked about sodium the other day (sorry can't remember who) and I just wanted to say that the 2400 mg a day is for a 2200/day calorie diet. Since I eat around 1200-1500 cals/day I have to adjust this. I try to have less than 1000 mg sodium every day which is a little on the low side but really helps me not have bad water retention. Of course, some days that just doesn't happen, but it's my daily goal. |

Ali is 100% right. The only way any of us are going to do this... I mean really do this... is to be completely resolved with every fiber of our being that we are capable and willing to stick with it and see it through. We can support each other and try to motivate each other, but ultimately the strength comes from within. Of course there's going to be rough patches, but you just have to keep that resolve and know that you possess the power to fight through it. We are the only ones that can make this decision for ourselves. |

sweepie: I eat quaker weight control oatmeal. I love it! it's higher in fiber and protein than regular oatmeal and lower in sugar. When I don't want that kind I love some good thick steel cut oats... i get mine from Bob's Red Mill, which is local to me but is also sold in stores all over the place. trina: it was really hard for me to eat so often during the day too. Ease yourself into it with small snacks and eventually you'll get used to it. You won't go into starvation mode that quickly. good luck with the SIL and family! |

Original Post by watchmeshine82: holy crap! you gotta do it!!!! I only got 1 hour of free personal training and I pay $44/mo. I was going to have to pay $57 but then the lady entering it in let me go second tier instead of third... yay! So, yeah, Watchme, you HAVE to join... no question! :D And the water drinking gets easier. At first you feel like you're going to drown or die from going to the bathroom so much, but then you get used to it. I drink a gallon+ a day and I can tell when i drink less now. Good luck! |

Happy Friday ladies! Welcome Sweepie: It sounds like your heart and motivation is in the right place! Congrats on the weight loss so far! Hilwe: Woohoo!!!! Way to go on the big numbers last month!! Don't be scared, the first months usually have bigger numbers and then it might slow down a little... but it sure is great to see big numbers for awhile! I do zig zag my calories and until I hit my plateau it seemed to be a good thing. Yessica: That's so awesome about your extra 3.5 pounds!! You so close to 200, I bet you can taste it! Congrats! Bzb: I'm in love with Chopper Bean! What a cutie. And I think you look wonderful, the wrap dress is definitely a good look for you! Hope everyone has a great wkend! |

wow! It's busy in here this morning!!! Ok, that and it's pretty much not even morning anymore.... haha. Welcome to all the new members! I love how this forum is continually getting new members... and I love how busy it is! First, Watchme, DON'T feel bad about the scale not budging for a few weeks... mine hasn't moved in 5 wks. Our bodies are going to hit plateaus, we just have to stay positive and know that we're going to get through them! Keep doing what you're doing... change things up a little... and know that your body will catch up! Big Hugs!!! Trina: On eating out... you can almost always find something healthy at restaurants. Like Ally said, the trick is tweaking it a little. If you choose a salad, don't put croutons or bacon bits on it... go light on the eggs (if you need to watch your cholesterol) and put your dressing on the side. Dip your fork in the dressing and then stab some salad... this makes you use far less dressing. Even places like Olive Garden will bring the dressing on the side. DO put sunflower seeds on it as they are a great source of monounsaturated fat. If you're having a burger, chose a turkey burger and ask for it to be cooked in olive oil instead of regular oil or butter. Anything that is pan fried as for it to not be cooked in butter. This can drop as many as 500 calories from a meal! Sandwiches are almost always great b/c they have everything, just ask for it without the mayo- or have light mayo- and be careful about the cheese. If you want pasta, stay away from the white sauces which are heavy in cream and butter... instead go for a red sauce. And you can always ask for just half your meal to be brought out and have the other half packaged to take home. I do that all the time. Good luck and I hope you have something delicious for lunch!!! On society's biases.... I hate how a fat guy is completely accepted but overweight women are scorned. stupid double standard. |

ali: congrats on the smaller pants! you rock! see? you can't be doing all too terribly! safa: ebay is a b****. lol. I, also, consider myself computer/internet savvy... but ebay is not regular internet! haha. I'm kind of OCD/Type A about things so I have everything written up in word and I'm making sure everything is "just so" before I post it... hence, making it harder than it is. on sizing: that's a b**** too! (I think I may have woken up on the wrong side of the bed... could have something to do with my dryer being stupid and the repair man being stupid and.... blah. lol) But the sun is shining and as soon the guy is done ruining my house I'm going to go for a walk in the beautiful sunshine! I think I need some sunlight therapy! |

sonini: i got a brazillian in january. the pain wasn't horrible and it was really something I thought I would continue doing... until I had a bad reaction to the wax that night and broke out down there! That was SO painful and itchy and horrible for almost a week. So much for hot brazillian waxed sex! but as far as being a certain weight to do it, it's great as a reward, but the girl before me was probably around 250 and the lady doing it definitely looked like she was over 300. That made me feel a whole lot better. perskii: welcome! there are a lot of use in here that have 50-80 pounds to lose... like suzanne said, it's more of a concept. Really, we just want to create a healthy and supportive and FUN environment! watchme: I'm off to read your post! Oh and kick boxing is tough, but it's really not so bad. It's definitely a workout though! I think you should give it a try! I love it and think it's super fun. I'm trying to figure out ebay today. I have tons of unopened beauty products that I want to get rid of as well as some clothes. I have a friend who is helping me from long distance, but I think I'm making it harder than it is.... lol. |
