i've never tried this, but you might be able to just combine the cake mix with pumpkin. i think i saw a recipe like this that was just chocolate cake mix + pumpkin, so it should work with yellow cake as well.

It's easier to eat less when you're smaller because your body doesn't burn as many calories as the 200 pound person.

My plan is to have a little bit of everything I want and try to stop eating when I'm full, not to the point of being sick. Also, don't feel the need to eat everything that day, because there are always leftovers!

I used to make butter sandwiches: slice of white bread (crust removed), spread with butter, folded in half, and flattened between my palms.

I also loved fries dipped in frosties at Wendy's, though I think this is actually quite common.

And I used to dip beef jerky in coke.

Weight Loss helpppp! Nov 06 2009

we are very similar! i've struggled with bulimia in the past as well but have been doing much better.

Social Eating: this is OK. we are in college and are supposed to have fun. however, be careful. if everyone else eats two cookies, don't eat twelve. try to follow the cues of others who have more "normal" eating patterns.

Portion Control: this is tough for me as well sometimes. i try to follow the rule of filling my plate with 1/2 veggies, 1/4 protein, and 1/4 starch. opt for a piece of fruit instead of ice cream or cake for dessert, and NO SECONDS. it also helps to eat and then leave the dining hall, rather than hanging out and talking with friends for an hour.

All or Nothing Mindset: i have the same problem, but i have been trying hard to convince myself that there is a huge difference between going over 100 calories for the day and going over 1000 calories for the day. even if you eat too much at one meal, try your hardest to just get back to normal afterward. you've probably heard this before, but if you overcompensate by restricting too much it will just lead to more binging.

hope this helps! good luck with everything :)

I agree with you. On a related note, I hate that I spend 24/7 thinking about how fat I look, when I'm 5'2", 112 pounds, and honestly thinner than most people around me. It's messed up, to say the least.

I take advantage of the salad bar, soups, and sandwich line very often, as it is easy to get a low cal but filling meal.

I also eat lots of oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, fruit instead of the desserts, and I always load up on veggies.

It's not impossible to eat well in the dining hall, it just takes a little more thought and planning. My school also posts the menu with nutritional info online, which is helpful.

i'm 5'2", 110 pounds, 20 years old. even using the recommended children's calculator it says i maintain at 1600 if i'm sedentary. 40 minutes of walking earns me another 200 cals. i honestly do think i would gain weight if i ate 2000 every day. just my two cents.

Health & Support Bulimia relapse. Whatttt now? Oct 15 2009
01:51 (UTC)

i consider myself almost fully recovered, although i don't think it's possible to ever be 100% free of disordered thoughts/behavior. honestly what helped me the most was starting to eat more like a normal person.

for example, if you binge one day, don't try to make up for it the next day by starving yourself, because you will binge again and the cycle just keeps going.

try to eat nutritious, whole foods at regular times each day, and don't focus so much on weight-loss for now. your health is the most important thing, and regular eating patterns may help to get your metabolism back on track.

You definitely need more protein. And try some whole grains like oatmeal. They're filling and very good for you.
