| Fitness | MARCH running milage goals? | Feb 20 2008 21:11 (UTC) |

I'm not a runner, per se, but I try to run around three miles a day, usually 18-20 miles a week. I haven't set goals like thi before. Hmm... for March... let's go with 70, since I'll be on Spring Break for a while and will be away from my gym. |

Sooo... today I decided to see how much I could really do, instead of stopping at 2 miles. First off, I ran a mile without stopping. I have never even run .25 miles without stopping before in my life! Then I walked for .25 miles. Then I ran .75 at an even faster pace than before without stopping. Then I walked for .5 and jogged for .5. Three miles, go me! |

| Awesome, thanks. I have been doing strength training 3-4 times a week. Usually hips and legs but also arms. I do high reps at a moderate weight. | |||
| Fitness | Am I getting enough calories? | Feb 14 2008 18:58 (UTC) |

I'm with you too. I jog/walk for 30 minutes, avg ~ 250 calories burned, weight train for about 10-15 minutes on my thighs, hips, arms; and row for a while every single day. I can feel that I have more muscle*, but I don't look any more toned than before. It may be that I'm not eating enough. My burn meter usually says around 2000, and I usually eat 1000-1200 calories a day. This is up from 800 cals I was eating a few weeks ago, but I wasn't exercising then either, so I think my calorie deficit is around the same. I don't want to go into starvation mode, but i haven't lost an ounce in two weeks and I'm a little afraid I may be pushing my body too much. *Maybe I should specify, my muscles ache more than usual so I'm more aware of them instead of building them up. |

| Weight Loss | Can't get under 140 !!! | Feb 14 2008 15:18 (UTC) |

| Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, but I can empathize. I started out here a few weeks ago at 145, lost the first five really super quickly and even at 1200 cal and two plus miles of jogging per day, I have been at 140 for about a week now. I'm getting a little frustrated, but I've gotten used to my routine and figure I'll stick with it. | |||

I want to be able to sit somewhere besides the edge of the chair so my thighs don't pread out. I don't want to be "the fat friend". I want to wear a minidress. (I love Twiggy) I want to be America's Next Top Model... just kidding, I'd need about 4-5 more inches for that. I want to swim for the first time since middle school. I just want to be happy really. |

| This brings joy to my heart, as I love my salt. I drink loads of water so I'm not terribly worried about water weight and have freakishly low blood pressure, like 90/58. If I have to get rid of my sugar, at least there's one little pleasure I can partake in. | |||

| I know, its the whole "shoot for the moon land among the stars" thing. And it is only underweight for CC's BMI calculator. On every other BMI calculator, it's normal weight, low normal weight, but normal. I know I probably won't get all of the way there, but hopefully along the way I'll find a happy medium I'm comfortable with. | |||
| Weight Loss | 1300 Gang | Feb 12 2008 19:13 (UTC) |

Breakfast: Lunch: Total - 626 (so far) Planned for tonight: This is good for me, but I WILL try to tack on a few more here and there. I usually run a few miles a day, but I'm sick today. I just miss the days of eating without care, I don't think I'll ever be as happy as I was back then. It's also super hard having two roommates whose stomachs are bottomless pits and NEVER gain weight. Oh yea, and they don't exercise. One tends to grow a bit resentful. |

My target is allegedly 1300. I am 18, 5'6", 139lbs. I am aiming for 110. I jog/walk briskly for about 30 minutes a day, do strength training on my hips, thighs, and arms several times a week and try to urg (row) a few times a week as well. I'm in college and walk pretty much everywhere I go (except for when it's 5 bloody degrees outside like today!). I do have a problem though. I find it nearly impossible to force myself to consume more than 800 calories a day. If I eat more, I usually cry myself to sleep that night, convinced I'll be a balloon in the morning. I know I need to, but I don't get fatigued. I take vitamin supplements and drink a crapload of water. I'm still only losing 1-2 lbs per week. I know this is unhealthy, but I think I will need serious counseling (online forums are the selfhelp groups of today) to force myself to eat more. |

| It's possible the weight hasn't come off because of the type of exercise. If you're using weight machines, You're building muscle, which weighs considerably more per square inch than fat. Don't drop to 700 calories. You may have reached your natural limit before heading off into dangerous territories. | |||

| Well, my goal weight, at 1lb/week, not even factoring in that eventual horrific plateau phase, will take me until at least sometime in October. But I'm still more than up for trying to lose some of that by June. My only issue is that I calculated my lean muscle mass and that came to more than I want to weigh by the end of my weight loss, so I'm a little confused as to how to remedy this problem. So considering I can't get down to 0% body fat, any tips on how to achieve this? | |||
| Young Calorie Counters | 5'7" or 5'8" girls! What size are you? | Feb 09 2008 05:56 (UTC) |

| I'm 5'6.5", 140 lbs (most of which is fat), and a size 13. But then again, I'm pretty over weight. I'm aiming for a size two, and since I've got a fairly small frame, if I'm diligent enough, I think I can get there. | |||
| Weight Loss | Wow- eat more to lose more ? | Feb 07 2008 17:56 (UTC) |

| My calorie meter tells me to eat around 1500 calories a day and this scares the crap out of me. My whole life I have been over weight and my whole life I have been eating in the low 1200s when it comes to calories. Even when I was active I never lost weight and whenever I would stop moving, I'd pack it on. I cannot possibly accept that I need to eat this much and I can't bring myself, psychologially, to eat more than 800 calories a day. This is supposed to be bad for me, but the only times in my life when I have EVER lost weight are when I restricted myself to ultra lowcal diets, even when I was running two miles a day and eating 1200 cals I never lost a pound. | |||

| I am totally up to the challenge, maybe up the ante to 1.5-2 lbs/week. I'm going to New York City the last week in June (to see the Daily Show w/Jon Stewart!!!). And I want to look good by the time I get there. Not to mention, I'd love to show up all of those preppy girls who didn't like me because I was fat in highschool. I'm a freshman and instead of gaining fifteen, I'd like to lose fifteen. I've always been the chubby one and would really like to change that. | |||

| I feel your pain. My body is pretty pearlike as well. Upper body is decent, I an even see individual ribs when I just stand normally, but my lower body is a size 13. I really don't get it. Whenever I diet my face gets all gaunt and I look sicky, but I've never dropped a pant size, even when I ran two miles a day for three months. If a dress flairs out at the waist, I'm a size three; if it is form fitting, I'm a bloody ten. The joys of womanhood. | |||

I know it's unhealthy, but I adore Twiggy. All I'd have to lose is about 1/3 of my body weight and I could totally fit into her minidresses. Just kidding, I'm only aiming to lose 30 lbs, I think I'd look like a starvation victim at 95 lbs. She and I actually have similar skeletal struture and facial shapes and I'm not too far off her measurements for bust and waist, despite the fact that I weight about 50 lbs more than her at her peak popularity. Damn pear shaped genetics. I just want to wear a little plastic mac with paisley tights and galoshes. |

| I just can't get it right, I'm naturally a small eater. I usually only ate about 1200 calories any way, yet for some reason I have never lost weight, just gained. Even when I worked out everyday for three months! I'm now on a super restricted diet, since the BMR suggestions just werent' cutting it for me. it's been about two weeks since I started and now I'm finally getting used to the small amounts of food. People say that I'm eating too little and they're worried, but they don't understand that I ate heathily before and still look like a balloon. | |||
