A peekapoo is not a real breed.  It's two breeds.  It's a mutt.  Just like a schnoodle.  Mutts.

They would only be considered a real breed if they produced offspring that were identical to the parents.  If you mix a pekingese with a poodle you'll get some pups that look like a peke, some that look like a poodle, and some that will look like a mixture of both.  Then their kids would produce the same thing (some would look like pekes, some poodles, and some a combo).  It takes a very very very very long time for mutts to become an actual breed.

My dog is part Australian Shepherd part some type of retriever/gun dog.  She was bred that way on purpose.  However, that doesn't make her an "Australian Retriever" or whatever cute name someone can come up with.  It does make her super cute though.

I totally agree with you.  I think its crazy that they can charge $600 for a hybrid.  But, over the years, these dogs have been considered real breeds.  To me, it doesn't make a difference.  When ppl ask what kind my peekapoo is, I always say a mutt.  I just wanted to make the point that some of these breeds are very desirable and they can be found at any local shelter if you keep looking.

Your dog, is amazing!  So cute!

I just want to add to the purebred pups at shelters.

I got a miniature pomeranian that was 6 months old, and a 6-12month old peek-a-poo (ha ha yes its a real breed)

My bro got a peikenese (sp?), my cousin got a long hair toy chihauha, and my grandma got a schnoodle.

They are all amazing dogs and they were all under 3 yrs old.

The fact that shelter dogs are forgotten by so many people, truly breaks my heart.  I don't understand the obsession with having a pure-bred with "papers."  Unless you are planning for a show dog, who the eff cares.  My bf got a mutt from the shelter, also amazing.  Every single shelter dog I have in my life is amazing.  I wouldn't go any other way.

But, I have to say, congrats on the pup.  This is such an exciting time in your life!  Just try to keep adoption in the back of your mind for next time! Laughing

I am a bisexual female. But I know plenty of guys who are bi. Google "Kinsey's Continuum" - it's a popular gender theory that most of us are not straight/gay but somewhere on a continuum between the two.

Hey, although Kinsey did many many experiments with sexuality, I must worn you that SOME of his experiments with males, such as, 40% of males have had an orgasm from other males, were conducted in all male prisons.  I'm not trying to be debbie-downer, I just want people to be aware that studies are very deceiving.

Hey, I am actually almost finished my 3rd year of my BSc in Nutrition!  Its really interesting and fun but the science classes are killer.  Anyone can do it if they take the time and effort!  What is your first semester like?  I'm thinking of doing my post bach in Dietetics but I hate the gov't regulations that dietitian's have to follow.  I am more into natural healing through diet & exercise and helping children learn that choosing right foods can be FUN!  I think my passion is in the children part.  If I can suggest anything, its to look for a part-time job or volunteer in the nutrition field so you can really get a feel for what interests you the most in this field!  I wish you all the best!  Good luck!

I am OBSESSED with morninstar farms chik'n burgers original.  I eat 2 (280cals) for lunch with a lil bit of ketchup or mustard about 5x/week.  I don't mind the slices, but I don't go outta my way to buy them cuz I can't have gluten and I can only eat them with sandwiches!  There are a TON of options out there.  Do you have a local Trader Joe's?  They sell a lot of vegan/vegetarian products!

I'm 22 and my bf and I never had the talk.  Six years later, we still haven't had the talk.  It goes without saying, but there are ppl you go on dates with and you KNOW that it isn't monogamous, you're just out for a good time.  I guess its just the vibe you have with that person that states whether its exclusive or not.

My BF is crazy too, he is 6'0 and weighs in at a whopping 127lbs.  The poor guy, sometimes he hates it and other times he doesn't care but the worst part about it, he eats like a mad cow.  During the week, at work, he goes out for brekkie at least 2x and 2x a week goes to McD for brekkie.  For lunch he usually has a sandwich with the grossest amount of meat I have ever seen in my life.  He will have an afternoon snack consisting of M&M peanuts/chips/reece's peanut butter cups/jolly rancher gummy, he will choose 2  snacks from the vending machine.  He thinks water is useless so he always drinks juice or 2% milk.  For dinner, he has a pretty square meal, but then at night snacks on chips & dip or easy mac.  Like this kid, is the unhealthiest guy I have ever met, but you would never know it by looking at him.  I'm majoring in Nutrition at Uni so it's impossible for me to think about what he eats.

The weekends are impossible with him too!  Fast food and big brekkies all weekend long, and lots of beer!  Poor guy, but we've been dating for 6 years and I still love him to death, so don't worry too much about it.  I've always weighed more than him!

I love love love yogurt and I can put it on anything and think its the most amazing thing ever.

LAst weekend I had cooked spinach, ground turkey, EVOO, lemon juice, and a tiny bit of basmati rice and then loaded 1.5 cup of fat free yogurt on it.  OMG greatest meal ever.

Last night I had steamed brocc, cauliflower, and carrots covered in greek yogurt.

I love falafel with greek yogurt on it.

Ummmm I love eating fish for breakfast.  I think most ppl think thats weird.  Sushi this morning, salmon the other morning.

I used to love eating hot dog buns with just cheeze whiz in them, no meat.

Umm, I love yogurt soup too.  Ha ha, so much yogurt.  I also love love love this yogurt drink I make with chopped (super small) cucumber, garlic, salt, yogurt, and water.  Can you tell my family is from the mediterranean?  yumm I love yogurt!

I think those are all my weird eating habits!

Hey, in most cases those people who seem to eat a lot and don't gain weight are actually eating next to nothing, BUT, my boyfriend is a freak of nature.  He is 6ft weighs in at about 128lbs...SOOO SKINNY, AND he eats like a machine.  For breakfast at least once a week he will get mcdonalds, and at least twice a week he goes out for a big breakfast.  He eats out for lunch on days he doesn't go out for breakfast.  He alwasy drinks juice, he always gets a chocolate bar AND a bag of chips for a snack AND then he goes home and eats whatever sort of dinner the rest of his fam is eating minus the veggies.  He hates most veggies, will only eat fruit if its put in front of him and eats at least 3000 calories a day.  Also, he's not lazy but he's not very active unless he's at work which requires a lot of walking.  STILL,

One time a work buddy of his was trying to lose 30 pounds so they made a bet.  Work buddy would try to lose 30lbs, BF would try to gain 5lbs.  Well my BF ate so much disgusting food until the point where he felt sick, and he LOST 2lbs.  He is seriously a freak of nature!  I always tell ppl that he can eat a hamburger and lose 2lbs and I will eat one carrot and gain 2lbs!

Hey, I wouldn't mind the idea if I wasn't one of the students working full time while going to school full time and also commuting an hour and a half each way just to save some $$$.  With this economy, I think you will be seeing more and more students working full time while studying full time therefore finding it harder to keep up a 3.5 GPA.  Also, it depends on your program, I mean if you are an undergrad its a lot easier for most people to keep up a good GPA with a major in social sciences than a major in chemistry.  I realize that most people who major in Chem also LOVE it but STILL.  You can stare at at page in a psych book all day and understand it fully and then stare at a page in a chem book all day and understand nothing.  PLUS, those students in pre med won't even get a shot at med school unless they have an almost perfect GPA plus community service PLUS a whole lotta other junk on the side.  SO I wouldn't be too worried about our doctors just getting by in school!

By the looks of it, a lot of other replies are students working full time!

Setting a high goal is sometimes better for dieting.  Maybe she won't allow herself to have a cheat day if she sets a high goal.  It doesn't mean she is going to starve herself or get discouraged if she doesn't meet that goal.  It's just a good way to get back on track for some people.

Lovely mom, we studied the dash diet in my nutrition class, the results are amazing referring to hypertension AND most people kept the weight off for an entire year!

Welcome back, we all need to take some time off sometimes!

Vegetarian Vegan Protein Intake......am I getting enough? How much protein should you be getting if you want to lose weight+build muscle? Nov 09 2008

take your weight in lbs, divide by 2.2 to get weight in kgs.  then multiply by 0.8.  That is your protein intake for the day!  Most people think this number is far too low, but I am a 3rd year dietetics major, and we learn that americans take in far too much protein and the recommended protein intake is much lower!  Hope this helps!

I go through the same thing.  I LIVE FOR those 100 cal cadbury chocolate bars when its TOM.  They save me.  I eat at least 2 every month.  I also air pop about 10 bowls of popcorn. Which isnt too high cal unless you add butter/oil or something.  I just add cayenne pepper or something like that.

Are you vegan?  Do you get enough protein?  Ever see the charity commercials of kids in Africa and they are super super skinny everywhere except in their stomachs.  This is caused by a protein deficiency (in most cases) which causes a fluid build up in the region around the organs.

Try snacking on foods that you know are basically "empty" calories, if there were such a thing.  For example, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, mangoes, etc.  Also, although eggs have a bad rap, there has been a lot of research that shows you burn 75% of the eggs just by digesting them.

ha ha,

yah I haven't really been taking it religiously.  I take it on days that I have to wait a long time between bfast and lunch and it seems to help keep me full for an extra hour.  Other than that I don't really take it.

I just wanted to see if it was working wonders for you, then I would prolly start taking it all the time.  Thank you!

Hey, I'm also a busy student. About once a week on my way home from school, I stop at Subway, that will be my lunch for the next day. I'm one of those weird people who doesn't mind cold food, so today I have baked beans in tomato sauce. I just put them in tupperware and carry it in my backpack until lunch time. I do the same thing for rice, anything. I just make a huge pot of whatever on Sunday and take it all week. This weekend I'm making brown basmati rice with crushed tomatoes, onions, spices, etc. It may seem weird to eat that stuff during class but who cares. You have to eat and at least you aren't taking McD's to class like so many of our fellow students!

99% of fitness experts are not nutrition experts.  Only listen to the fitness aspect of their advice.  A lot of trainers think they are nutritionists but to be a nutritionist you have to have a bachelor degree! Scary that most trainers give dietary advice
