im with sammielynn on the drinking/smoking. it totally goes hand in hand. i had to quit smoking to work out but when id drink, the urge to smoke was strong. im not an angel, ill occasionally have a cig with a bacardi and diet coke. but no one said this wud be easy! quitting one helped quit the other. except for the night i drank a 2 liter bottle of Asti champagne to myself LOLOL.

whats really scary is when u think about how alcohol is such an integral part of our societies culture. a party is usually just another way to say 'reason to gather and drink'. no drinking for 30 days is an awesome idea, alot of people think they need to have alcohol to have fun. unfortunately i used to date a guy who had me convinced he was NOT an alcoholic. what was really a shame is he was an accomplished martial artist who had alot of physical and mental strength. the alcohol is what ended our relationship and he never realized what it was doing to his health, not to mention us. i think about that everytime i feel the urge to have a drink just so i can have fun. i learned alot just by watching him dig himself a hole. the last i heard, he went to rehab but still fought the docs on being labeled an actual alcoholic. yes, this is an extreme example but becuz it is extreme, i can keep myself in check.

I learned my lesson about weekend drinking!!! I have a high tolerance and getting me drunk is quite a challenge so I ended up taking in 2 days worth of calories in one Saturday night party with my drink of choice; Jager and Monster energy drink. Well I'll tell you what snapped me outta that REAL quick! One ounce of Jager is 103 calories (YIKES!!!) and one can of Monster is 200 calories (double YIKES!)
Since I am not a light weight, I would need to drink alot to catch a buzz. For every 16oz can of Monster, I'd drink 10oz of Jagermeister (no, I'm not joking). That alone is ::get your pencils:: is 1230 calories!!!!!! And if that didn't work, I'd always drink more. Not to mention what everyone else has said, the inevitable munchies that come with it all.
I have come a long way from where I used to be. I got a trainer (whos also my nutritionist) who I see 2 days a week to kick my butt and I do cardio on my own 3 days a week. Nowadays, I have probably 4 beers over the course of Friday and Saturday night combined. ONE weekend I reverted back to my old ways and gained back the 4lbs I lost!!! I almost cried and my trainer let me know that not only was I injesting far too many calories, I was poisoning myself. It also slows your body down. I had made mine into a fat burning furnace and then threw ice water on it! Seeing it all so clearly now, I could never go back. I can still party but I don't need to drink. It's not worth ruining my progress.

I TOTALLY agree on the Slipknot lol. When I'm on my gyms elyptical (sp?) machine, I listen to Lamb of God (not a christian band) they use alot of double bass drumming and I keep a great pace. Bleeding Through has an amazing ability to make my adrenaline SURGE. I told my trainer I use mosh pits for extra exercise Tongue out
