Weight Loss TGIF! Sep 12 2009

thanks everyone!!!  I just thought that everyone needs a success story once in a while.  I got stuck at a few plateus , a couple months where there were no changes and when all is said and done, I have been extremely successfull.

I started out at 178 in January, and never thought I'd see the 130s but I hoped for it.  And here I am...in 8 more pounds (so I am assuming another 8 weeks or so) I'll post a before and after shot...I can't wait for that!

Weight Loss constipated and dejected! Sep 11 2009

About three times since January I've gotten backed up.  I could not go for 2-3 days and for someone who usually goes twice a day, it was awful.  I tried fruit, I tried fiber, I tried being more active and nothing seemed to kick it into gear.  Unfortunately all three times I had to use pills to get myself moving.

You're not alone!! Try all the natural remidies first, I would not turn to medication until you have exhausted all other opprotunities...using those pills feels miserable.  Awful stomach cramps and running to the bathroom for a few hours.

Weight Loss Hlep! Panic! Have I undone all my hard work? Sep 11 2009

don't worry about it....should you make it a habit? no! but everyone has moments of weakness.  You probably leveled it out for the week since you said you didn't make 1200 calories during the days prior.

each day is a new day, just try your best to stick to your plan and EAT AT LEAST 1200 calories!!!! put chicken on your salad, or croutons, or peanuts or something so you get up to 1200.  Even just have a glass of milk!

Motivation Is it normal I like to watch the food channel even though i'm on a diet? Sep 07 2009

i love watching the food network.   Honestly, it doesn't change anything for me.  I am just really into cooking and i love watching the methods they use.  Never thought about it before, but it doesn't really make me crave anything at all.

Motivation The way I feel vs. the way I look Sep 07 2009

i have similiar problems..i've lost over 38 pounds and am only slightly under 10 from my goal.  My brain realizes that at this point in time, I weigh less than I did in high school (and looking back on those pictures i always thought I was skinny).  My heart just doesn't see it yet.

Sometimes I do...when I can fit into a size 6 at the store or I have to switch to small shirts at old navy but I still can't grasp it quite yet.  Slowly getting there...

Stay proud of yourself.  You have lost a ton of weight, and the only way to make yourself see it, is to keep pointing it out to yourself when you look in the mirror.  I found that making pictures of myself with my measurements has helped me A LOT!  I can look at old ones I made and SEE the difference on those.

sometimes i think"you don't look any different than when you started, and people who are saying you look good are just being nice"

then i respond to myself saying..."seriously? you've lost about 38 pounds and you look the same?  give me a break."  I don't think this as often as I have made people with my measurements and saved the pics so I can actually SEE the differences in my actual body on an avatar.

I'm 5'4.5" and I weigh 140 pounds, mine are 23.5.  I don't really care what their measurement is, as long as my body as a whole looks ok.  The average person has no idea what any of their measurements are...

Weight Loss what is the ideal weight for 5 feet 5" ladies? Sep 02 2009

I'm almost 5'5"...more like 5'4.5" and my goal is 130.  Right now I weigh 140 and I am content but I would like to lose some more.  I think it depends on the shape of your body and how you feel at what weight!

Motivation So Far, So Good (Celiac) Sep 01 2009
00:09 (UTC)

Make sure you go and get tested so that you are diagnosed with celiac.  I did not eat wheat for almost 2 years because I showed symptoms of celiac they went away when I ate gluten free.

After 1.5 years or so...they started coming back and then I was back to normal getting sick everyday.   I finally went and got tested.  Turns out, I just have a slow stomach that has difficulty digesting wheat, it is something to due with the amount of acid I have in my stomach.

I am on a daily acid reducer and I do not get sick.  It's nice to eat wheat again.

Good luck with your journey and you're doing great so far!

Motivation 3 biggest supporters? Sep 01 2009

1. My boyfriend...he has been nothing but supportive throughout the entire process.  He kept me going through the rough patches and he praises all of my successes.

2. My mother...she got into it after I did and she loves calling me and asking me what I weighed that day.  She thought my goal weight should have been 5 pounds ago, so I can't wait until she sees me at such a low weight (we live a few hours away)

3. A woman from work...she always tells me that I should be proud of myself and that I'm doing so good.  It's always nice to hear.

Weight Loss When to log weight? Aug 31 2009
01:44 (UTC)
3

i used to log daily, that helped me to get comfortable with the variation from day to day with weight.

now, i log when i feel like it..usually at least weekly.  if i weigh myself and i like it, i graph it, if i weigh more the next day, i forget about it until i get another number i like.  it's been working for me.

as long as the general trend is going down it is o.k.  for example...between 145-146 then 144-145 then 143-144...down is the important part. :)

Confidence and mindset are key.  I live by the saying "life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it."  you can change anything (mostly anything) into a positive situation by thinking about it a different way.  This has helped me SOOO much during my weight loss, and throughout the rest of my life.

Weight Loss So I blew it, now what? Aug 29 2009
00:16 (UTC)

I don't think there's anything wrong with having pizza but a WHOLE PIZZA? LOL.

tomorrow is a new day, we all have slip ups.  I agree that you need to eat more throughout the day so you are not ravenous at night!!

Also, don't throw out the pizzas, wrap each slice up individually and freeze them.  Write the number of calories on the outside with a marker, and remind yourself of how many calories they are they you go to defrost them.

Have one slice once in a while or even once a week with salad instead of another slice.

Everything in moderation. That is certainly the key.  I've lost 37 pounds and I haven't "given up" any food...I just don't eat them as much and I don't eat the same amount.  Now, I don't even desire that stuff anymore.

Motivation I just see the same body. Aug 26 2009

no, you are not alone.  I did not notice my weight loss until I got to 35 pounds gone.  Sure, clothes were getting bigger, but when I looked in the mirror I did not see it much.

Luckily, I take measurements and make a virtual model of myself so I can look at those and SEE the difference...then I convince myself that's what I actually look like.

It's beginning to set in.

I'm going through the same thing...for the first 30 pounds or so of my weight loss I did not notice much of a difference.  Little things here or there, and the changes in clothes but it never really hit me that I was changing my whole body so much.

Today I have lost over 35 pounds and I can definitely see a difference in the mirror.  The fact that I know I weigh LESS than people I always thought were thin or what I wanted to be is SHOCKING to me.

It's such a good feeling to realize how much you have truly done for yourself!
