corazon_latino, you sound just like me! I can't seem to figure it out. I had some tests done and found out i am sensitive to dairy, and that is most likely my cause, but it's so hard to avoid! :( I agree with raven21, altho it may not only be wheat or gluten. I would reccomend trying to eliminate one thing at a time (dairy, gluten, sugar, etc.) for about 3 weeks, then eat it again and see how you feel. Just keep doing that until you find something that seems to help. From there you can narrow it down even more. For, instance, I have a friend who thought she was allergic to wheat and so avoided it entirely. But she realized that even off of it something was still bothering her. She kept track of what she ate whenever she started feeling sick and looked at the ingredientys list. Eventually she figured out that it wasn't wheat, but malt, but it took a year to figure it out! I wish the solution was easier :( |

| Motivation | what made you realize that you HAD to lose weight?? | Apr 14 2008 23:52 (UTC) |

For me it was a combination of lots of things. I hadn't even stepped on the scales in months, and when I finally got on, I had gained 30 pounds since my drivers permit number!!! I knew I had gron and I knew i had gained weight, but not that much. (Still, I know I will never get down to that same weight, as I have grown alot). Then there was just that my favorite clothes didn't fit well anymore, my chest was huge (i have always been big-chested, but i was bustin' outta all my favorite shirts!), and I felt sluggish and bloated all the time!!! Well since starting caloriecount I have lost and kept off 5 pounds! |

| Weight Loss | Some advice would be fab! :) | Apr 08 2008 21:03 (UTC) |

So melanierah, here is what I can tell you. You need to calculate what your BMR is. you can serach for "Bmr calculator" on google and use one of those. That will tell you how many calories you burn every day just doing nothing. I would recommend eating that number of calories, or close to it. Every activity you do in a day will bring that number up. The burn meter will tell you your avergare burned in a day with normal activities based on your lifestyle. Then any exercise you do, like the elliptical for example, will add a certain number to your total burn in a day. My advice is to eat what you BMR is. Also, compare your food meter with your burn meter. You must have a deficit to lose weight. A healthy deficit is 500 a day. Just make sure your deficit is not larger than 1000. |

| Foods | Why is Pizza Sooooo Good? | Apr 07 2008 20:35 (UTC) |

Pizza is my absolute fave food EVER!!! I am like the rest of you in that I could EASILY eat half or more of a pizza by myself. But if you think about it, pizza is not that bad for you---you have got just about every category of food covered (depending on toppings)
and even possibly:
So I have discovered that I CAN work pizza into my diet, only I makes it myself. I use a whole wheat crust (homemade, store-bought, mix, or even a pita or wrap), low-fat cheese, lean meats (chicken, turkey, even salmon can be good), and load on the veggies. You can even get low-carb or organic sauce, and use alot of that too. Sure it takes more effort, but usually it tastes BETTER and is more guilt-free!!!! Try it! |

Ashley, seriously, don't worry about it! I do the same thing all the time, only for you it was ok, b/c I always inculge even when I have no calories left. But lately I have been training myself to be positive, and it has actually helped me stick to my diet. Allow yourself a treat or two a day. Sure, don't overindulge, but give in to something you REALLY Want. Follow my next words precisely: DO NOT STRESS OVER IT!!!!!! REPEAT: DO NOT STRESS OVER YOUR TREAT!!!! When you eat soemthing you love, ENJOY IT! Take time to savor and really enjoy every bite you take, and remind yourself that it is healthy to LIKE food. It's how we are programmed. The more you take time to savor and enjoy something, believe it or not, the less you will eat. It has worked for me. |

| Weight Loss | newbie - question about calories needed per day | Apr 01 2008 04:37 (UTC) |

Ok Anne_stace, here is what i have learned on this site so far. Don't know if it'll help... You should not eat below 1200-period. Just not healthy. So if you are eating 12-1500, sounds like that is good for your body and height, etc. If you are eating 1200, and burning (with exercise) 700 exercising, your deficit on average would be about 500. That's not bad at all. If you keep it at that rate, you will steadily lose about a pound a week. (you must burn/ have a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound----so 500 deficit a day, times 7 days a week, equals 3500 calories lost) I hope that actually helped! Hope it goes well with you!

| Motivation | Help i cant stop the cravings | Mar 04 2008 02:11 (UTC) |

I totally agree with everyone! They all have great ideas! I know when I am havingcravings, if I try ans substitute it with something healthy, I end up eating twice as many calories as I would have if i'd just eaten what i wanted. So I have a small amount of what i really want, wait a little while, and see if i still want it. If not, then you are good to go; if you do still want more, that is when you can try to fill up with something more healthy. Chances are after eating a small bit of it you will either fill your craving or realize it's just not worth it. Hope you conquer it! |
