Ohio - I try  to be done with my shopping before Thanksgiving and I try to get everything wrapped over our break. Today I wrapped almost everything I bought. Still need a few little things but really close to being done. I hate crowds so I never do the black Friday thing and can't take all the ppl at the Malls in December - that's why I get done!

DH is at camp for the next 3 days...I might go try out boot camp at the Y tomorrow night. No cooking for the next 2 days YEAH!!!! Best thing about hunting season LOL

BEB - I don't think 1200 cal is enough for your ht and wt even if you want to lose and no eating until late evening - remember the furnace analogy...your fire went out then you shoved all that wood (food) in there with no way to burn it. I would think 1500 - 1600 is more reasonable for you and you should try to space it out thru the day beginning with breakfast. And make sure you are getting a little protein at each meal - it will ward off hunger - try to plan 3 meals and 2 snacks into your calories that way you will feel satisfied and not be searching for food all the time

Trivia Bananas are the  most popular fruit in America with Americans eating an average of 33 pounds per person each year and the inner temperature of a cucumber can be up to 20 degrees cooler than the outer air temperature hence the saying"cool as a cucumber!"

Laura - The CDC recommendation for our kids was even if they thought they had the H1N1 flu they were still supposed to get the vaccine

Trivia Egyptians used onions to alleviate over 8,000 ailments  Last night in the newspaper I read some army was feeding it's soldiers more garlic and onions to ward off H1N1 though of that I AM skeptical of it working LOL Handwashing is the best defense!

Getting my Thanksgiving groceries tonight after school then out to dinner - I never cook on Fridays LOL Planning to go shopping Sat to get xmas shopping done then meeting DD's for late lunch early dinner. Taking a break from exercise today... class last night - well gliding was done with your feet on these little pads about 8"around - it wasn't as hard as someone told me it was - we glided for 30min then did some body sculpting. My shoulder is pinging today ...it did not like one of the exercises - next time I'll improvise that exercise

I have found that I do better in the evening since I increased my calories since coming on here AND having more calories earlier in the day - I used to eat veeeery little thru the day then couldn't quit snacking at night. Now I don't do that and if my sweet tooth is calling a Skinny cow Ice cream sandwich does the trick - 140 cal 3g fiber. Plus my reflux now will not allow me to eat late in the evening or I will pay dearly in the amUndecidedprobably a good thing overall

Trivia for today: The Gettysburg Address is 286 words and the Declaration of Independence is 1,322 words. But government regulations on the sale of cabbage total 26,911 words!

Bocy sculpting was a killer - I left with shaking muscles! LOL We never do the same thing twice and I am sore most classes so I MUST be buidling muscle. I'm sure Pilates won't be easy tonight either

Tried a new recipe last night from Cooking Light - Chicken Tagine - but neither Dh nor I like it LOL He ended up making a large ice cream sundae later in the eveningSurprised...no wonder his triglycerides are high ..I had a 140cal skinny cow ice cream sandwich with 3g fiber

Yes BEB good advice from Alice and Laura - staying away from processed foods and others in moderation. Almonds are good for you but not if you eat a pound of them! LOL

Apples, peanut butter and skim milk are my standby health foods - what I grab wqhen hungry and trrying not to eat junk

We're doing an email campaign "Color your Plate' at work - sponsored by BCBS In today's newsletter - lots of trivia about fruit and veggies so I will write 1 trivia daily for all of you to enjoy! Thru these letters which contain long lists of the color of the day fruits and veggies...I have discovered that it is mostly the green veggies that I don't like LOL I was pretty good with red and good with yellow/orange!

In light of Thanksgiving, today's trivia: Yams and sweet potatoes re nutritionally quite different. A yam contains no Vit A, while 1 sweet potato contains 4x the daily amt required for Vit A - more than any other vegetable

Welcome newbies!! I'm behind because I was away for the weekend shopping. I can sympathize about the knees...I also have osteo in my knees and some-days they really ache but it doesn't keep me from exercising at least most days anyways. Actually strengthening my quads has helped

I always abide by the 5 second rule depending though on where it fell! LOL

I left a "to do list" for DH LOL while I am gone. I made stuffed shells yesterday so he would have left-overs

Everyone have a great weekend - think fit and healthy and get some EXERCISE!!!!

Last night the words Pilates and torture seemed to be synonyms!! LOL I have decided that I have weak abs... some of those Pilates moves were killers and I wasn't very good at them! I'm not sure I really like it but then I'm not very good at either so....I must NEED it...persevere. I never was very flexible even when I was younger. I just hope it is making me lose inches...

Really looking forward to DD's and my "shop till you drop" weekend!! Last year I did all my xmas shopping in 1 weekend! I hope my knees and feet hold up. I think we are having dinner at Bravo last year the food there was fabulous!! Shopping at LLBean and the Ross Park Mall on Friday then dinner at Bravo,. Saturday we'll do the Robison Town Center stores and Mall.

Margaret - I struggle with getting in enough water too - well at least in the fall and winter when I'm golfing no problem! - I switched to decaf coffee at work so it counts as a water since it does not have caffeine..that helps

Ohio - I write down ideas all year long - as soon as someone mentions something they'd like - my xmas shopping is always easy! In fact DD's and I are going this weekend for our annual "Shop till you drop" xmas shopping extravaganza!!! LOL ohhhh my poor knees and feet

my Sister had lithotripsy for her kidney stone yesterday - Dr felt he got it all this time - so now all she has left is her drain for the pancreatitis and the issue of diabetes/insulin. Was on 45units of Insulin , now on 15 units so maybe her little bit of pancreas that survived the infection will produce at least some insulin...fingers crossed. She only weighs 120 at 5'7" so I'm hoping that as she improves her appetite will come back and allow her to gain a little weight as she is stick thin right now

Margaret - yeah for working out a little harder!!

Golfed today...71 and sunny in central PA in November!! Def must be Indian summer - I could take this weather all year long

BEB - I would def eat more junk if it was here I simply don't buy it!! If you can't stay out of it don't buy it. I took an apple and a protein bar to the golf course for my snack

Queen of Mowing plans to mow one last time tomorrow after work. Then the plan for the  week is body sculpting Tues Thurs and Pilates Wed. - that's 4 days of exercise.

Alice - thanks for that reminder about being sore...I was slightly sore after Pilates and body sculpting..so that was good. I almost NEVER got sore when I worked out at the gym by myself..yeah for building muscle!

H1N1 Clinic is finished - WHEW !!! we vaccinated 960 kids(2,700 in the district so not a bad turn-out - a little over 30%) and we had NO problems! Everything ran smoothly and ppl pretty much came at the times assigned by last name so we were not slammed. It went really well and I got mine today too. I still need the regular flu shot..our clinic was cancelled as the local hospital did not get vaccine yet.

I should be out mowing/mulching leaves but am a little tired after the clinic and haven't been able to make myself go out to do it! LOL Hoping to golf tomorrow as Indian summer is here - 60's and sunnyCool

Just to let everyone know - I heard from Helene- she is well but just busy and she stayed longer than expected with her Mother. She is still planning to hike Kilimanjaro in Dec and her weight is holding steady - no gain while away. :) so we can quit worrying.

Alice LOL so you think you can dance would probably push the limits with DH LOL I've got him hooked on TBL though! And sea kayaking might be a good alternative if your knee continues to act up!

Margaret Sounds like you like some adventure! I get so motion sick I know I certainly couldn't do sea kayaking but the coastal hike sounds great. The change....NOT fun...I've had terrible hot flashes and ended up on HRT

Cynthia - Welcome ..yes dust off those walking tapes!!! WW is really working for chris so I hope it works for you too

BEB - always a work in progress to accept these stupid extra 7 pounds I want rid of ...I just don't want 7 to become 10 and so on.

Tonight - circuit training class we'll see how I like it. Didn't really care for Pilates LOL I like to be moving more. Body sculpting Tues was a killer - felt like Jillian was training me LOL we'll see what tonight brings

Welcome Margaret! I had no idea how much a stone was! LOL Glad someone filled us in

Glamgram..you are NOT too old to join us LOL a lot of us are very close to your age. I have been trying to lose about 7 pounds since I started on here almost 2 years ago..to no avail. I eat right, exercise faithfully but just can't make the scale move..it is frustrating. I'm at a total loss as to what to do...I just recently joined a new exercise class ( all last year I lifted weights at a local gym and made up my own routines) - Pilates Monday, body sculpting Tues Thurs...am hoping that someone else pushing my routine will help me lose inches if I can't lose pounds. I also do jillian's 30 day shred and some of the DVD's from P90X at home. I'm pretty fit but about 8 pounds (10 in a dream world) away from my GW

First night of Pilates tonight..some of the ab work was a little challenging but I completed everything...afterwards instructor says to me...so you've done Pilates before..I say no then she says well you must have done Yoga ...nope ..she goes wow you did really well for the first classSmile ok brightented my day since the scale was really mean to me this morning

I've done all 3 levels but not for 30 days straight, I use it the days I don't go to my exercise class. I really like it! It's a great work-out when you are short on time. First time I ever did level 1 I was sore but I don't get sore at all now

BEB - nice new pic for your icon. Yeah for finding a coat! I don't do outdoor exercise in the winter or late fall either ..I just can't take the cold

Ohio - Applebees has a WW menu so there are some low cal choices if there is one near your work

snow - HI!!! I still want your metabolism...comes over to get it LOL

Just spent the entire morning cooking - made stuffed cabbage soup - recipe to follow if it's good  g/f gave me the recipe. Then I made broccoli casserole for dinner and will be cooking a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, making mandarin orange salad with almonds, and tsk tsk I made triple layer choc pnb brownies...but only because there will be others here to help eat them and I will eat only 1...repeat again I will eat only one! LOL

Ok off to get into work out clothes: EXERCISE -  Jillian's 30 day shred

No time for Jillian yesterday so it was a good thing to exercise at lunch. Did well eating out yesterday - had Italian wedding soup and a salad with balsamic vinaigrette and 1 slice of homemade bread NO dessert yeah me LOL

My favorite apple - honeycrisp and Jonagold. I eat an apple everyday at lunch the entire school year then take a break from them over the summer and eat melon instead

Tonight - first body sculpting class , hair cut at 6 and get groceries ...we have nothing in the house LOL even DH says "I never saw our fridge this empty" LOL

Laura - I have to agree about Liz - LOL even my DH says what's up with her! I was sad to see Abby go...she's been thru a lot

Alice - actually that report on your knee sounds good compared to what it could have been. My DH did have Synvisc - he got the 3 in 1 shot instead of 1 injection once a week for 3 weeks - his was one shot. It really did give him relief from the really bad pain he was having. You should try it. Our insurance paid for it. Brace is a good thing too. Too bad I can't loan you my stomach for a while LOL I hardly ever get hungry and stay full long after eating

BEB if I don't post it is simply a time issue

Tuesday exercise: 30min walking/jogging in the gym over 30 min lunch time - gave up lunch time to exercise since my time will be limited this evening with delivering the car to the shop, eating out, trick or treat Gkids coming over and choir at 7:30. Hope to maybe fit in Jillian's 30day shred - it's 20min but not sure if I can fit it in.

CryI cried when I saw my Sister yesterday...she looks like a walking skeleton. I felt soooo sorry for her. We took her out to lunch - she managed a bowl of broccoli cheese soup at Applebees then we went to Macy's to get her new clothes. She has no rear or legs anymore...so she had to try on many pairs of jeans till we found 3 that were at least ok. I bought her a  jogging suit also for a comfy day and my other sister bought her jeans and a top - so all in all she got 3 pair of jeans, 6 tops and a jogging suit. I know she never buys herself much with 6 kids so I know she really enjoyed it. I left half of what she spent $ in her pill box..I know they are hurting financially as a lot of her medical supplies aren't covered by insurance. Please continue to pray for her... We didn't have time for the pedicures so maybe next visit.

I really don't remember having a favorite candy when trick or treating. Now I love candy corn and the dark choc milky ways bite size but avoiding both! Soaped windows only 1x that I can remember and did throw corn but no eggs or toilet paper. My favorite costume - a cat with a tail ..I think I wore it in second grade!

Shopped yesterday at the outlets - got a golf shirt for 9.99 and a pair of khaki's for $28. Then bought some stuff at Harry and David's - green olive spread for DH, scone mixes yummy but fattening will have to make when lots of ppl are around to eat them

Funny BEB  I used to like pizza but now don't really care for it though I do like white pizza but I make my own

Laura - way better to get your kind of deal! LOL

Yeah for wogging ohio!!! It WAS a perfect day

I golfed Coolshot 96  and would have been lower if I could have hit the ball the first 3 holes LOL but I was glad I was able to get my swing straightened out for the next 15 holes! G/f had 95 and I had 96.

Going with my Sister B to visit my Sister today. She's lost over 50 pounds - we're taking her to Macy's to buy some jeans - she has nothing to wear that fits! She's feeling better but still has a kidney stone to deal with and still has a drain in her pancreas. We'll take her w/c in case she tires out. We have pedicures scheduled at 3pm!!!Smile

Chris - welcome home!!! Ouch your poor knees ...grouting..  ugh Will be awaiting details of the trip!Hope that SD had a good time too

Plan for the day...GOLF!!Cool before the weather turns bad - it's supposed to be 56 and sunny. Yesterday DD and I went shopping and out to dinner. I bought new boots, a reversable quilted vest and some new hand cream at Bath and Body. She bought a ring- it really was cool but too large for me I prefer smaller rings BUT LOL she thought the tag said $19 ...when she checked out the lady goes $83 Laughing here the tag must have said $79...oh well she got 8 rings out of that because you get 8 marbles for free with the ring and then she paid $3 for a black pearl type marble. LOL when she got into the car she said to me I wondered why you looked at me funny when I said I was buying one!!

Laura - LOL it was the same thing for my DH - he comes from a family of 10..if you didn't eat fast you got nothing ..explains why he is practically done when I finally sit down at the table LOL I only like the regular candy corn and beans for breakfast...ewwwwLaughing

Last night at golf - g/f made me laugh ..we both weren't playing very well but kept saying it felt good to be outside etc..we get to the ninth hole where on the steps up to the tee box the ladies league has little plaques for deceased members - just as I am about to tee off she says "I'm so glad my name isn't on the steps" then we both just started luaghingLaughingsomething to be grateful for...our names are not on the steps

i can't stand Tracey..there is always one. I felt bad for Dina but was glad to see her succeeding at home - the hub was a real jerk. Danny had a lot of support at home in his wife - yeah for positive families!

Ohio as a kid I had all sorts of things to do with food I didn't want to eat! I was a master at making it looked like I ate most of it when I did not!

For those of you with sleep issues...I never used to have them but then the hot flashes etc ...since starting on Melatonin I am sleeping so much better. Maybe some of you want to give it a try. I bought the 3mg but only take half - seems to be enough to help me sleep better

Bex - My g/f 's son has that game - she says it's great fun...so I need to go look for it! I'd love to get a lesson for free!! but not as cute and pretty as your DD LOL

Laura horseradish cream?? ewww LOL I go to bed at 11 and get up at 5:45

BEB - Sorry you are missing Kyle and for all of the problems at Nicole's I hope it all works out for the best for Kyle

Halloween candy...the only thing I like is candy corn..have NOT bought any !!....yet

it made for some fat kids who had to clean their plates.

LOL My Mother used to say that ...and I was a kid who sat for hours supposedly to clean my plate...which made for the very picky eater I am today

My Sister B and I are going to go next Monday to see my Sister who was sick. She is doing better - still has the drain though for her pancreas and still has a kidney stone that needs removed. She's been getting a lot of abdominal pain after eating...wondering if she is going to need enzymes since most of her pancreas was destroyed..she's already on Insulin

Yes DH got a flu shot about 3 weeks ago..of course now he is blaming being sick on getting the shot LOL

ohio - funny when I go away I usually maintain and have even lost some...no snacking between meals - I usually eat a little larger than normal breakfast, have fruit for lunch and then dinner - protein, salad, maybe even a potato of some sort and skip dessert. Funny I find it easier to stay away from snacking when away...maybe too busy to think about it and nothing in the room to snack on. Easier to eat protein and sald when someone else is fixing it! LOL
