You sound like you've got a good routine going, Cynthia! :) I'm hoping to get into one myself.. went for my first workout in AGES yesterday, and I'm feeling it today! But I like that feeling, because when I don't feel it, I feel like I haven't worked out hard enough and that I'm not really doing the best I can for myself. lol.

I know what you mean with the freshman 15! I gained the freshman 10 and the sophomore 15, sending me from about 130 to about 155. (Probably higher than that at times...) But there's no better feeling than being healthy! :D And the summer always seems like a very natural time to want to eat better and get in shape, so I guess its finally time to embrace it! :) Congrats on making it to 128! I'm sure you'll reach your goal, as active as you are!

Ccforme, thank you so much :) I never in my life would've let those "before" pictures see daylight, but I know a lot of people inspired me along my way and I want to do the same for others! I'm by no means in perfect shape, but that's not my goal - as long as I'm healthy, i'm happy! :D Way to go on working yourself back down! You'll reach your goal, no doubt. The trick is focusing on little victories. (My favorite and first little victory was not having to sort of *pop* my big winter coat down over my butt once it was zipped. Silly? Yes. Did it feel great the first time I realized I no longer had to do it? Yes!)

I find its much easier to get along when you chart your weight weekly too. (like with a weekly weigh in) Its hard to go day to day and see no change, but if you look back over a month and realize you were losing a pound and a half a week, its a lot more gratifying! I also reccomend taking your measurements if you work out a lot. I think I'm going to take mine tonight and post them in the next day or so. Then I'll know what I'm working toward!

Hope to see you guys here on the board :) I'm Heather, for future reference. Here's to a summer of exercise, eating right, and being dedicated to a healthier lifestyle!

Well, for anyone that's still around, I'm back for more! :D I did so well at maintaining, but then took a 2.5 week trip to France where I indulged myself... But hell, when you're in France, how can you abstain?! Anyway, I'm back up a little on the scale (126ish as of this morning) and I'm back into the summer throw of weightloss and muscle-gain!

New regimen!

I'm going to be working out 3x per week, and limiting myself to 1200cal on days when I don't work out (1500ish when I do) just like before. I intend to lose a good 5-10lbs. Really, I don't care about the weightloss as much as I do the inches lost. I'm hoping to get back to last summer's measurements. I haven't taken them recently, but I'll post a new (less proud) blog, knowing that I'm on the road to being healthier again!

I'm super excited to get back into it and start feeling great! Anyone interested in digging their heels in again? Newcomers or old :) I'm going to stage a weekly weigh in (again). I think Wednesdays is still a good idea.

Let me know! :D

Hey everyone :) I notice it's been ages since any of us posted... so I thought I'd stop in and say hi.

As a little bit of an update, i've been doing pretty well weight-wise, I guess. I've been super bloated for the past few days and my weight has been up a few pounds, which has me a little worried. It's almost TTOM, though, so I'll just be good and hope it goes away soon.

In the mean time, I posted some old shame and turned it into new inspiration! (old bikini pics... yikes... that I would only ever share with people on the same journey.) Just a reminder not to give up hope, and to remind us all that the battle is worth fighting :)

Miss you guys!

Hey ladies! :)

I'm sure everyone is gone for Spring Break, and I hope you're all having a great one! I didn't weigh in this week, but just to record it before I go on my cruise tomorrow, I'm at 122.0 (and TTOM'ing). So I'm hoping I don't gain too much :P 6 days on RCI :) I'm pretty excited!

Have a wonderful, SAFE break... and enjoy it, all of you!

WEIGH IN (from yesterday!) :

120.5

Weight Goal for next week: Maintain around 120-121ish

Work-Out Goal for next week: Calisthenics, maybe the gym?, and keep walking around campus

Work-Outs since last Wednesday: Walking around campus every day,  calisthenics and free weights (about) every night (about 20 min)

Spring Break is little more than 10 days away! I'm kicking it into gear and trying to watch my needless intake. I'm still around 1500cal/day, but less junk. So hooray! Hope you're all doing well, and I'm sorry I missed weigh in last week... I've started an internship that has be working 10 hour days Wed/Fri, so its hard to get on unless I do it at lunch! :) Happy Birthday, Michelle! :D

It looks like the birthday eating/drinking didn't get me too bad :) I'm maintaining right around 120 and feeling really good. I bought some new pants the other day and wore them for the first time yesterday... I walked around half the day thinking"What is it that feels so WIERD? Something isn't normal..." and I finally realized... My thighs don't rub together when I walk anymore :P I know that's a really silly thing to notice but... little victories, right? :)

You know, this is usually the part where I complain about the fact that I never get to the gym... but since I've started doing these calisthenics/weight lifting every night, I'm really seeing my body start to change a little! I think that this good, 20min each night sort of workout is a much better idea for me... I get my cardio walking around all day because I almost never take the bus. Then, I get my weight training at night! Its so much easier to find 20 minutes during the day than it is to find an hour and a half.

Well, even though TTOM is more or less over, my weight didn't go back down. But... this weekend was my 21st! I didn't get totally slammed or anything, but I definitely had some drinks, went out to eat, and ate a couple pieces of ice cream cake here and there... lol. But your birthday only comes once a year, right?? And I was 124.5 on Monday - most of the weight has already fallen off :) I like to think that a little bit of the increase is the muscle I'm gaining too from all of this evening work out stuff.

I'm up a little this week, but I've just begun TTOM, so that's to be expected.. It'll be back down by next week, I'm sure! I had my first round of tests this semester this week too, so I didn't make it to the gym... but I'll try to make it at least once or twice this week. On a happier note, this weekend is my 21st birthday! Woo hoo :) So that should be a good time! Congrats on the loss, Carrie! :) And Ashley, I know exactly what you mean... I feel like I'm in the same place. Thin, and healthy in my eating, but flabby from a severe lack of tone. /sigh It's frustrating, because you know the only way to fix it is to get to the gym, which is hard to do between classes, extracurriculars, work, and everything else!! For now, my resolution is to keep walking and to try to do my calisthenics whenever I get time. I know when it gets warmer I'll get into the mood to go a lot more often! :D

Hi Celeste :)

I struggle sometimes with balancing my weight and my work... The majority of my weightloss, however, was done from last Feb-May, before school ended. I just started watching my diet, with the understanding that I'd exercise over the summer when I had more time. That doesn't mean that I didn't change my daily habits though.. I stopped taking the bus entirely and started walking/taking the stairs in buildings. You'd be surprised what a difference that makes with a 30lb bookbag!

I would say to use this time to focus on your diet. Eat better, learn about nutrition. Monitoring what goes into your body isn't that time consuming... what takes time is getting your exercise. So until you have time to do that steadily, I'd just take the long way home (walking) and start trying to keep more active habits. If you have time to go work out, do it, but if you don't, don't feel pressured to. Its more about being conscious of what you're doing. Don't be obsessive, just be conscious. If you obsess over your weight, that's where you end up giving up other things - school work, social activities, etc. Keep a firm head about school coming first. At the same time, simply monitor your health, rather than feeling its an all or nothing battle.

Hope that helps?

Well.... I haven't been so good about that getting to the gym 3x/week... but I'm trying really hard to go at least a few times and I've been doing 100crunches/100 butt ups/leg routine/bicep curls/tricep lifts every night plus walking around campus every day. I've been consuming 1600-1800cal/day, and I feel like I'm tightening up a little... (It wouldn't take much, as bad as I've been slacking off!) Anyway, its all about fitness now - I don't want to overdo it and burn out, but I do want to keep healthy and active :D

Hey Matty!! Good to see you back :D Way to go on the weight loss; You look great!

I'm focusing on getting back into exercise myself. I've started nightly calisthenics and free weights for about 30 mins and I am going to the gym 3x a week with my boyfriend who is also trying to get in shape.

I just bought my bikini for the spring break cruise, so my deadline is March 14th :) I figure if I can keep it up, I will be set for the cruise! I quit calorie counting and just try to be healthy now... and so far so good! In 11 days, I will have been on CC for a year... that's crazy to think, huh? And in 3 weeks I turn 21! Woo hoo! :D

I'm back up around 20.5% body fat, which I'd like to get back down around 17.5% or lower... so we'll see :) I've become a case of skinny fat :P But I'm fixing it up!

Welcome to Carolina, btw! Wonderful to have you with us :D

Hi everyone! :D Hope you ladies all had a very merry Christmas or a happy holiday if you celebrate something different :)

I've been back home and was holiday munching a lot... but I have tried to start doing some exercise here and there. I've done some aerobic tapes and got a 10lb free weight for Christmas - so I don't have any trouble working on my arms when I'm just goofing around watching TV! :P Yesterday (well, last night at 2AM)... I finally persuaded myself to go work out. I managed 3.2 miles in 32min, so I guess that's decent, considering how long its been. :P lol

I'm going to try to keep it up! My New Year's resolution will be to exercise more and to get in better shape!

I'll weigh in since I haven't done it in ages: 123.5 - still in the maintenance zone. :) Hooray! Though if I don't keep up the exercise, I'm moving my maintenance level down to 120 or so. Sooo... exercise, here I come! lol.

Happy New Year to all of you :D

I found the same problem with the length of the programs, so I did 2 back to back. I just discovered this existed yesterday. The Bunny Bootcamp one didn't feel like much of a challenge, but I sure do feel sore from it today... so I guess it worked better than I thought! I also tried a yoga one, but only got about halfway through it before people came home and I felt silly doing it in front of my family. :P hehe.

I thought about trying some of the dance ones - I think there was a hip hop one. Maybe later today I'll put that on!

I'm not sure... if you've just recently picked exercising back up (as in stopped for a while) it could be gaining muscle? Maybe its just water weight from good old TTOM.

So, since I can't work over Christmas break (due to watching my sister for 2 weeks while my parents are gone to Hawaii... lucky...), I''ve decided to go work out as much as I can! I'd really like to go every day, but I don't want to overdo it. I've really lost a lot of my muscle, and I'd like to be in better shape for the holidays.

/sigh. I used to be able to do 100 crunches in sets of 25. Last night, I was pushing to be able to do 20 and had to stop at 60...

*apologizes to her tummy*

I'll whip it into shape over Christmas and have the incentive to keep it that way until at least Spring Break ;) Hope finals are going well for you all! only a few more days...

Hey everyone!!! :D

Sorry I've been MIA lately - Its super-busy finals time; I'm sure you're all going through it too... and with the holidays, its just really hard to find time >_< I'm glad to see that everyone's doing well, though, and that we have some new faces :D Welcome!!!

So, on the personal front, I have good news and bad news. The bad news... is that I didn't keep up with my November challenge :/ I was awful and went to the gym like 2x all month, plus 1 rock climbing trip. AND its super cold, so I've been taking the bus everywhere.

The goooood news however... is that I'm maintaing my weight at around 122-124lbs WITHOUT calorie counting :D I've been CC free for about 2.5 weeks and I've managed to finally feel when I'm full and just stop! Its great :D I feel like I can have anything now as long as I stop when I'm full and as long as I'm moderate with it. :) I've definitely gained some fluff since I've stopped the workouts, but its alright! Nothing a few weeks of exercise won't bring back, and I'm glad to be maintaining in a healthy range.

Since I've quit using the calorie counting function on the website, I'm not on as much... I still weigh every day and log my weight on here a few times a week. It took 10 months, but I feel like I've really changed my lifestyle now! :)

So hats off to those of you still pursuing your goals :) I know how hard it gets, but you can do it! Remember that its for happiness, for health, but most of all for YOU. I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season, and I'll still try to duck in a few times a week! :D /hugggggs to all of you!

Well, I didn't do very well with my challenge this week... I had a huge honors finance test yesterday and have a marketing one today, and its kept me so busy!!! /kicks self. I'm going to get in my 2 workouts before next week's weigh in. I've GOT to get back on track. Oh! But as a little bit of good news, I've gotten a bit lazy recently, and for like the last week, I haven't been logging food... But I also haven't gained, which makes me really happy. Maybe that marks that my lifestyle change REALLY was a lifestyle change? :) I just know when to stop now! That made me excited anyways ^_^

Michelle - Way to go!!! I'm so excited for you :D That's huge that you're finally down to 150! Keep it up, girl!

Carrie - My drinking snack of choice? Cheerios. Not the honey kind, just regular. Z cup is only 110cal, so I just take a big ziploc. They're good for munching, whole grain, and a bit like bread in your system, so they put a little weight (not literally) in your belly before you drink. So far, so good, if you're interesting in trying that. WTG with the running, btw :D

Ok, so with the challenge month, I'm going to make my goal to go to the gym AT LEAST twice a week every weigh-in after this. Its still warm enough to play tennis (Its supposed to get up to 77 today! Isn't that crazy?) and I still have yet to rock climb... (The boyfriend seems reluctant for some reason), so I'm going to try to do some of that too. The real goal is to work out at LEAST 2x/week. Hey!! :) I'm glad to see that you guys are back - its been lonely around here, lol. Well, I knew going into October that it would be a fattening month (Halloween, Formal, Fall Break...) Turns out my weight has stayed pretty steady, and I know why... I'm sticking right at 123ish, but I'm losing muscle! I haven't been to work out in almost 3 weeks and I feel AWFUL. I have GOT to make myself get back to the gym. I meant to go this morning, but as usual, sleep won that battle.

But hey, I guess we should look on the bright side. Michelle, if you've only backslid a few pounds, highfive for you! :) I know its frustrating seeing the same number on the scale, but at least you haven't gained it all back, right? Remember the first time you saw 153 on the scale while losing? :)

Carrie, 5lbs seems horrible, but it isn't the end of the world :) You could have that back off in 2 weeks if you tried, I bet. I'm sure that some of it is just increase in water weight. And like you said, things are getting back to normal now!

So, all that said, I propose we make November a "Challenge Month" or something. Starting tomorrow, since its our first November weigh-in. Everyone can come up with a little goal to be met by Dec. 3rd (our first December weigh-in).  Just getting back on track could be a goal! :D What do you guys think? Interested?

Haven't heard from anyone recently, but I hope you're all doing well :) I know its a busy time, though, so no worries!! :D I'll try to post some pics from formal this Friday :)

Maintaining The alphabet without Zzz's Oct 21 2008

Woooah, I definitely don't need 2000/day. When I lost the weight I had 1200/day, and CC tells me that to maintain at a lightly active lifestyle (walking to classes and all) that I need around 1650. I'm a little loose in the measuring of foods (not the calories in my food, but my portion sizes aren't 100% correct - the cafeteria isn't great for that, unfortunately..) So I give myself a 50cal margin of error.

And I should have specified about the 1400 - What I save up extra during the week, I have on weekends when I'm with friends and all. I get an extra 1000cal or so on Friday/Saturday. So it evens out around 1600.

Sorry, I do appreciate the reply - but there's no waaaay I should be maintaining on 2000cals! Maybe if I was working out every day :) heh.

Weight Loss 1800-1900 calories too much? Oct 19 2008
14:48 (UTC)

Wow, we could be twins, Stevie! (Well, you'd be the more toned since I don't work out every day...) I'm 5'4.5''-5'5''ish, 20, and maintain between 123-125lbs. :) I eat 1400cal/day to maintain plus whatever I worked off (I do 500cal exercise routines 3 or so times per week) and that's been perfect for me. I know what you mean about late night cravings. Try eating something filling before you go to bed, and if you wake up in the middle of the night, drink something. A bottle of water, a low-cal drink... something like that. It'll fill your tummy and make you feel satiated. When I want something more substantial than a drink, but not as high cal, I go for plain Musselman's Applesauce. You can get 2 huge containers of it at Sams or CostCo for like $5. But I'd be sure you're getting 1800-1900 cal/day. I think if I worked out every day, that's what I'd be shooting for too. I tend to save up my 1500cal deficit from my workouts for the weekend ;) But I guess that's why I fluctuate between 123-125! Heh. Even if you keep up the habit of eating at night, I doubt you'll gain, simply because you're working it off. :)

Formal is next weekend, and halloween is the weekend after (and my costume has a sheer torso :O!) So I'm going to kick it into gear! The goal is to be 123 BEFORE formal, and I wouldn't mind getting in a few extra workouts before halloween. We'll just see how it goes!

Michelle, I know what a heartbreaker it is when you work so hard and see those numbers slipping up a little :( You just have to tell yourself that you're going to get back on track and then MAKE yourself do it. You're going to weigh more around TTOM, and when you're sick, you have to give your body what it needs in order to get better. Just keep a positive attitude and push forward! Don't feel bad :P I'm not logging my weight until I'm back to 123... purely because I hate seeing those big bumps in my graph :P Just tell yourself that YOU are in charge of your body. Control the scale, don't let the scale control you :) /supportive hug
