Here's a summary of some of what Tom Venuto (natrual bodybuilder and fat loss expert) has to say about frequent eating: 1. Frequent eating speeds up your metabolism due to the thermic effect of food 2. Frequent meals prevent binges and control cravings 3. Frequent meals help maintain high energy levels by regulating blood sugar and Another usefull source is the last 3 years worth of "abs of the month" named men and women on sixpacknow.com - pretty much all of them eat 5 - 8 small meals a day. That must mean something right? I mean, look at how much body fat they have! You CAN make progress on 3 meals a day, but your better off with 5 or 6! James :)

Are you doing crunches or sit-ups? Both are pretty good for abdominal training, but crunches, performed slowly and with good form, can isolate the abdominals better than sit-ups, which allow other muscle groups to 'help' with the movement. 150 a night may not be the most effective training regime. Have you tried making them harder and doing fewer? Quality is more important than quantity here. imccarthy is quite right about the weight training, and it's definitely worth starting a weight training program. You seem to be doing a good amount of cardio in terms of duration and number of sessions, and it's good to have multiple types you do on a regular basis. I run 3 times a week (training for my first half marathon also!), and cycle 5 times per week. Have you tried altering the intensity of your cardio workouts? HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) can really help burn fat and boost your metabolism, and is a refreshing change from long boring cardio sessions. However all this exercise will only be truly effective if combined with a good clean diet. James :) |

"Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto It's actually an eBook, and i've found it enormously helpfull. Found through an online add while browsing nutrition websites. It focuses on fat loss through a combination of cardio, weight training and proper nutrition. Highly recommended! |

Hey First of all congrats on the progress so far. I wouldn't worrey to much about your ab muscles "pushing out" fat. For them to become that bulky would require very extensive training. Do you do any other ab exercises? What is your typical cardio workout? James :)
