oh shoot, I do apologize...I read over my post again & I do come across as a high-horse bigot. I didn't mean to come across that way. Let me clean up my original post. I'm sorry about that--sometimes it's easy to just type down your train-of-thought on the internet without realizing how it will come across to other viewers & I probably shouldn't have put in the descriptions of my neighbors when it really isn't necessary. Again, I didn't mean to come off that way. Sorry if I offended anyone. |

yeah, I just can't imagine who would be putting that mess out there. Nor can I figure out who would want to scoop up watery dog diarreaha with a disposable glove and plop it down in the next door neighbor's yard. Like I said the neighbors on that side of the house are NICE--they don't even have rowdy teenagers and it's been fairly quiet on their side of the fence. They do have a teenage daughter, so I don't know if she has some friends with a sick sense of humor. Or perhaps the neighbors can't stand the white trash tenants living in this apartment & are doing this in retaliation--I'm certainly not white trash, so if that were the case, then the poo would have to be put in the front of the apartment building. I'm just scratching my head about the whole thing. Also, the neighbors who live on that side have one of those small Pomernarian dogs, and I don't imagine it would be having projectile diarreaha all the time. It's such a weird, disgusting, and completely pointless thing for someone to be doing to the backyard. What I really want to do is put up a motion sensor spotlight and a camera to catch this hooligan in action. |

I always feel pity & empathy for someone with an eating disorder because it makes me think back to when I had one when I was a teenager & then the relapse I had a few years ago. It makes me remember all the exhaustion, fatigue, nausea, self-hatred, and obsessive tendancies with food, calories, & exercise that I used to have. Then I feel thankful that I'm back to a normal weight for my height & have a healthy mindset again. I don't remember anyone treating me rudely though when I had an eating disorder--I mostly stayed away from everyone because I felt like crap all the time and if someone mentioned how thin I was, I would tell them it's because I had stomach problems. I'm sure people suspected I had an eating disorder, but it's really not a subject matter that is widely talked about in the general public. Now if I see someone who is very thin I always wonder if she is suffering from an eating disorder, but I'm never going to ask. |

| The Lounge | why do/did or don't you want kids? | Aug 01 2009 01:23 (UTC) |

well, I don't want to have kids mainly because I don't like them all that much. I like looking at babies & think they are really adorable & sweet, but then I start thinking of all the work that is involved with raising a baby...projectile poopies, dirty diapers, cleaning up vomit, screaming fits...and then he or she eventually grows up & turns into a teenager. I'm sure I'd be alright though if I have a surrogate mother to go through the pregnancy for me, employ a full-time nanny, and then send Junior off to boarding school...

well, it is such a gruesome case of a mother butchering her newborn with swords--my gut reaction is that she should have the death penalty too & I don't feel much compassion for her either. She's probably going to be in a mental hospital for the rest of her life where she can get the help she desperately needs. I don't think the authorities, mental health care system, the family or even herself is to blame though--who could have ever predicted what she would do to her baby if she had gone off her medication? It brings to mind the Andrea Yates story who drowned all five of her children in the bathtub and blamed it on the devil. That happened in 2001 and she's been in a mental hospital since then. |

well, she wasn't even taking her medication. I agree she will probably be put into a psych hospital for the rest of her life rather than the death penalty for reasons of insanity. |

I do agree with what the others have said about your exercise regime and it sounds as though you have replaced the eating disorder with another form of addiction. I'm surprised you're able to fit in all that exercise while working a full-time job! Have you noticed a pattern in which you feel the need to exercise? Such as, when you feel stressed, upset, or any other negative emotion? When I had a similar problem to yours, I noticed I would feel the need to workout even more when I felt a negative emotion--it was a need to suppress whatever emotion I was feeling rather than expressing it in a healthy manner. Once I realized that I was able to channel those feelings into other activities & started to relax more which was a nice change. Since you have stated you are indeed controlled by exercise, try to take notice of what you are feeling when the urge arises and try to channel that energy into something else--take a relaxing bubble bath, do some cleaning, call a friend, go for a pleasant walk (and no, it can't be an hour long), or any other activity that you enjoy. Also, do you have a set schedule for your workouts? If so, create a block of time in your day and only allow yourself to workout during that time frame--you are NOT allowed to go over that time or do any other workouts later in the evening. I agree with the above poster as well--it will not be the end of the world if you to take a break from working out for a week or two. Your body needs time to recover. Out of curiousity, what is a normal & healthy amount of exercise to do each day? |

| The Lounge | Creeped out by bees | Jul 29 2009 03:19 (UTC) |

well, the bee population in my apartment has died off...literally. The maintenance crew came to my place yesterday, drilled a few holes, pumped in the poison (or whatever you want to call it), and voolah, the little buggers keeled over dead as a door nail. I feel a bit sorry for them, but oh well--who would want to have thousands of yellow jackets living in a wall in their home? I'm curious to see what the nest looks like, but I don't know if the maintenance crew will be removing it or not. Anyway, it's a relief that everything is back to normal. |

I called my landlord this morning, left a message that the yellow jacket problem has gotten worse after the maintenance guy sealed up their nest and suggested they send an exterminator out. Now the buggers are crawling out from the baseboard (where the wall meets the floor) in my bedroom! They just fly to the window though & I'm keeping the bedroom door shut so they won't be able to wander off and I'm definitely sleeping out in the living room tonight. It's not the bugs themselves that creep me out, but the horrible little scraping sounds & buzzing they are making within the wall as if they are trying to chew their way out. Very very creepy. |

I think the perfect male body has to be Marcus Schenkenberg: 6'3 and 188 lbs of pure sexiness. Not to mention, washboard abs & chocolate brown eyes. (Incase you don't recognize the name, he is a male model who's career was mostly in the 90's and he's in great shape today as well. |

| Health & Support | Do I look too thin?? | Jul 12 2009 03:16 (UTC) |
|
well, to be honest, if a lot of people in your life are commenting on the fact that you are too thin, then you probably are and haven't realized it yet. I actually find it helpful when I get those comments because, like you, I have suffered from an eating disorder, so if someone tells me how skinny I look, or tell me I've lost weight again, then I know I've gotten too thin & need to increase my calorie intake. (I haven't heard anybody say that sort of thing to me in a while now, which is quite a relief because it means I'm fit & healthy rather than underweight). Just my opinion. |

well then...back to the original post...I saw the guy on the Today Show & he looks fit, toned & healthy. I think he wants to get 2 or 3 more surguries to get rid of the excess skin that was stretched out when he was obese & he's a personal trainer now. Should be an interesting show to watch on Sunday to see his transformation. |

well, both baby birds had a sad ending to their lives today. They made it through the night, but one of them died later in the morning--I'm guessing it didn't get enough food or perhaps had been injured by my cat because it wasn't nearly as spunky as the other one. The other baby bird was fine, so I put it back in a plastic container lined with papertowels & the mama bird kept watch over it throughout the day, but towards the afternoon, it hopped out of the plastic container & I didn't see where it went off to. Unfortuantely, it must've hopped to the lower branches of the tree because my neighbor's dog found it later in the evening. The poor thing didn't stand a chance after that. Oh well, that's the way of nature with wild animals--eat or be eaten, right? |

wow, the original post is almost two years old... Anyway, I'm 5'8 and currently 137 lbs, which looks pretty good on me. My body type is rather angular, so when I was 130 lbs, I looked way too thin & now I actually have some curves. |

shoot...I'm sorry, I didn't realize you live in the UK. Ensure supplement drinks are only available in the U.S. and I'm not sure what the equivalent would be over there. Oh well, eating real food is a lot healthier in the long run & there are plenty of ways to boost your calorie intake without the use of supplement drinks. Here is a link to the high-calorie foods list on the 'weight gain' page that has some helpful suggestions. |

Are these Ensure Supplement drinks prescription only, or are they available off the counter? You can get Ensure from any grocery store or pharmacy and are usually in the aisle for vitamins, power bars, and SlimFast drinks. |

I'm sorry you are going through this right now. Eating disorders can occur to anyone regardless of what age we are--I had one when I was a teenager and then again when I was 25. The relapse was mostly due to stress, anxiety, and a godawful digestive disorder that made eating very difficult--thus bringing back the eating disorder. (It's amazing what problems can occur overtime due to stress & anxiety). You are not to blame for what has happened to you and as you have mentioned in your original post, an eating disorder doesn't just pop up one morning--it accumulates over time and that's why it can be so difficult to get out of at first. As far as increasing your calorie intake...my personal favorites used to be almonds, peanuts, dried fruit, avocado, and organic peanut butter (no hydrogenated oils--hooray!). Ensure Supplement drinks are also an easy way to add some much need calories & nutrients--I used to live off those and they really helped me. I've been recovered for quite some time now at a healthy weight and you will be able to do that as well. You're already making the steps to gain your health back and that is something to be proud of. P.S. I know I'm not quite the age you were referring to, but I wanted to reach out with my support & wish you the best of luck in gaining your health back. |

I think it's fine to get free movies off the internet. Infact, a friend of mine recommended doing it after she found out how much money I spent on renting movies at Blockbuster. The only problem is that the quality isn't as good as the DVD itself or on the bigscreen, so if I really like the movie, then I would rather rent it. In my opinion, downloading movies isn't "inhibiting art" because most of the crap being churned out on the bigscreen isn't worth the $11 cover charge or even paying $4.50 at Blockbuster for a rental, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. |

oh shoot, I was afraid of that. I just hate fainting & it happens every time I get my blood drawn when I fast beforehand. well, there are worse medical procedures to go through than getting your blood drawn, so I'll just bring my orange juice & a couple of doughnuts to munch on after the phlebotomist revives me with the smelling salts.... Just call me "Ms. Wimp." |
