CHeck out Feet Fleet in Montclair- they were great and really helped me get my running shoes (Asics Gel Nimbus 9 for narrow feet and high arches!)

They are a chain store and have a website if you care to check it out online.

Thank you rgliptak, I'll try this at home (at work right now!)  I THOUGHT it may be my hip flexor, but was very unsure...

Livetolove...I ran through it and ended up with a very sore hip :(  Hope yours feels better soon.

Mine seems high too and I have the Polar F6.

My max was 182 and average was 170.  I'm 26, 5'3" 127 lbs.  My calories burned after jogging/walking 35 minutes for 2.5 miles was about 280.

My treadmill had similar amount of calories burned, but I never listened to it anyway since I knew it was unreliable.

Linsi,

Since I am the OP, I will respond to your post.  I did start excercising more and was not losing any weight at all.  My calorie deficit some days was over 1000 cals.  I added ONLY 200-250 MORE a day, and my weight started dropping.  I was closing the deficit and therefore my metabolism seemed to have kicked back in.

Sure, in the beginning I was eating 1000-1200 cals a day and lost weight very quickly.  Then I plateaued completely for 3 weeks (even when I was excercising).

Coming from a FORMER anorectic, I ate about 600 cals a day for 2 years and yes, I lost weight...from fat, muscle, you name it I lost it.  I also maniacally excercised because as soon as I went over that low cal intake, my metabolism was so shot, I would gain weight instantly.  And yes, the weight came back on rather quickly for me once I was in recovery.  Anorectics generally do not eat 1200 cals a day, I can tell you that- it's much more drastic.  THAT'S how they lose weight.

That's great!  Working out never hurt anyone (well, I'm sure somewhere in there someone got hurt...) and it will bring out the endorphins and keep you happy Laughing

Since I started working out again (I have a lazy streak a mile wide) I feel so much better.  Just healthier and happier in general.  Makes me wonder why I stopped before...oh yeah, stupid holidays.

Anyway, keep up the good work everyone- keep eating to make your metabolism happy!

Hi Guys,

Ok, I just checked my weight log and food log.  On thursday, I upped my calories by 200 more, bringing me to 1400 cals.  I pretty much followed 1400 cals up through yesterday (and plan on today) and my weight started dropping the next day.  It has consistently dropped and I lost 1.9 lbs since Friday.  Trust me, I am very surpised about this, as I don't have a whole lot to lose and usually lose weight at a 1 lb/wk rate.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow will shoot back up?  I think it also depends on what excercises we're doing too.  Right now I am running 4/wk and lifting arm weights 3/week.

If you both think that your weight increased because your metabolism has not yet stabilized, I think this is entirely possible, but I don't know why mine seems to have sped up so much.  I think I need to wait a couple weeks for a more definitive conclusion for the reason of my weight loss and track my weight.

I hope that helped!  But please continue to eat the proper amount of calories and don't get discouraged.  I really think my results are atypical and am not sure what it will continue to do next!

ps0u30d4 - Thanks!  It's very heartwarming to hear that I've helped someone!  I've read posts like mine that stated to eat MORE and at first though, Uh uh, no way!  But I'm glad so many people spoke up about that and made me change my thought process.  I wanted to be an additional testament that the Eat More Theory was put to the test and worked!

irishmum- I know it seems completely absurd to eat more to lose more, but it's true!  It took my 3 weeks to figure that out, and I'm glad I did.  I am a former anorectic (recovered for 6 years) and restricted severely and over excercised.  It's hard to turn that switch off even still and realize eating more will also lead to weight loss.  And I'm a LOT happier doing it the right way now then how I did it years ago.

phord - Good job on the weight loss!  It was better to figure it out eventually than never at all though, right?

Bulging Brides - I watched that show too!  6 weeks does make a difference for sure, but these girls are in the gym 6 days a week for 3-4 hours at a time.  In the real world, who has time for that??  Not me!

Tootsiegirl579- I think you can lose before the big day, but like you said it's all about how the dress fits.  If it's big on you already, think of how it will fit in 80 days :)

Lemntwist - just get right back on the horse!  We all go off track especially when eating out...just make the next day more healthy and maybe do a little more excercise then usual.  I'm going out to dinner both nights this weekend (friday our parents are meeting for the first time- ack!, and Saturday is my FI's birthday)...yikes, we'll see how I fare.

I ordered my dress a couple weeks ago (the jim hjelm lace dress) and it's kinda early to do so since I'm not getting married until 4/09.  However, they gave me 10% off for it, so I just bought it!  I was waiting to lose some more weight before trying dresses on, but oh well!  The sample fit me perfectly, but I asked them to order down 1 size, heh heh.  She suggested the larger size only because my bust is the largest part of me (no, not always a good thing) and she wanted to ensure the dress would "accomodate" it.  I assured her I was actively losing weight and some weight would definitly come off there.  The sample seemed a bit big on top (could have been stretched out though from people trying it on) which is why I felt comfortable ordering down.

Good luck to all on contining to lose and wedding planning!

I'm 5'3"!  And 26 year old...

Currently, I'm at 129, with a goal weight of 110.  I'd really like to get down to 105, but I haven't been that since I was a teen.

I did South Beach and excercised religiously when I was 22/23 and got down to 109.  I felt pretty comfy there, so I'll take it if I can.

I just bought a treadmill, hand weights and a stability ball so I can excercise when I get home.  So much easier than going to the gym and I can watch TV as I'm on my treadmill!

Buff brides, huh?  I just ordered Sexy Arms by David Sinclair as well as 3 & 5 lb hand weights and a stability ball.  And a treadmill :)

I cancelled my gym membership and am really hoping that the huge convenience factor of having a mini home gym will help motivate me.  My last gym had such bad hours, especially on the weekends.  Also, there were only 3 treadmills so you had to rush to the gym to snag one!  I said forget this, and ordered one for myself.

I also got the weights and video since I too want to tone up my arms!  I'm going to Kleinfelds tomorrow for a sample sale so it gives me some motivation that if I DO get my dress, I have something to visually work for!

Let me know if you have any cool stability ball excercises- I know how to do basic crunches with them and that's about it!

I'm 5'3" and currently 129 lbs.  I just started CC as of last week.

Goal weight: 110

Goal weight for wedding if I can do it:  105...we'll see!

I carry my weight in my bust/tummy for sure.  I'm looking to decrease these areas and just tighten up in my other areas.

I'm eating around 1200 cals a day, though I made an exception for the Superbowl yesterday...Go Giants!

Well, I just bought a measuring tape to track my progress, and these are my starting stats (since I just joined CC!)

 Bust: 37

Waist: 29.5

Hips: 37

I am a typical "apple" shape where all my weight goes to my bust and waist area!  I am hoping to reduce my bust to 34, waist to 26 and hips to 33/34.

We'll see!!

I know how ya feel!  I gained about 20 lbs or so and didn't really care too much since I know my fiance says he loves me no matter what and I don't "need" to lose weight.

Like you, I want to look FABULOUS in my dress and for my honeymoon in Hawaii!  Congrats on your engagement and good luckw ith setting a date.  We're getting married 4/25/09, so we have time and so do you!

Hi All!  What a great thread!!

I just joined CC and am super excited to start losing weight and getting back on track.  I got engaged December 1, 2007 and this has really motivated me to lose weight.  Our date is April 25, 2009, so I have plenty of time to get there Wink

Currently I am 130.2 lbs (started at 132 lbs) and would like to get down to 110 by the end of June.  We have our enagement pics in the summer and I want to look my best for them.  The hardest part will be maintaining it for the following year until the Big Day.  However, I feel so inspired right now and I just invested in buying a treadmill for my home.

I have yet to go dress shopping because I just felt so blah...so hopefully I can lose a little bit more in the upcoming months and get my butt into those bridal shops!  I'm currently in love with this dress:

Yes, I'm all about convenience!

It comes with a hook up for my iPod so I can blast the music in my home and not worry about those uncomfortable earphones!

I hope it's the best 1000$ I've spent in awhile....yikes!

Lindz, I know how you feel!  Yes, it is so hard to give up the "skinny jeans" and start shopping for bigger sizes, but this just means you are letting your body become healthier!

You are not giving into the voice that tells you the number is what matters most- it is NOT.  It's just a number!!  Your health and happiness and just the ability to focus on happy everyday life things is what matters.

I threw out my "skinny jeans" a loooong time ago.  I've been a recovered ana/mia for 2+ years now and have since moved up in the jean world!  However, I have a wonderful fiance, a great outlook on life and amazing friends and family.  Think how important the people are in your life and be grateful that they love you no matter WHAT!

Honestly, they don't care what size jeans you wear- they think you're amazing the way you are.  Blesses and hugs- you are a beautiful girl, so chin up!
