hey i think its great youre going.  even if its you think its only for 30 mins. that's 30 mins more than you did a month ago. and that's AWESOME.  the more you go, the less you'll want to gorge on those sweets, your weaknesses.  in fact, that gorging will be gone and you'll start to learn moderation.  because in the end, you'll realize that you wont want to ruin all those minutes you put into the gym to make yourself and your body feel healthy.  that in itself is hard work and who wants to ruin that hard work, right?  youve been there - a size 6.  you can do it again.  you know youve felt better and healthier then.  go for it.  we're here for you....

i say keep going. youre doing great girl!

i should also mention i would OBSESS about the thought of food constantly.  hence binging... after being on this medication, i feel free from the obsessive thoughts of food.  my confidence has also gone up a ton and everyone around me has noticed.  im all for meds that help.

i also  didnt want to resort to meds for my anxiety either.  a few months ago i went to see a psychiatrist for my bingeing disorder and anxiety issues and she recommended i try a medication called topamax.  i was hesitant at first, but after doing much research i decided to give it a go.  2 months into it, i feel unbelievably great, i dont obsess about food anymore, i dont have urges to binge, and my anxiety has gone down a tremendous amount.  i cant speak for anyone else, but myself. i am also on a low dosage of 50 mg/day. 25mg in the afternoon, 25mg in the evening.

a strength training exercise for this includes using dumbbells by raising your arms above your head then letting the arms fall 45-90ºbackwards.  also try the triceps kickbacks and triceps extension exercises.

yea the wii fit is ok..just OK. its good, dont get me wrong, but this ea active is a WORK OUT in strength.  lunges, squats,  you name it.  most importantly, ITS FUN!!! fun fun fun.  my workouts dont usually last longer than 30 mins, and i never notice the time! ever.  it changes workout to workout, so i never get bored and im so happy with the results.  i hear they're coming out with a new version sometime later this year or next, so hopefully they will add the weigh-in function. for now, i use the wii fit for weigh ins.  sometimes i wish they'd add a heavier resistance band than the one included (its super light), but overall i couldnt be happier.  this game is just as good as what i paid $800 for a trainer at my gym for.  seriously.  and the results are obvious.  just gotta keep at it, i guess.  you'll be surprised at how effortless it seems to just melt off of your body.  its crazy!  yay for fitness games like this!

Fitness Wii Active Reviews????? Jul 09 2009
13:16 (UTC)

i used to have problems with it registering my lunges and squats.  i had to move my sensor bar from the top of my tv to the bottom, then i made sure nothing was blocking the sensor bar in any way.  remember also to place the nunchuck correctly in the strap.  face down- facing out right (if placed on your right thigh...midway on your thigh).  now i have zero issues of registration problems.

i LOVE this game.  in less than 2 weeks so far of my 30 Day Challenge workout, i have dropped 8 lbs!!! on the HARD intensity.  its so addictive, and im always surprised its over when its over.    i also bought an extra set of the active accessory and use both bands while working out.  it adds more resistance.  definitely going to be buying a wireless nunchuck next.  this game is beyond fantastic.  highly recommended. HIGHLY!

hi everybody!  ugh. last night was not so good!  its those nighttimes i really really have problems with. i dont know what it is, but it hits me HARD! yes, i worked out on the elliptical in the morning, but after i ate my big dinner, i craved something sweet...hullo.  turned into a maniac, opened my cabinet, pulled out the peanut butter (which i just bought), pulled out the wheat bread...ate THREE big slices of bread lavished generously with the luscious peanut butter and sliced bananas over it and was in heaven.  i lost track of all time and reality.  i was in a binge ZONE! it was awful.   i could  have eaten 30 more i swear!  i dont know what came over me.  maybe it was because i havent had peanut butter in about 6 months. i dont know.  i was so scared to step on the scale.  thank god it hasnt budged from yesterday.  i would have been so depressed.

another lesson learned. STAY AWAY FROM THE PEANUT BUTTER! ugh.  why do i let food control me?  its so horrible.  this is why i cant keep anything in my house. i will literallly eat every last bit of it immediately.  oh, i could have finished that peanut butter jar.  i had to step away from it.

here's to another day, another day to try to stay on track.  i hope i find the strength in me to do so.

todays goal:  30 mins elliptical, TONS of water, NO PEANUT BUTTER! lol

good morning everyone.  i feel refreshed and a little different today.  maybe its because i didnt gorge on crap this weekend like i usually do.  jeez it was painful to control those binge attacks.  so happy i didnt give in. i stepped on the scale and today i am at 162.5.  god only knows i would have gained instead of lost this weekend if i caved into my habits. phew!  a good lesson learned and strength and confidence gained to reach my first goal.

today my goal is a buttload of water, elliptical 30 mins, low carb, high protein.

they say a binge happens because we are trying to fill a void.  find out what your void is.  and try to remember that, yes, food does make you feel better right at that moment, but once that moment is over, you have to face the truth again.  its a viscous cycle...one in which you, and only you, are responsible for breaking.  if you feel that binge coming on, go to the gym, drink a whole hell of a lot of water, keep yourself busy, read these forums and try to understand what void youre trying to fill.

trust me  i know.  it took me 4 hours to fight off a binge attack last night.  it was awful, but i didnt give in.  one day at a time.

oh wow.  i know EXACTLY what youre going through and how  you feel.  i almost binged last night, but i know i have to stop these sneak attacks and win the battle.  it's so hard!!!! but you can stop it.  next time  you feel like binging, please log into this forum and see how many of us are struggling daily, just like you.  step away from the food, focus your energies on something else and win your battle.  you will feel accomplished and proud of yourself the next day.  you can do it.  you can!

hi everyone. yes, its definitely a daily battle with food for me.  for instance last night, i was about to binge and order a hamburger and fries and a waffle!! yes AND a waffle.  it took me about 4 hours of saying no to my compulsive habit of binging, but i did make it through logging into this forum and having all of you here.  knowing i am not the only one struggling to make healthier choices does make this easier.  i am so happy i didnt order that!  night times are the worst for me and i find them to be the most difficult binge attacks.  i always want to walk to the corner store and buy ice cream or anything else fattening late at night,  but then i think about how paranoid i'd feel knowing the people behind the registers will know i will eat all that crap at once.  that's what stops me.  i need therapy! haha.

so in the end, i had some bananas and chocolate milk to curb the craving. i know better now not to buy crap food for my house.  i cant just eat a bite of it, i will eat the whole package. i will.  i know myself better.  and this is why i cant buy cereal.  i will eat the whole box at once.  what is my problem?!

anyway, still havent done the elliptical, but i sure as hell will once this day is over.  im going the low carb, high protein way.  i know my limits and triggers and i hope to god i accomplish my goal of 150.  on feb of this month, i've reached a weight of 159.  felt so weird because i didnt look or feel different...so i just assumed the scale was wrong.  stayed that way until mid-month this feb and now back up to mid 60s.  time to get back on track and thank you all for being here for motivation.

remember ladies, if you feel like binging or overeating or eating crap, think of all of us here struggling not to.  it helps!

yea well... didnt do so hot this weekend. weekends are hard! ugh.  scale reads 3.5 lbs higher than my lowest. boo!  had some ice cream and baked lays, a muffin, lots of hershey kisses.  lol. what a nightmare!  i can still feel the pit of food in my stomach from last night.  the worst feeling!  just sitting there like a lump.

on the good note, i went to the gym this morning and stayed on the elliptical for 45 mins.  going to try to get to the gym early from now on to get it over with so i dont have to do it after work.

alright, girls! back to the grind!  my weigh in is tomorrow and also the biggest loser!!!  have a good day everyone!

maybe you had a little too much salt? maybe you just drank tons of water before you stepped on the scale? you are also weighing yourself at night, which will make the scale numbers higher.  keep doing what youre doing. i guarantee you'll see a weight loss soon!

15+ lbs if you stay at 1200 cals and exercise at least 3xs a week.  you have to be DEDICATED tho!

right on!  nowadays, i usually stay on the elliptical at level 8 for 60 mins.  tho throughout it i put it at level 5.  i usually burn around 630 cals in that hour, give or take.

last year when i had difficulties losing weight thinking i was doing everything right, my trainer told me to stay on the elliptical until i hit 450 cals x 3 days a week.  that's what got me to lose the lbs. in that month.  i started in the mid 170's then ended up in the high 150's.  it was amazing.   i used to over-exercise, and that weirdly got me nowhere.  my trainer told me that there is NO reason for me to workout everyday and that will only hinder my success.  whatever he said, it worked.  also should mention i did do some circuit weight training too.. nothing crazy, but i did that 2 days a week.   also i restricted my calories to 1200/day.

and remember - muscle burns AND weighs more than fat!!  so a little weight training goes a long way!

what do you do for exercise?  how many calories are you consuming?  at least youre funny!  lol.  this happened to me once. exercised 45 mins on the treadmill for 3 weeks. didnt lose ANYTHING.  then a trainer came up to me and told me no wonder why i am not losing and to try the elliptical instead.  i lost about 13 lbs that month!  who knows?
