ashleeyyy: You need to get some help, thats not healthy. You can not be 90lbs when you're 5'7, it's an unrealistic goal. Even 109lbs is at the very bottom (or under) of your healthy weight range. |

When I first started dieting I didn't tell a soul, I was very very sefl-consious of it. But after a while my mom started noticing, and people would start commenting that I looked smaller and stuff, and I also had to ask my parents to buy me new clothes cause they got to big, so obviously they found out :P. I started at 184lbs, and am now 143lbs (my wasit went from 38' to 28', my chest went from 42' to 36', and my hips from 41' to 35'), my mom noticed after I had lost about 15lbs, and my dad noticed after about 25lbs. Generally there reactions have been good, my mom doesn't talk about it, but I know she's supportive, she's just really awkward when it comes to talk to me =P, she's pretty overweight too, I think I have motivated her to try to lose a bit of weight because I've noticed lately that she's been trying a bit harder to excersise and eat healthy =). My dad has struggled with his weight a bit too, he bikes 10km everyday and lifts weights though now (for probably the past 3 years) so he's in great shape now, but he knows what it's like to struggle with weight, so when he noticed that I was trying to lose weight he was really supportive, made sure to stock up the fridge with lots of fruits and veggies and tried to cook more lean meats. I'm really thankful that they've been so awesome. =) |

Hey Aiden, Firstly, I think it's great that you were brave enough to tell them in the first place, good job =). A lot of people never tell their parents, it's good that you did. It's really to bad that your dad has taken it so bad, I know it's hard to believe now, but eventually he'll accept that you're gay, maybe not tomorrow or next week, or next month, but it will happen. Have you talked to the theripist about how your dad is treating you? Maybe try asking her to find some help for you and your home situation, social services is there for a reason, they can help. I think pretending to be straight should be the very last resort, if you feel you need to, they definatly do it, but try to use some other alternatives first. Maybe try getting them to go to a PFLAG meeting? (http://www.pflagcanada.ca/en/index-e.asp). I hope everything turns out ok for you. If you want someone to talk to, add me on msn (just send me a messege on here, I'll give you my msn). Stay strong, and proud. =) |

The only negative side I've found is that I need to buy new clothes, and there's a few shirts that I really love that I can't wear anymore =( And I went from a D cup to a C cup, but I don't quite mind that to much, C is fine with me. |

There's already a thread for this just so you know (http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/724 10.html). But anyways, I totally agree with everything you said, I've been out as a lesbian for about 9 months now, I always find it easier to be around other people who are gay, because they really understand more then other people I find. |

I usually don't pay attention to percentages, but I try not to go over 35% fat. Usually I just try to get in my 4 food groups; wheats, fruits/veggies, dairy, and protein, and make sure I don't have tons of just one, or to little of another. |

| Young Calorie Counters | What Constitutes a Binge? | May 21 2008 12:57 (UTC) |
3 |
My definition of binge would be eating more then 2000 calories in just a few hours. For about a month I would binge once a week, it's a horrible habit. I would eat a bowl of cereal, pancakes with syrup, any left overs in the fridge, bag of popcorn topped with tons of butter, spoonfuls of peanut butter, any candy I could find, McDonalds, pop, chips, granola bars, everything and anything until my stomach would get so painful that I would go to bed crying from the pain. That is a binge. |

| Young Calorie Counters | what are your summer plans? | May 21 2008 12:27 (UTC) |
12 |
As soon as school ends I'm going to Halifax for a few days, then Toronto for a week to go to Pride (I'm soooo excited for it), then Ottawa for Canada day with my dad, step-mom and siblings, and then 2 more weeks in southern Ontario, then home in August. My goal is to lose at least 5 pounds over the summer, I know I'm probably going to pig out a lot, but I'm going to at least try to make an effort to eat right. |

I'm 14, and have never been kissed. Well, I have (it was like 2 weeks ago actually), but I don't count it cause it was with one of my best friends and she was high and it didn't mean anything at all. And I've never been in a real relationship, I'm waiting for the right girl =) |

| Young Calorie Counters | I'd love a buddy. Want to help me? | May 15 2008 23:29 (UTC) |

I mostly just count calories, 1400 a day, my main focas right now is to not eat to little but not binge. I try to get in excersise, but I've not been very sucessful lately, once I get my eating habbits into a normal routine then I'll probably try to work more on exersising. I did TurboJam for quite a while, and I've kind of stopped for now, but I'd like to start it up again soon. |

I know exactly what you mean, I weighed about 185 for quite awhile and when ever talking about weight people would always guess I was about 140, and now that I'm down to 145 they say I look like I'm about 130. Maybe it's just the way our weight is placed, or maybe it's just people being nice when we actually don't look like that =/ |

| Young Calorie Counters | do your parents eat like you? | May 11 2008 15:30 (UTC) |

For the most part I'm a healthy eater, I rarely eat junk food now, except when I give in and binge, but I'm working on stopping that =) I'd like to become a vegitarian, I've tried before, but it never seems to work, eventually I think I will though, I find it so horrible that I'm eating a poor little animal. My parents on the other hand, are probably some of the worst eaters on the planet, junk food, cookies, chocolate, sugar, fast food, all on a daily basis. It's quite disgusting, but they've slowly changed a little bit since I,ve been trying to eat healtht, I've convinced then to get a bit less fast food, and buy more fruits/veggies while grocery shopping, it's a start =) My mom is very overweight, and she's kind of given up on trying to get back in shape, I've been trying to get her motivated but she's to stubborn to listen to me. It's just really hard sometimes though cause there's ALWAYS junk food in the house which makes me crave it a lot, I wish I could just throw it all out. |

Original Post by jessicakait: I know exactly how you feel! On weekdays I'm usually fine because I have school and homework, and I'm to busy to think about food a lot usually. But then the weekend comes and all I can think about is foooood and sweets and sugar, ahhh. The last 3 weeks have been really horrible, I've binged at least 5 or 6 times, and I've gained 5 pounds =( We just need to remember to stay focased, remember how horrible it feels when you get on the scale and gain weight, the junk food is DEFINATLY not worht that. I had wanted to get down to 130 by the end of June, but thats probably not going to be able to happen, so my goal is just to be in the 130s (even if it's 139.9, I just need to get out of the 140s for good). How much do you guys eat per day? I'm trying for 1400 calories a day. |

I've got 20lbs left to go, already lost 35lbs though. I had lost 40lbs, but I've been bingeing lately and I gained 5lbs back, so I'm trying to get back on track and eating normal amounts. |

Personality- I'm not really sure, she'd have to be sensible, intelligent, and open-minded. Definatly against racism/sexism/any type of discrimination. Can't be a smoker. Wants kids. Not afraid to say they need help. Physically- Around the same height as me, or shorter, doesn't overly matter, as long as she's not a lot taller then me. Nice hair, medium legth, any color. Average size, definatly not super skinny or underweight, doesn't matter if they have a bit extra weight, as long as they're not seriously over weight. And definatly a nice average/large-ish chest =) |
