I hadn't heard about anything similar to a DivaCup before and found www.divacup.com to be extremely informative!

(The following is directly from www.divacup.com.)

Isn't The DivaCup™ messy though?

Almost every woman's initial reaction to The DivaCup™ is "Ewww! That's gross!". When women first heard about tampons they had the same reaction. It took a long time before the concept caught on. Once you take the time to learn about The DivaCup™ and actually try it for yourself you will be shocked how clean and NOT messy it is.

The cup sits low in the canal and you can even avoid reaching inside the vagina by pushing the cup out slightly by bearing down on the muscles for removal. Most women find that once they start using The DivaCup™ that every other method is messy and gross! Just imagine a product that actually lives up to it's expecations; no leaking, no odor, convenient, comfortable, clean AND helps to save the planet! It's hard to believe that all this could be a reality, but try it for yourself and you will see that it is true.

"I would just like to say that I am in love with my DivaCup! Before I got it I wasn't sure if I would be comfortable inserting and removing it due to the mess and the general idea of seeing my blood. I thought that seeing it would cause me to gag. Boy, oh boy was I wrong. There is hardly any mess and I actually found it kind of interesting to see the blood in its natural form. But again, no problems. I must also mention that I LOVE the fact that now when I use the restroom I don't have to play around with a string getting in the way and then having to adjust it again and getting messy. What a relief!

I now understand the smile on the woman's face as she holds the DivaCup on the website. This thing truly makes me happy and I honestly don't know how I got by with tampons all those years. I am even going to go to a different forum and post about it to those ladies. This has truly made my life easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you DivaCup!"

Lourdes - You are such a sweetheart! Thank YOU for joining this group! Smile

Welcome Maria, Erin, and Destn!

Maria - Thank-you for posting! One thing that is keeping me in a calorie deficit is that I enjoy all of the foods that are in my food regimen. Since I am not a professional healthy eater yet, I give myself quite a bit of leeway. I substitute healthier choices that I enjoy ie: cheerios, baby dill pickles, popsicles, juice and peanut butter into my eating habits where fast food and soda used to be.

For me it is working best to not try and have a perfect eating plan overnight. As long as what I am eating this week is healthier than I used to be eating then I am that much closer to my goal without feeling deprived and thinking about food all day long. Small changes applied consistently add up to Big long term results!

Erin - We would love to have you in our group! What an awesome reason to get healthier! Have you met ColeyMoley? She too wants to get into better shape before having little ones.

Destn - We NEED you in our group. You definitely found the right place and we are lucky that you did! Smile

Diets don't work! Tongue out Eating healthier and maintaining a calorie deficit more days than not DOES work. We are all here to work with you while you achieve your goals once and for all!

"Self-Control Vs. Willpower" (taken directly from page 79 of the Mayo Clinic's "Healthy Weight for Everybody" book)

"You may think that you can reach a healthy weight if you just exert enough willpower. You just won't eat those foods that cause you to gain weight. Unfortunately, this well-intentioned plan only sets you up to fail as your willpower inevitably cracks. So what's the fix? Admit that willpower doesn't work, and focus instead on self-control.

Think of it this way. Say that before you start your weight program, you know that you have a terrible sweet tooth. You can approach the problem in two ways.

One is to figure out how to fit occasional sweets into you diet without destroying your overall plan. Two is to tell yourself you'll avoid sweets entirely -- although you'll continue to buy sweets so others can enjoy them. If you choose the second approach, you'll have to exert tremendous willpower. You'll likely feel deprived when you can't have sweets, and deprivation can lead to binge eating. So tell yourself that you can eat small amounts of certain sweets. But what if, even then, you know that you can never eat just one small piece of cheesecake.

Here's a trick. Instead of using willpower to avoid the cheesecake, use self-control. What's the difference? Self-control is, "It's hard for me to control my eating of cheesecake, so I'm not going to keep it in the house, but I may have an occasional piece when I dine out." Willpower is, "I'm going to buy my favorite cheesecake, but I'm not going to eat it. I'll prove to myself how strong my willpower is." The first approach is sensible planning. The second may be torture. And because the lifestyle changes you make are supposed to be both healthy and pleasurable, why torture yourself?

Chances are, as your taste buds adapt to a new style of eating, cheesecake (or whatever your downfall is) will loosen its grip on you and won't taste as good as it once did. Barring that, look for a recipe for a low-fat, low-sugar version of your favorite treat, and indulge in small portions on occasion. Or, cut off a small piece for yourself and give away the rest so that you won't be tempted to eat more. You'll be surprised to discover that just knowing it's all right to allow yourelf a treat now and then can make it easier to say no."

I look forward to seeing you all meet your goals!

Thank-you for being so understanding. I guess that I was still in the mindset that whenever I chose to get healthier I'd just be able to do whatever exercises I wanted to.

My knee makes weird noises sometimes even though I function just fine on it, but I don't want to push my luck until I know exactly what it looks like inside my knee.

I am currently taking most of Arbonne's supplements including their Joint Formula three times a day, but thank-you for offering to tell me about Beachbody's Joint Support.

Making it through 6 weeks of Slim Training is a huge accomplishment. Way to go Kimberly!

Hello Kimberly,

You are correct, I had a 6 week walking plan. This Monday will/would be the start of week 3. My goal has been to have a 3,060 calorie deficit each week and I've been meeting that goal with my housecleaning and with eating a bit less.

Once I get to the point where I am having difficulty meeting my minimum deficit I'll add the extra walking that I thought I would need to add by this point.

I've been having some second thoughts about SI6 for now because about a year ago I hurt my right knee. I have not had the knee checked out by a doctor and won't be able to for quite some time. (No medical insurance.)

I do a lot of physical activity with my housecleaning already and until I have some of this weight off and can get an OK from a Dr., I don't think that I should do any exercise videos. When I first started thinking about SI6 I didn't even think about my knee.

My knee is one of the reasons that I started building my Arbonne business. It will be such a blessing to be able to get medical insurance and to have this knee checked out!

Thank-you for checking in and please let me know how your SI6 program is going!

Melissa Smile

Gennysaurus - Thank-you for the great response. My landlady was able to eat anything she wanted to in small portions for a few years into her second surgery and in the past 2-3 years she has not been able to keep most foods down.

Something has changed in recent years and Linda (my landlady) isn't sure what that is. She thinks that it might be an ulcer that doesn't allow her to keep food down, but she is waiting to run that by her doctor.

Kimberly - What fun encouragement! Thank-you! My 12 week plan is to have a progressively difficult walking regimen for 6 weeks (I'm on week 2) and then do SI6 for 6 weeks.

Once I complete the first 4 weeks of walking then I'll reward myself with the purchase of SI6. My start date for SI6 is set for March 10th. Turbo Jam looks like a blast from the infomercial, it'll be fun to see how you like that as well!

PenniePie - I rent a smallish room in a townhome and I don't have much space either, lol. We can make it work! I have the "office half" and the "bedroom half" of the room and then there is this square of space in front of my TV, beside my bed, under the ceiling fan, and in front of my desk where all of my slim in six-ing is to take place. Tongue out

Sure thing Trisha...

"Slim-in-6" is a workout system that is sold on an infomercial or on www.beachbody.com. I believe the complete total is $72.80 which includes s&h.

The workout has cardio, toning, and stretching that gets you into shape using an exercise tube or free weights without the bulking up that heavier weight machines MIGHT cause. I've read that you have to work pretty hard to bulk up though.

I really like that they have a short beginner workout and then you gradually progress to the intermediate and then advanced levels in 6 weeks.

My plan is to do a gradually improving walking regimen for 6 weeks and then do Slim-In-6 the 6 weeks right after that. After Slim-In-6 I want to be in shape enough to blade, bike, and hike in time for Spring!

Good Luck as you search for your perfect home workouts!
