My last assesment was on the 5th of April, I was at 23%. We will not do another one until the beginning of June. I will put a link to the actual photo up in my original post, hopefully those pics will be bigger.

It's generous portions for me too, unless it fits in my cal intake. And white pasta.

I really haven't given anything up 100%. I haven't eaten red meat in almost 2 months now. Not sure if that counts as 'giving it up".

I've still eaten sweets / peanut butter / etc. I just make sure to measure out 1 serving.

I never was a big white bread eater so that part doesn't pertain to me.

Do you do legs? I have heard that working your legs releases a lot of hormones and will give you great results all over your body. Some have told me that they tell people "if you want a bigger upper body, don't neglect your lower body!"

The only other thing that i haven't seen mention are Epsom salts. They are super cheap and you can get them at any drug stor or Wal-Mart type place. Put a 1-2 cups in a super hot bath and soak for no less than 20 minutes. When I first started working out I did 72 weighted lunges!!! My quads hurt so bad that it was agony to just sit on the toilet, I mean I was in serious pain. I tried the salts and it was such a HUGE relieft. Yes it was still achy but nothing at all near as bad as before i used them.

Because I'm adicted to the soreness that come the day after a workout.

Because I don't want my son to have "the fat mom"

Because it helps me feel more confident about my body.

Because it just makes me a better "me".

I'm sure you look perfectly fine :)

I've found the BMI is pretty much a joke for we lifters anyway.

That is the plan, lose some more fat %, my trainer wants 17-19% then start trying to get my upper body caught up with my lower!!!!

I should have been a bit more clear i guess. I have yet to go over on my cal intake since starting CC.

I know my bf% and it's 23% (as of last monday) down from 29% on Feb 1.

I asked this more out of curiosity more than anything.

As it stands I'm at 149 pounds 23%. My lean mass calculates out to about 114.4 pounds (according to an awesome website i found). I know I've still got fat to lose until I can even think of worrying about making a serious effort to build muscle.

BTW Melkor you were obese??? I wouldn't have guessed. Are you ever going to put a pic in your gallery that includes your face?..lol
Weight Loss Will one week of no exercise ruin things for me??????????? Apr 21 2008

You will be fine.

I had to take the first week in April off of going to the gym. I watched what I ate and everything worked out, I even lost during the week. I felt much stronger when i went back and met with my trainer for the frist time, we had to up the weights!

Your muscles do need time to recover. When you workout it breaks down the muscle tissue/fibers and they are in constant repair while you're active like that. A week of recovery allows them adequate time to heal themselves before you start breaking them down again. You'll probably flush some water out as well since the muscle won't be holding onto it for the repairs.

Don't sweat it, it's just one week in the course of the rest of your life.

Take care of yourself

All of the above on the taste (the smell is the same).

I'm still fairly new into this. When I do get around foods i used to love and crave it's just not the same anymore. I'll take a bite of something and think "wow this doesn't taste nearly as good as i remembered it". It's kind of like having a favorite restaraunt, then they get a new chef and your old favorite just doesn't "do" it for you anymore. If by chance I do want ice cream or something I'll have a skinny cow bar and it'll usually do the trick.

Fitness is 10lbs enough? Apr 21 2008

I would aim for about 3 sets of 8-10 reps at a weight that you are struggling to get the last few reps out (without losing all form of course). You could also start with a heavier wieght, do a couple of sets, then drop the weight down a bit for the last set. 15 reps are okay I guess but 20 reps is kind of rediculous if you ask me. Definitely if your cranking out 20 reps then it's time to up the weight for sure. I'm sure that your going to get tons of opinions on this.

Good job on your progress so far though!!!!

I'd say get more iron, vitamin C and wholegrains into your diet. It's very easy to let your iron stores run low if you're only existing on 1250 etc. and that can cause fatigue. Similarly if you're not getting enough B vitamins (typically from wholegrains). 'Fortified' protein shakes are no substitute for real food. Switch your food choices around... make it more interesting and you should get your appetite back. Then eat more. 1500-1600 at least.

Thank you. The cals I do get are healthy ones, my carbs come from a couple pieces of friut, steel cut oats, brown rice, etc. Fats are good fats, etc. I eat really really clean, and that's part of the frustration.

I would add one whole egg to your two whites, this will add 72 more calories so if you have been at 1200ish this will get you close to 1300 then add some nuts into the mix 1 cup of Almonds coming in at 500+ calories. With your workouts you need to keep your calories up, what has been your deficit lately? Loss of appetite is also a sign of overtraining, so try the calories first that should help a lot.

My deficit has been really close to 1000 not intentionally of course.  I'm taking the weekend off of working out.  I woke up this morning really sick (not sure if it's been creeping up on me, or if it's due to my not eating). I think that i'm just going to eat whatever might sound good this weekend (lord knows i need the cals).  Last night after I got home from the gym I felt aweful, drank my protein shake hoping i'd feel better,............then had to go to sleep and talk myself out of throwing up :(

lol it's funny you mention this. But it's even more sad that the client doesn't even know the difference!

I work out at a small 24hr gym, there are usually 2-3 people on staff there, including my trainer (he doesn't get his regular pay when he's training someone b/c the clients pay him). I definitely don't spend $75, but what i do pay is still a fairly large financial burdon for me.

Anyway, as you probably already know, when we first met I flat out told him "i'm not paying you to put me on a treadmill, or one of the exercise machines.........i want to do as many free weights as possible" He's been pretty good about it so far. We do use a machine usually once during the workout for certain exercises, but it's fine with me.

One thing that I thought of while readin this post is this. During one of my sessions we were doing planks. If you've done these you know how much they SUCK!! Well there I am in the plank position holding on for dear life, when i look up and he's headed up to the front desk b/c someone wants to tan! I yell at him accross the room "dude!!!!! What the hell are you doing!!!! Don't leave me like this!" I mean fine if he does it during a rest, but not during that! To tell you the truth, I wasn't even worried that i'd ticked him off......he should not have left me!!!!

Since then, everything has been good........lol

It's definitely confusing.

It's funny you mention nausea, b/c Wednesday when I got home from the gym I took my shower and then felt really really sick!

I think I might start taking the weekends off (I have been going Mon-Sat). And just step up my cardio on the days I do it.

I pretty much thoguht so Marc. Personally I don't buy into the "The_________Diet" type things. I've managed to drop 11 pounds in two months just eating clean and lifting weight.

A lady I am in a "biggest Loser" type thing with was talking about it. I'm trying really hard to convince her that carbs are not the enemy!!!

When I get to that point I remind myself of how frustrated I was when I was stuck at 153 for 3 weeks straight. Then I think about how I don't even care about it now and how silly it was to get all upset over it. Right now I'm starting to see 149 on the scale every morning and it's got me totally pumped!!! My mini goal is 143 (started at 160.8), I am in that "SO CLOSE i can smell it state", and a bit anxious as well. But I know that if I keep eating right and doing everything I can short of popping pills to lose the weight, that yes, it will eventually come off!!

(Now I need to save this somewhere handy, so that when i am down I can give myself a heaping helping of myown advice!)

Yeah I've been there, in the beginning. But i've now tackled my first 10 pounds and feel pretty good about myself.

I can say that what your talking about doesn't bother me nearly as muchas the 5'7 girl coming on here saying she's 110 but would LOVE to get to 100 and eating 800 cals a day........."why am I not losing any weight?".

Those are the post that bother me the most!!!
